i've been reading so many amazing testimonials for this stuff, like a flood getting into this guys gun safe, then having his guns sit in flood water for a week. no damage whatsoever, even on the wood stock long guns. then i went to a few LGS and sports authority AND walmart and couldn't find the stuff! i like the fact that i can use it on my rifles and my air guns. has anyone used it? where the hell do you buy it? i tried amazon, they don't ship solvents or aerosol cans.

Honolulu Firearms on Queen Street sells it. I use it to clean all my guns, and it works great. The longer you use it, the better the metal retains a sheen. Also, it has a almost pine tree like smell to it, which is easy on the nose.

I use it regularly.  Good stuff -- It's basically a CLP.  Plus it's not toxic  - german soldiers used it to treat wounds.   The smell is controversial.  I like it.  Others hate it.   It is works slow  so give it time to work.  Hickok45 on youtube is a big advocate of it.

ballistol is legit.

i liked it so much i bought a gallon off of ebay. was under 120 shipped if i remember correctly.
the gunshows usually have ballistol for good prices.
if you can get the aerosol version for cheap get one too. ive tried putting ballistol in a manual pump misting sprayer, but the oil is so fine and penetrates all the seals it leaks after a week and renders my 20 dollar olive oil misters useless.

I use it, I like especially for my wood stocked guns, because the whole thing just gets a good wipe down with it when I'm done.  It made my m1as wood stock real pretty.  The smell is well... unique.

I know I've seen it at security equipment in aerosol cans.  But where I first got it was at the gun show at blaisdell last year.  They had a booth set up selling it for cheaper than normal.  I bought a big can of it and I'm only about halfway thru it.

I bought mine some time ago at Young Guns. I dilute it with water and use it to clean up after using corrosive ammo.

A long time ago I saw this YouTube vid on this stuff. Some guy was all flamed up like a pack'a hemorrhoids about some other vid where someone advised using it on all guns. His point was that ballistol is a strong solvent of copper AND gold and nickel and other corrosion resistant metals so he advised NOT to use it on any gun played or with decorative finishes in such metals, for cleaning and especially for storage, as it will dissolve such metals. Aside from the great advice the guy was hysterical; was all pissed off at the guy who posted the bad advice vid and cursing like someone just shit in his cereal. I'll try n find it and post the link.

that video is hilarious, that guy is pissed lol. very informative though.

yeah i ended up buying an aerosol can from magnum. thanks for the advice! it was about $12 for a 6oz can. not bad. im probably going to use it as my main bore cleaning solution sprayed on patches for my AR and my airguns.
