Koko Head Range?  Past 200 yards not sure?  Got about 3 areas on the BIg Island I have been to that you can shoot 200+ yards.

Thanks Paul.

I guess because we have kokohead on Oahu, we don't have any sight in areas at any of the hunting zones.

I asked a docare officer, dlnr enforcement about this once. He said its illegal and that's why there is a shooting range. You go to the range to sight in your riffle.
What if I find a good area with an adequate backdrop?
That's still what the range is for kid.
Do you know the citation number or what law so I can look it up myself?
Well, I would have to look it up, but listen kid, just go to the range. That's what its for.  Gives me a little tap on the shoulder and walks off. I just keep standing there smiling at him.

Every time after that when he would see me he would hurry up and leave. I'm really curious about the citation number.

Yeah, I don't think he was expecting me to ask about the citation numbers, probably caught him by surprise.  At least I never got arrested by him. Lol.

He probably leaves because he was lying out his ass, and has no idea about any citation numbers.

HPD told me to talk to these guys about test firing a flare gun before dedicating it to our boat, and the recommended I test fire it at Kokohead. When I found out it was illegal, they told me there is no reason to test fire a flare gun, and they are 'pretty sure' it will work.

Yeah, let me go out on the ocean with emergency gear, and hope that it works because DLNR says it will.

I'm really starting to hate Hawaii.

Test fire a flare gun at Kokohead?  For real?

Test fire it from the boat.  The good ship Cheyenne used to do "Mk-43 training" every time we left Pearl.  Skipper would call down for ten bags of popped popcorn, throw them in the drink, and then they'd all shoot at them.  They called it training, I think it was more like, "The skipper is from Texas and wants to shoot machine guns".  At any rate, if you wanted to be really safe you could go outside 12 nautical miles from land (if your boat is big enough) and shoot anything you want.  Freedom is only 12 miles away in Hawaii--too bad it's all underwater.

I've hated Hawaii for a long time.  If half the population of Oahu would move, and they'd give me a week to go through the statutes with a pen and make the changes I want, I'd love it to death, though!
I'm just a fluffy white bunny rabbit who lost his way.

Didn't an RO shoot an M203 replica flare gun, started a fire, and then got arrested for it at Kokohead range?
The Supreme Court has ruled that you, as an individual, have no right to protection by the police. Their only obligation is to protect "society".

Yes and that's why I laugh that a State official suggested it.
