Secure Gun Safe

Ok guys & gals I have a topic that maybe you guys can help me and others with…

A good gun safes…
I have narrowed my choices in the order of preference and would like feedback and personal experience with any of the mentioned brands:

1.    Sturdy Gun Safe
Pro: Gun safe that has some of if not the thickest stock body & door steel gauge.  Claims to have a design with less locking mechanism which when forced entry will leave most safes inoperable and leave you calling a locksmith to gain entry.
Con: Plain Jane, not too many frills that thrill if that’s what you’re looking for.
2.    Fort Knox
Pro: Many innovated features like extra body & door thickness option and corner door bolts.
Con: gun Safe overall metal thickness is not very thick.
3.    Patriot Gun Safes
Pro:  If you want a deluxe gun safe right out of the box this would be your gun safe.  Made in CA so fright might be cheaper LOL.
Con: Web reports of spotty customer service.  Web site doesn’t post door steel design if steel plate designed and no safe weights.
4.    Liberty
Pro: Large variety of safe options and perceived durability based on you tube videos.  You can dress up your safe for the prom.
Con: Video shown on you tube is top of the line safes.  Normal entry safes have thin steel wall and doors.
5.    Snap Safe & Zanotti Armor
Pro: Mobility quick assembly and dis-assembly by one person.
Con:  Steel gauge thickness leaves one wanting more.

Safe Specification sought after:

Main priority is anti-thief / security of items stored.
10 gauge (9/16) or > body thickness.
8  gauge (1/2) or > door plate thickness not overall depth.
Cost within reason less than $2500
At least 30 min fire resistance above mentioned safes should meet this standard.

All vendors have to some degree or another life time warrantee.
Some vendors state shipping include with cost and optional delivery preferences like installation.
No I did not ask how much would it cost to ship to Hawaii.

Thanks for the FYI.     :shaka:

I seen this video before.  My safe selections isn't covered by the brands hes recommending other than Fort Knox.

Was wondering in anyone in Hawaii has any of these safes.

I'm leaning toward a sturdy safe.

Did you see the Fort Knox video where they shoot it up then drop it into a house from a crane then set the house on fire. Plus from what I hear their warranty is supposed to be good, if anything happens to the safe like someone tries to break into it they will replace it free and upgrade you to the next bigger size.

Last time I talked to Carter he said no new safes until they move to another location.  He didn't want to sit on the safes if they were going to move.

OP with regards to the fire rating.  Note that a lot of these guys note different temperatures when giving you a time for fire resistance.  The time from one manufacturer to another may not be an apple to apple comparison.

Been looking around and decided to get a sturdy as I’m looking for maximum wall thickness to deter entry LOL..

All other brands have inferior stock steel thickness...

As for fire rating you are right it is subjective but so is car mileage ratings  buyer beware LOL.  >:D

So anyone out their own a Sturdy?  Anyone?

 :D  ???  :worship:

Gzire,

Do you know when OGC will be planning to move i've heard this many times...  A change of location from its current place would be an improvment LOL.

When only cops have guns, it's called a "police state".

I just recently bought a "Stack On" 14-gun safe from Sports Authority. I was originally planning on getting just their 8-gun "cabinet" but decided to drop the extra cash for more security, combination lock, and more shelving. Definitely glad I made that choice. Liking it so far.

If you go to Senetics ask for Reid. My friend and I purchased 2 of the same safes and he gave us a discount, not a big discount but a discount none the less. You can find American Security safes cheaper online, but keep in mind once you add on the shipping cost to Hawaii things get pretty $$$$
