Guns to commensurate wedding date..
« on: July 01, 2013, 01:29:08 PM »
My GF and I were talking about getting married on the way back from the range yesterday. Fortunately for me, she doesn't want to have a wedding, but she did suggest that we get a matching set of guns to mark the date of our legal date of the signing of the marriage certificate. She ultimately wants to register the guns, sign the marriage license, and shoot the guns in one day....basically wants all the dates on all the paperwork to reflect the same date. I love this woman.

With that said...what kind of guns would you recommend for something like this. I'm thinking about a pair of custom polished stainless revolvers, maybe nickle-plated 1911s. Any suggestions would be appreciated on the picking of your brains. No real monetary limit, but id like to stay around 10k or so.

Some nice custom 1911s or revolvers seem to be the normal. Depends if you wanna shoot them or just display them. You trying for consecutive numbers?   I'd say a pair of pythons in high polish stainless would be solid choice engraved with your names and dates.

Congratulations to you both!  That is awesome...

How about some custom engraved koa wood 1911 handgun grips?
(Not really sure where but someone here might know.)

... or a personalized rifle like this Henry Golden Boy?

With that kind of budget, the sky's the limit. You could probably pick up a nice pair of engraved 1911's or revolvers for under that price. It really all depends on what you (and she) want.

For me, I don't give a crap what we do with them. BUUUUUT, she wants to register the guns, then go to the courthouse to sign the certificate, then go straight to the range and shoot the guns. She basically wants, the gun registration paperwork, and the marriage certificate dated on the same day. The guns will ultimately go in a custom made Koa display box or whatever she wants made for them.

Good luck with that.

To the OP, Ed Brown can do custom serial numbers and engravings, but yeah 9 -12 months.

Keep.

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

These folks make some outstanding 1911's.  Pricey, but beautiful.  Wish I could afford one. ;D

I think you're looking for a gun to commemorate your wedding date, not commensurate  ;)

Or maybe he meant A pair of guns commensurate with the spectacular love felt between this couple. :)

Maybe it's just a simple typo?  Could easily have meant "COMMISERATE!"

S & W, Colt and Ruger all have their Custom Shops that could help you with custom engraving and probably personalized serial numbers (like your name and wedding date) IF there's enough lead time--check their websites and email their custom shops.  For that matter, Remington can do you a pair of custom rifles or shotguns--I've seen them and they do nice work.

Congratulations and good luck!
