2a Members card
« on: June 22, 2013, 11:14:10 AM »
Do we already have one, if not maybe we should make one. My friend is part of a Hawaii gun and knife club and they have one. Also would be good for supporting 2a stores maybe run discount specials once a month for 2a members.

Yea I would pay 5-10 bucks for a members card, I feel that most of the LGS benefits alot from 2a Hawaii.  Also we have alot of 2a members who own businesses also, I like the idea of how dirty lickens had the 2a sticker at his counter.  Also on behalf of paying members we could donate to supporting gun orginizations.

I'd pay quite a bit more if it meant reasonable savings or special offers at several different shops.

Yea true that I would pay more also, and to be fair it's not a all time discount for participating stores but maybe specials on certain items or one day a month type of deal. Not only will it help advertise 2a or the stores but it'll promote positive feed back to non gun owners or non supporters..

Playing devil's advocate here so I thought I'd ask some questions...

Does it make sense to have paid memberships for 2ahawaii.com vs keeping it free where anyone can join the site for free? Creation of a tiered membership perhaps?

To me, 2ahawaii is currently the best online forum in Hawaii to meet and discuss topics with fellow 2a supporters, regardless of club affiliations.

Does it make sense to morph into some sort of a club?  If it becomes some sort of paid membership club, what would be its purpose?  A member benefits organization?  A lobbying organization?  Both?

I do agree that there are some good opportunities in promoting the firearms community by finding businesses that are 2a friendly and vice versa.  However, I hope it does not detract from what it is currently doing very well which is by being the best online firearms community in Hawaii currently.

Thanks for your thoughts.

If it was to happen the sight membership stays the same nothing will change . "Payed membership card" would be striclty optional with the intent of money made from the card will be donated to a Hawaii gun supporting orginization excluding cost ane labor to actually have those cards made. Let's be honest there's actually guys who support this sight more then just leaving a comment or trying to buy sale or trade. Like the Pau Hanas 98% of us on here who actually on here won't attend,  we type in a email with a password then boom were "2a members". Just felt we make it more exclusive for the people who's really involved, like the stores for example . How many of us found good deals or check vendors section before even checking the actual stores website, or PMed a vendor through here to ask a question ? I have pmed vendors through here and gota faster answer then if I was to email them. Whether it does happen or not I thought it would be a good idea it would be kinda cool to me, to be honest everyone want to bew member of something and wwith everything else in life it's always nice to be exclusive to something. Like I said its a paid membership so it won't separate how things are runned on this sight. But for #1 atleast I can show I'm part of an exclusive part of the club #2 my money will be donated to a desired 2a orginization or 2a itself #3 would be nice from time to time I can get a small discount from paticipating stores. I'm sure its a far fetch from happening but I just thought it would be cool, and besides we spend thousands of dollars on firearms or accessories so whats a few bucks haha

I wouldn't purchase a member card, unless there were discounts much greater than the cost of the card.

I'd hate having another damn card to carry in my already bloated wallet.

EDIT: I was going post a link to George Costanzas wallet here but this distracted me.
