Florida man opens fire on school board meeting
« on: December 14, 2010, 11:10:35 PM »
Surprisingly, no one was hurt and the gunman eventually turned the gun on himself.

Actual video: http://cnn.com/video/?/video/crime/2010/12/14/vo.fl.school.board.shooting.WMBB

Edit: After watching the video a second time, I can't believe no one took cover after the first shot was fired (except the woman)! They are all very lucky! I think it was mentioned in another article that it was confirmed that the gunman's rounds were live and not blanks as some people initially thought.

Wow! :o   That was crazy!

Did you see the other video, of the lady, trying to wack the gun out of his hand with her purse?  I don't think she should have did that though.   Too bad she wasn't a CCW holder, it could have ended right there.

This could have ended so much worse.  Thank GOD.

The school  board is luck y that there was an armed person on hand to stop this guy. Even though he wasn't killed when the security guard shot him, he at least stopped him from just walking up and executing each board member one at a time. Again, the sheep/wolves/sheep dog lesson here. If that woman had decided earlier to be a sheep dog rather than a sheep, she probably would have had a gun rather than her purse to try and stop this guy...

yeah I'm really glad the school security had guns even though I'm thousands of miles away. It would've just been terrible to watch him walk up one by one and murder them O_o. I don't think they should've waited that long to fire back though. The second he raised that gun should've been grounds for defense already.

The security guard was outside, waiting for SWAT.. but they were obviously "on their way". He came in when shots were fired.  Those men can thank god they are alive.  Divine intervention saved them.

most important thing to note: It took a firearm, to stop a man with a firearm.

that lady is an idiot...  she is so lucky he was calm and composed after her pulling a stunt like that.  if you're going to be a hero and sneak up on a person with a gun, you better have a gun.  at the very least a club or a stout pen to put in the guys neck.

how'd he get that gun in there anyway?  with it being a gun free zone and all ::)

more ammo for the antis.....  no innocents died and the armed security guard stopped the attacker.  a regular ol joe with a gun could have injured or killed more people than they helped. ::)  we're all safe with the number of police and security guards .gov has deployed ::)

I thought it's illegal to bring guns to a Criminal-Empowerment Zone. How can this happen?   ::)

This story is a good example for people when talking about concealed carry on campus. A carrier (doesn't matter he was a security guard) had a gun and actively went out of his way to stop the threat.

By the way, is anybody else freaked out by the video when he pulls out the gun and the board member is saying "please don't, please don't" and everyone is still staying still in their seats?

This is a perfect example of sheeple who have lived their entire lives in Condition White and are now completely shutdown saying, "Why is this happening to me?"

I actually find it amusing that even under complete duress, they are STILL followers and don't duck until they see the person next to them do it.  ::)

ETA: Florida just gained a couple new NRA Life Members or Brady Campaign supporters...the antis will continue to stay in Condition White and will blame the gun; the new pro-gun types will vow to never let it happen again and will live the rest of their lives in Condition Yellow looking out for the PEOPLE who wish to do them harm.

Amazing the bravery/stupidity of the woman trying to knock the gun out of his hands with her purse.

As far as the board members, they did too much talking.  When someone has you hostage like that you're supposed to shut up, listen to what they say, and empithize and if need be, agree with them.
