Just finished reading, "Shooting to Live," by Cpt. William Fairbairn & Cpt. Eric Sykes.

Just started reading, "Kill or Get Killed," by Lt. Col. Rex Applegate.

There is some discussion involving Point Shooting.

Just wanted to see if any of the LEO, service men, instructors cared to weigh-in and provide their comments on any real life experiences with Point Shooting.

 :shaka:

Big fan of point shooting in close quarters.
I train to do it and train others to do the same.
It is faster than traditional aimed fire.
God forbid you ever find yourself in a position where a split second means the difference between life and death but if it does happen, be prepared.
Your number one Option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

ST there is a difference between point shooting in close quarters ala KK (which by the way I do support) and shooting without sights by aligning down the barrel at 200+ yards.

As with any kind of shooting, hours of practice is extremely critical. Shooting is a degradable skill....use it or lose it as they say. Point shooting is EXTREMELY important if you are CQB. I would agree that it is not that effective (as a standard practice) beyond 20 meters or so. Though I do admit to trying to do it beyond 100 meters, just because. I think everyone should practice this skill. You hear everyone always talking about SHTF scenarios...well, where do you think most of that will take place. Urban environment, clearing a building, searching buildings for food, supplies, etc.

if the target is close enough, then yes, it can be done...if target is further, you really gotta look at the front sight to hit the target..try USPSA competition shooting, you'll find out :)
