I am stunned.  This means Illinois is even less restrictive than Hawaii now. 

CCW permit is $150.....doesn't say if it's per year, 5 years, 10 years, etc.  CCW also requires 16 hours of training.  FOID is essentially the same thing as our two week wait period except the card is $10 for 10 years. 

Places to carry are still a bit restrictive but compared to nothing it's great.


Expected applications for the first year...............300,000 people.

^^^Hawaii has no excuse.  Hawaii says we have CCW in-place. 

The problem here is there is nothing concrete (now) like in Illinois.  It's clear in Illinois what you need to do now to CCW.  In Hawaii that's up the each and every Chief in each and every County in Hawaii.  Based on past practice it means you have to have almost a one in a million case in order to carry.

NRA says Illinois is the LAST state to do so. 

If the NRA doesn't know, they can't really help.

We have CCW, the issues are:
1. Need to go from a may to shall state.  From the story it seems even Illinois is now a shall state.
2. Need to do this on a state level so you don't have to apply for a CCW for Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island if you want to CCW within the state.
