Loctite for the thumbscrews on my sight?
« on: July 22, 2013, 02:20:18 PM »
SO I have a sight for my rifle, but the thumbscrews loosen up after ever trip form the recoil and such.  and then the sight starts to lose its zero.  so i was wondering, someone once suggested i use loctite on another screw on my iron sights, but i was wondering if its a good idea for something i want to stay put for now, but may want to remove in the future?

This is what Loctite was invented for!
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

Should be ok to remove if you apply Loctite to screw. I've installed and removed pistol grip screws that had loctite on em. Was a little hard to remove but can.

City Mill for sure has it.  That is where I got mine.  Home Depot and Lowe's should also.  I think even O-Reilly's sells it.

But yeah, get the blue.  Don't get red.

Blue loctite for sights. Also put a witness mark to be able to quickly check if the screws/bolts are moving.

The blue loctite will come off with moderate amount of force. Just a little dab is all you really need.

I've bought it at Don Quiote. Home Depot for sure.
