machine pistol slide for RDS

Anyone know if there's any shop locally that does machining for installation of a red dot site?  Anyone have experience with mainland guys, ie one source tactical, L&M precision, bowie, etc.?  If anyone has this kind of set-up how do you like it?

What the weight of the RDS?

Are you going to retune your slide or reduce the
Weight of the slide to compensate for the RDS?

I prefer not to do that method. I prefer brackets

I'm planning to put a trijicon rmr on top.  Not sure of the weight.  Hmmmmm, didn't really take the change in weight of the slide into account.  I just saw on the internet that a lot of people do it.  Looks like I need to do a little more research.  Thanks!

Make sure you he'd a good red dot sight with good warranty
They break easily when you mount them on the slide

I try to talk customers out of doing it that way.

The milled and slide mounted RMR is becoming very common and developing a reputation for durability / reliability.  No doubt the RMR is the #1 choice in a slide mounted RDS and it is going to be as common as a red dot sight on a rifle.  I would personally opt for Bowie or a company called ateiguns.com.  I have an Insight MRDS mounted on a G34 which I am using a dovetail sight mount just to ensure that I like the slide mounted red dot.  For a RDS and a defensive weapon I would go slide mount.  For competition I would opt for a frame mount.  I also have a Delta Point that will go on an M&P Core when it arrives.

I want a CORE too.  I'm kind of on the fence between getting the CORE or getting my glock slide machined.  Just ordered my RMR so got some time to think it over.  Anyone got experience with L&M precision?  They seem to have decent prices with a low turn around time.

if you are interested in getting your slide done and already have your rmr, someone mentioned atei.
doug @ atei does excellent work - pretty quick turn around time. ateiguns.com

I had LWD machine a slide for a Glock 22 a few years ago.

They do excellent work but they will not cut into stock slides.

Something about the carbon content having a high probability of a flash (explosion)

Not sure what exactly that meant but I ended up just buying a stainless slide through them.
