Or what about impaled. Set on a sharpened stick, up his butt, and it would take a couple of days for the weight of his body to pull the stick up into his vitals.

Or what the mongols did, cut off sections of skin and let the fly's plant their eggs and the maggots eat him from the inside out. Takes couple weeks.
