Where is your undeniable truth and FACTS that this occurring? No BS, no double speak, no “this is what I was told”, just absolute fact. If you can’t provide it then keep it to yourself. 8)

Few dozen articles on it. Here's the undeniable truth and facts. That its happening. Unless this was trumps goal. He has failed in Iran policy.
Took just seconds to find it on Google again.

Yeah, it was all Trump's fault.
Oh, wait! From the article YOU posted:
Iran has resumed enriching uranium to 20% purity, in its most significant breach yet of its
2015 deal with world powers to end nuclear sanctions.
...
President Hassan Rouhani had ordered the move because he was "bound" by a new law
requiring the production and storage of at least 120kg (265lbs) of 20%-enriched uranium
annually for peaceful purposes, he said.
Iran's parliament passed the law following the assassination in late November of the country's
top nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, which Iranian leaders blamed on Israel.
So, how is Trump to blame when Iran blamed Israel?
-
Yeah, it was all Trump's fault.

Trump has ties with Isreal, ordered the attack on the general and pulled out of the agreement. It's not like it was one thing that caused it. Also if you ignored all of that it happened under his administration he is responsible.

Expect oil prices to go way up after he shuts down a lot of the areas Trump opened up for drilling and fracking.

Yes, he already talked about shutting down the Keystone pipeline.
-
Expect crime and violence to go up after he stops building the border wall and opens up the country to mass immigration from South of the border and eases restrictions from the 7 radical Moslem countries.
-
Last I checked, since the election day, he has already ignored BLM and it's been at the time 54 days.
Now the 8K caravan is moving thru Mexico and he told them "now is not the time to come here".
So good that he isn't keeping those promises so far. But he did mention amnesty for illegals who were in the US prior to 1/1/21. That's about 11 million illegals.

I predict Joe will become a prompter-puppet while Harris writes the script -- until 3 years in, when Biden suddenly becomes incompetent and is removed. That's an extra 3 years she can play President behind the scenes before running as the lone Dem nominee. Nobody would dare campaign in the primaries against her.

Yeah, the younger guys are screwed. Not too much in HI, but more like the boarder states when it comes to "let everyone in" attitude". We saw how that played out in the EU. 400% increase in rape (England), but yet orangeman bad.

Someone please define "racial equity," and how the people of mixed race lineage are supposed to be included in that scheme.
Not every racial argument is Black and White. Most race-based policies are geared toward preferential treatment of non-whites. Obama was mixed race: Black-African and White. Even black voters thought he wasn't "black enough," because his life experiences growing up didn't mirror those of most mainland Blacks, especially in inner cities.
Race is NOT the issue. Using race as a political issue IS the issue.

If anything I post less now. Trumps gone and hopefully for good. I could care less about him now, he is now irrelevant. Just making sure the truth is still spoken about him. If Biden screws up, which he might I will be against him too. Didn't vote for either. I will judge fairly based on actions not political parties. Trump was bad, Biden is unknown. I will give him a chance and see what he does.

Backpedaling and lying can’t get you out of this. If I don’t quote anything then don’t FUCKING ANSWER!!! DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING! Your stupidity is showing again. You stuck your foot in your mouth and you are not man enough to admit it. Lying again and again is why you have no credibility here. Making shit up is not what a real man would do. It is what a short meek little man who lies through his teeth would do. DO NOT QUOTE ME DO NOT ANSWER ME. JUST IGNORE ME LIKE I WAS DOING TO YOU UNTIL YOU FUCKING TRIED TO SHOW ME UP AND YOU GOT CAUGHT IN ANOTHER LIE.
-
Passive aggressive non quoting while attacking an "unknown" person. While being obvious you are attacking someone but don't want to be blamed. Also while blaming others and attack others for things you don't agree with. I think that's less manly. "Ignoring" people because it doesn't fit in then acting like a child when they say certain ideas. Sure sounds childish.
I've attempted to stop quoting you and just add information to a thread. But clearly that doesn't always work out.

It points out a major weakness in conservatives. We take these radicals at their word but their word means nothing to them, only winning at any cost. At some point you have to say enough, but apparently someone likes keeping their obnoxious pet troll around and shrugging their shoulders as he humps everyones leg. Maybe they think he is increasing participation, but right now is a time for planning and these stupid games are only disrupting that process.
-
Not everyone is a mega conservative. I hope everyone here realises this. We will never keep our gun rights keeping away the independents and even some liberals.
Nothing is wrong with trying to assist ideals. Every liberal I meet I try and spread some conservative values like immigration and guns. And the conservatives I spread pro choice and religion separation of state etc.

The local gun community here is more liberal than some on the mainland. I just keep to myself at the range. I don't socialize with anyone anymore because of some attacks here. Some people's online personas are different than in-person. If I don't know you well - I really don't care about any new firearms or firearm gadgets you acquired. So don't take any offense on my opinions. I just go to the range to shoot.
I won't be attending any pro 2a rallies anymore.

Sorry to hear that. I think we should have a party. Nothing serious, just a get together to remind everyone how much we have in common

Derailing the same thread again.... I'm shocked!
The topic is not about you, yet here you are making it about yourself again.
If you feel the need to directly address another member, USE PM. Making public comments won't add weight to your reply.
If you aren't man/woman enough to speak directly to someone in PM without an audience, just don't reply.
If you can't or won't stop doing this, it only proves you're a troll ... trying to start squabbles in the public threads.

First of all, even though it was your post that got my attention, I was trying to be nice and not single you out and get everybody back on the subject. Not just you. That is why I posted to everyone and not just to you. But the next post from you was a direct insult because you quoted me directly and threw your insult at me. That is how this whole thing got started. And then tried to cover up your ignorance by backpeddling and lying about your comment. You really think you know me and you can read my mind so when I speak to everyone, you think I am speaking only to you. It appears to me you are a very sensitive person and there are certain subjects that trigger your emotional instability and when that happened you quoted me incorrectly and then insulted me. You really need to seek help for this.
First lie: Passive aggressive non quoting? You make up these stupid statements or is someone writing this for you? If I don’t post anything to you directly that can’t that be passive aggressive. If I don’t post directly to you I am talking to everyone. I am always quite clear about what I say to you directly and what I say to everyone. What a moronic statement. Your idiocy speaks for itself. And your paranoia and narcissism is showing again.
Second lie: I didn’t attack anyone. If I wanted to attack you I would have. I am not afraid to stand up to you. I would think my past exposure of your lying and BSing is quite apparent on this forum. I can’t figure out how my question to everyone about staying on topic was an attack on you personally. Unlike you, I say what I mean and if I wanted to talk straight to you I would have. I have been very clear for months now that I don’t want to talk to you and I have asked you nicely to not talk to me. You are entitled to your opinion. But you are not entitled to insult and attack people here without justification. So once again you think you are so superior mentally that you know what is in my mind and think I am talking to you when I was talking to everyone. That is classic paranoia. And your feelings get hurt too easily. Maybe Flapp has gotten into your brain about hijacking threads so much that when I asked a simple question about staying on topic you think it is all about you. Typical narcissism. The world does not revolve around you.
Third lie: I did not blame others nor attack others about anything. I asked a simple question to everyone about staying on topic and I get singled out and insulted by you. Plain and simple. I can hardly wait to hear how you are going to backpeddle some more and try to BS your way out of this. Go back and read again each post one by one. I asked everyone that I thought we were supposed to stay on topic. And the next post from you quoted me directly and insulted me. That is not my blaming anyone nor is it attacking anyone. I can’t help it if it hurt your itty bitty fweewings. BTW, if I wanted to attack you I would have quoted you and said so. Once again, I was trying to be nice to everyone about keeping on topic and you now try and turn it around as I am attacking you. Is that what being nice gets me on this board?
Fourth lie: You attempted to stop quoting me? That’s your biggest lie here! The fact that you quoted me in the first place is proof that you didn’t try at all and are lying about it.   You don’t think everyone here doesn’t see that?
Bottom line is this. I have done everything I can to keep this sort of thing from happening. I have asked you numerous times to not talk to me. Why? Because I am not looking to argue with you. You are entitled to your opinion as I am. So I asked you nicely to quit talking to me directly. Don’t quote me, just post your opinion. I have done the same. You want to post opposing views go right ahead. But you want to quote me and start an argument and insult me all because you don’t agree with what I am saying. YOU STARTED THIS by quoting me and insulting me. I am trying to avoid arguing with you because it gets nowhere. Its a waste of my time and yours. Post your opinions all you want. Don’t quote me, don’t attack me and don’t insult me. That is all I ask and that is what I have been doing. I have asked you to do the same. That is what I am trying to avoid here and yet you continue to quote me and insult me. You call me immature for trying to avoid arguments. But because you started this argument with the lies and the insults it appears you are the one acting immature. I have tried not to start anything with you. It is too bad you have not been a big enough man to do the same.

Exactly. Trump brought us into energy independence. We stopped buying oil from our enemies and from nations that are not that friendly. We have been enjoying the fruits of his efforts in the way of low gas prices. But now it looks like we need to go back to buying oil from foreign countries. Higher prices, less jobs and independence on other countries for our lifeline is what we have to look forward to in a Biden administration and economy.

I remember when Creepy-Sleepy Joe Biden said he was the candidate who is for "the working man."
As usual, Candidate Biden says one thing and does the opposite once elected*.
He's been in politics for almost 50 years. He was VP under Obama for 8. He's been characterized by many in high level positions as having been wrong on foreign and national security issues every single time.
Anyone who belives Creepy Joe is an "unknown" is proving themselves to be willfully ignorant.

Being a blue collar worker most of my career I feel for the working class that are going to be negatively effected by this pipeline closing. That is a lot of lost jobs with one ignorant signature. Most of them live paycheck to paycheck but at least most can afford kids and a home. Unfortunately, they could lose it all because of Joe for the working man Biden. Thanks Joe! I am sure all those pipeline workers appreciate your ignorant policies. Like most Democrat policies there are intended and unintended consequences that you obviously don’t give a fuck about.

Joe campaigned saying, "Those fossil fuel workers can retrain to work in Green Energy."
Seems to me a smart person would make the retraining options available BEFORE taking away all those workers' means to earn a living.
Those green jobs DO NOT EXIST.
Typical incompetence from the Democrat Party, no matter WHO is in charge.

No shit, nor will they as long as we have Democrats.
Not only that but their crude technology
is so immature it isn't going to happen.
The biggest problem is the politics.
We could electrify the entire country.
The most available green
power source can't be used because
of scaredy cat women, soy boys, and
political people cutting corners.
Nuclear.

The whole point in that in the next upcoming bills will introduce a massive infrastructure overhaul with a green energy focus. Which will generate far more jobs than that shitty pipeline of the past.

The whole point is promises do not pay worker's bills -- especially if the promises have already been tried and proven to fail.
Biden is an Obama disciple. Obama pushed green energy at tax payer expense (Solyndra?) and failed.
Stop being ignorant -- or a liar.
The only jobs these green energy "bills" will make are unemployment office workers.
-
If he passes some infrastructure bills and "green" tech rebuilds like charging stations etc to replace, 100,000 + jobs will be made. Its a good undo in my opinion. Gas is not the future.
If BS was $$ you’d be a millionaire..... like I said before...sit on a tack and rotate... >:D

He makes all this shit up, then tries to peddle it as fact, even though Biden has offered NO PLANS to do ANYTHING.
Passing a Bill is not a plan. What bill? To force companies to produce only green energy products? Yeah, right.

So far, plans to allow 11 million illegals who were here prior to 1/1/21 to stay.
The DACA people? Good, I say let them stay as long as they complied with the rules of the program and didn't become criminals.
Instead of grumbling maybe we should just try to court them to the ways of conservatism.

We keep doing that same thing over and over....
Illegals enter the country.
They have kids.
Eventually, we grant amnesty to them.
The expectation of amnesty continues to draw even more into the country.
In the meantime, the cost of labor becomes more depressed, so actual citizens born in the US can't find a job that pays the bills.
But, as long as ILLEGALS who TRESPASSED into the US are treated fairly, as well as their babies, that's all that matters. F*ck the citizens.
The last time we did an amnesty deal, it was supposed to be in conjunction with a new border wall, better enforcement and deportations, and whatever else could be done to prevent another need for amnesty.
See how well that worked out? Dems never follow through with their promises once they get what they wanted, whether it's better border security for amnesty, spending cuts for tax increases, etc, etc. Those of us who lived through the Reagan and GHW Bush years saw this bait and switch BS over and over.

Few times I agree with flapp. Immigration is good and the foundation of America but that's legal immigration. Not illegal immigration which hurts those who aibe the law. Even if those DACA children are innocent they are a byproduct of a crime. Just like how America doesn't negotiate with terrorists for the fear there will be more terrorists. Allowing this to happen will just encourage more illegal immigration and crime.

The next amnesty will destroy what is left of the United States.

Would not surprise me to find out that the big pharma insulin makers made giant donations to Biden's campaign and to other Dem candidates and AGAINST Trump.
Just like with Solyndra, if you make big enough donations, the candidates will "wash your back" when they get in office.

Where is that Constitution and Bill of rights I asked for?
As of now, I can't answer that.
Unlike some Hawaiians claiming to be King or Head-of-State, I am a firm believer of a republic form of government. Hence, I would be, as dictatorial to anoint a constitution and bill of rights made legal by self-proclamation.
There are still a great number of Hawaiians and locals that need to be brought-up to speed with what is going on. On this forum alone, you very well know that there are those that still have not come to grips that the America they knew, which was subverted a long time ago, has finally made its grand opening announcement that it is an official empire, with the blatant overthrow, of the would-be legally elected Donald Trump, orchestrated by the power okole.
Unfortunately, this process is a very slow and tedious one that can't be rushed prematurely. Similar to the galvanization of Hawaiians, for the inconsequential TMT, the galvanization of American patriots this past January 6th does reaffirm that the fire is there and needs to grow. Hence, as hard as it is to swallow, patience and surviving the current injustices are the words for now. Anything done in haste, at this moment in time, would be folly.
-
What happens concerns all humans. And democracy in the world. Against communists. We stand for freedom. Freedom for all even non American imperialists.
How about freedom for Hawaiians and the de-occupation of Hawaii, from the US empire?
Or do Hawaiians and American patriots, who both had their legally elected leader overthrown, by the US empire, don't qualify as humans, in your interpretation, of "freedom for all"?

I do not believe in punishing someone for the sins of their fathers. Sanction the parents but not the children whose illegality is the fault of their parents. If they registered as part of the DACA program and haven't been shown to be criminals then they are showing themselves to be doing the right thing to rectify their situation.
Plus, you seem to be referring to anchor babies, not dreamers.

I guess you ARE for punishing all the foreigners who did it right and legally, though. They were all suckers for coming in through the front door, waiting their turn, paying their costs, taking the classes and being admitted properly. All they really had to do was sneak in and avoid deportation until they had kids who qualify for DACA.
Do you really think it's punishment for the kids of criminals to get to stay when there are kids of others being admitted legally still waiting for admittance?
It's not about punishing anyone. If the DACA anchor babies who are adults now want to stay, they apply for residence and citizenship like EVERY OTHER LEGAL IMMIGRANT. Ask yourself why they haven't done that already? Could it be because they would rather sit quietly and wait until someone like Biden forgives their trespasses?
-

Irrelevant. We have DACA kids here who are basically American and may not speak any language of their place of birth and may not have any connections but we are supposed to send them back?
DACA and anchor babies are two separate issues. Anchor babies are citizens, we can't deport them, they are not part of DACA.
Plus the DACA program was to get these people a legal immigrant status. It wasn't some blanket pardon. It was like a plea deal in court, a DAG (deferred acceptance of guilt) where the criminal completes a set of requirements and at the end their record is cleared. You suggestion that they apply just like everyone else doesn't even work. If someone is in the USA illegally and they want to apply for a green card they have to leave the country, apply, and wait for the decision. If they were here for more than 180 days they may be barred from a green card for up to 10 years. That simply isn't a realistic solution to the problem.

XO to under trans ban in military. With trumps xo, a person must serve as their biological gender and cant receive any gender reassessment treatment.
Now they can ID as what ever and can receive treatment.
So guy/girl on hormone trearment gets deployed mid cycle. What could go wrong?
ID says male for a born female. Said soldier gets captured. All intel reports say a captired female is in AO. Not a "male". So military overlooks it cause a female, not a male was found. False intel report. What could go wrong?

Tax payers should not be providing ELECTIVE medical treatments or surgeries to soldiers. PERIOD!!
If the military pays for reassignment surgeries and all the other treatments needed to transition (counseling, hormones, augmentations, etc.), where does it end? I should be able to request treatments for baldness, teeth whitening, cosmetic surgery and other elective medical treatments, all paid by the DoD.
There are people leading normal 9-5 lives and decide to halt the transition process because it's just too much work. With the hormones, hair removal, makeup, and exercises needed to change their appearance, it's just too much work and inconvenience. Imagine trying to do that and maintain a 24/7/364 readiness posture.
I still think this issue involves too much of a psychological component to allow transgenders to serve. It's a risk. Statistically, almost half of transgenders attempt suicide -- about 40% that we know of. We have a rising rate of suicide in the military. Now, combine the two. See any problems?
I've read opinions on why transgenders attempt suicide. None of that matters, since the stats are the stats. DoD is about reducing risk for recruits, not taking on existing problems. We have enough applicants without mental health issues. No sense in giving that slot to a transgender and risking mission readiness.
The military has always been a Democrat playground for social experimentation. Where else can they order people to follow their behavioral dictates?

And are the dreamers really a threat? How are they a threat?

Yes, DACA kids are not citizens. What I was saying is that they grew up here, in our culture and in our language. They basically live as do any actual US citizen.
I do agree we should take a firm stance on people who entered here illegally as an adult. Deport them and they can take their DACA kids if they want but kicking the DACA people out punishes them for something they had no control over, a wrong they didn't choose to commit.
It is not the fault of a DACA kid who signed up for the program Obama put in place. Just like a tax loophole, you can't fault the taxpayer who uses the ta code available to them. Don't have to renew the DACA program and accept new applicants but the people who did comply with the government program should be dealt with according to the fact that they complied with the rules of the program.
-

And are the dreamers really a threat? How are they a threat?
Give them option:
Apply for citizenship -- 3 yr time limit
Serve 4 years active or 8 years reserve military duty
Options .... if you really want to stay and become a citizen, contribute in some meaningful way that shows you are an American, not just an illegal alien who believes they are victims of their parents and the immigration system.
Their parents brought them here in hopes of making their futures better. They need to show they want to live up to that promise and not become a burden to the citizens.
-

In an unfortunate way yes. They were unlucky because of their parents actions. Perhaps a middle ground would be not to give them citizenship and have them remain in limbo for the rest of their lives. There needs to be some sort of example. If not the next batch of illegals will do the same thing and it will never end. I know it might seem heartless but something has to be done to stop the law breaking.

The gym I trained at for my bodybuilding competition also had a woman who was a man and competed in the mens physique division. She had her boobs removed and was on the juice. Actually looked like a dude if you didn't know any better. Her bf was born a dude, but ID'd as a female. So it was a total opposite kind of relationship. Since then, the guy who ID'd as a female committed suicide.
So this female who competed was also in the military and had to wear the female uniform, even though she was built like a dude due to the test supplements. Wasn't too bad with the ACU's, but when it came to the class A uniforms, she was uncomfortable.

Sounds good to me. Military service is a good idea but I would throw in another option as well for those who might not physically qualify for the military.

Where has anyone here said they were for private prisons?
Granted there would certainly be a conservative argument for privatizing prisons but I think we would all have valid fears if companies can take over whether were are in jail or not.
I think private business can play a roll in prisons, performing some limited functions to save money but I wouldn't be comfortable with a completely private prison for ways it could be abused.

Elijah Shafer was "fact checked" and posted on his IG about it.
Basically thousands of jobs were not lost due to the Keystone XO, because they said they "plan" to terminate and haven't done it yet.
ISIS has appeared again-Fact checked that they fizzled out and didn't totally disappear

Saw an interview with a pipe fitters union rep. They had their workers holding off on starting any new work and were spending last week putting equipment in storage. As soon as the XO is official and no legal challenges are stopping it, the layoffs will begin in large numbers.
Fact checkers are idiots. Why does anyone even pretend they have special insight or access to facts?

This is why bipartisan support is needed for the green infrastructure deal. All those oil workers will get layed off then, can go work for green tech and infrastructure. If not they are eligible for unemployment and those responsible for holding off the green bill will be responsible.

So, if YOU got laid off because Big Tech bought out your contract with the state and replaced you with their employee, and there was no other place hiring because Big Tech pretty much bought out ALL gov't contracts (kickback for helping Joe win), assuming there are no more IT jobs you're qualified for in the area, what job would you turn to?
These displaced pipeline workers in many cases spent decades learning and practicing the skills they needed to be productive and knowledgable in their CAREERS. Not just jobs -- CAREERS. Now you think they should start over at the bottom of a new industry in which they have no experience or training?
You Liberals are all alike in this one aspect -- you belive everyone is the same -- except for you personally. You want everyone to get $15/hr because they are as important to the company as the managers and owners. You want to shutdown industries and expect all the workers in that sector to magically find jobs WITH THE SAME PAY AND BENEFITS with a company in a different sector.
Maybe Liberals who only work in government can make lateral moves to jobs in other areas with little training or experience, but that's not true of every field.
What about the people who are in their 40s, 50s and 60s? Are they supposed to start at the bottom in a new job? Bottom jobs provide bottom pay. These people have mortgages, families to support and retirement accounts to fund.
This all assumes there are going to be the same number of "green" jobs available in the areas where the pipeline workers live.
There's a recession coming that's going to be on par with the one Obama failed to deal with. We don't see it now, because the economy is shut down for the most part. When it reopens, people are going to be out of work, expecting gov't assistance, and looking for jobs with businesses that are shut down for good or not hiring until they dig out from under the pandemic costs.
So simple to say, "Learn to code," which Candidate Biden was telling people. Unless you post that on Twitter -- they'll ban you for that.
BTW, coding really doesn't pay that well.

I will find another job in my field or get retrained. You know they need pipe for green projects too right? Many of those oil jobs can be easily cross trained. So no most of those jobs are not going to disappear. An electrician will be able to work on the oil pipeline or the green infrastructure. Concreate guy, steel worker and hundreds of similar positions. Its mostly construction. Unless maybe the literal oil drilling ones but this pipeline wasn't about those. And even those they need to drill (less deep) for foundation/etc for green projects.

Imagine not having income for the time it takes you to "retrain." Companies do not hire people that have to be trained for more than the lowest paid positions -- laborers. Do you think people with mortgages and other debt can survive on unemployment until they get a similar salary? What about people with degrees and higher education? How quickly can those diplomas be replaced with education in another career?
There are other pipeline jobs in the areas where these people now live? Please, list them for us.
What Green projects need pipes the size of XL? I didn't know we could pipe solar and wind energy to the places it's needed. Good to know.

Imagine a system where if one loses their job they get money to retrain and find another job...wonder what that could be called. Maybe unemployment...
Like I said most of those jobs "lost" are construction. The skills transfer right over. No real retraining, no loss of income, new project that's all. Just like normal. Construction guys have different projects all the time, none are the same. Just like in this case. Instead of building a pipeline they build green tech, like solar farms. Battery charge stations, rail, and millions of other construction projects. Its not like all they can do their entire life is work on XL pipes...

Do some research into how much you get from unemployment, then tell me it can pay all your bills, including rent or mortgage, while you spend 1, 2 or more years taking classes to start a new career. And, if you take a low-paying job to supplement unemployment, you'll lose your gov't benefits. Have you looked at the cost of education? What about the student loan burdens people are screaming about?
If it was that easy, everyone on unemployment would be enrolled in college.
Millions of other construction projects?
You listed 2, and only 1 has to do with construction.

Following Hawaii's decision last year to end its retail net metering program, 88% of solar companies are reporting job losses, according to a solar advocacy group which monitors clean energy employment in the state.
According to the Hawaii Solar Energy Association, solar employment has declined from 1,131 jobs in October before the net metering decision, to 692 in July. In total, 88% of the companies polled reported job losses.
In addition to job losses, the Grid Supply program has already hit its cap in Maui, the group said, and could come to an end as early as August on Oahu if the interim 35 MW cap is not raised.

I'll have to look up the details and see for myself, but it appears (from what I was told from HR folks today) is that one of Biden's EOs openings things way up for Unions to interject or impose their influence through opening up what constitutes open for negotiation/bargaining. Seems like many of the HR folks are all up in arms about it.

If you weld, pipes you can weld other things for "green" tech.
If you pour concreate, you can do the same for "green" tech.
If you run wires or electric work, you can do the same for "green" tech.
If you survey land for oil pipe, you can do the same for "green" tech.
If you work the desk job documenting things for the oil project you can do the same for "green" tech project.
If you lay foundation for oil pipes, you can do the same for "green" tech.
If you cut trees or move dirt for oil pipes, you can do the same for "green" tech.
Its not a hard concept to understand that skills and trades don't really change just the project does. If you all can't get that there is no amount of explaining I can do to fix that.

If you understand reality, those jobs are not going to exist in the places the people being fired live.
Will these green jobs offer relocation costs, home selling guarantees and other benefits? Where will these people be forced to move? Why are they required to leave their homes near family, friends and businesses they have relationships with?
You really have no clue. Creating jobs in Kentucky or Mississippi to replace jobs in North and South Dakota is not a replacement job. It's a job someone living in that are will take instead of the fired person.

Oil pipeline, this topic is about oil pipeline. Not every gas or oil job. All those jobs lost are 100% are involved in THIS PROJECT that was canceled. This XO does not cancel oil jobs across America... I hope they do offer those benefits for those that need, but its not like those states will never be able to benefit from renewed infrastructure or green energy. North Dakota needs solar as much as Kentucky.

You're correct. And people moved or quite their old jobs to take pipeline jobs.
Also, people in local towns hired employees for food service, garages to repair vehicles, barbers, retail ... everyone who supports the workers on the pipeline also benefit from the worker's income. Is the gov't going to give them free college to retrain because their business had to close when the pipeline no longer generated customers?
This thread is about BIDEN, not the pipeline. Stop being obtuse and ignorant. Biden has already said he's planning to get rid of the fossil fuel industry. How is this NOT talking about every gas and oil job across the country?
If you think solar is green, you really are ignorant. It takes fossil fuels to gather the raw materials, to manufacture them, to ship them from China, and to transport them across the country. If you can't understand how all that fuel is offsetting any reduction in carbon emissions from "green energy", then you're not thinking critically -- if at all.

Solar farms, and I have no issue with that in my backyard. I would put my own if I owned enough land and could go off grid. If you have no wind or solar, you have batteries or can turn on gas generators. But hopefully most of the time you are on green energy.

You have no empathy for those homeowners in Kahuku. Everything in your justification is based on your small perception of things.
Did you do the math for the storage capacity of being off grid? Cost? Life expectancy of the specific batt tech you will buy? What if there is a long period of rain? My avg electricity consumption is 9kwh a day. These past days of rain my PV only produced 24 kwh during the day. I have no storage but if I had that's already a 3kwh deficit.
A Tesla Powerwall 1 stated a capacity of about 6kwh and I got a quote for $12k. I;m not sure if that;s 6kwh of usable energy because lithium batteries don't like to be discharged to less than 30%. So I'd really need at least 2 Powerwalls. To top it off PV panels degrade anywhere from 10-20 years. I have no plan at this time to address that lifecycle.
Other factors are your location to estimate how much sunshine your home will receive. If your home doesn't support panels facing the south your PV efficiency is significantly reduced.
So solar is that perpetual energy solution as all these "greeners" claim?

As energy storage systems are improved and built, no wind and no sunlight become less of an issue, plus they can always be supplemented when necessary with oil powered sources.
And I would prefer a wind turbine in my back yard to an oil drill, a refinery, or oil powered electrical plant.

Rather a large non sequitur fallacy there. Just because no one praised the idea doesn't mean they are against it.

Where do you live now? We can't drill for oil here in Hawaii and there's only one refinery now located in a Campbell INDUSTRIAL Park. Less than 30% of our power in Hawaii comes from petroleum. So moot point there as it is highly unlikely you will live near a petrol plant.

And that's the irony there; supposedly "green" energy solutions (with all those concrete foundations) supplemented with carbon fuel sources.
With that said, wonder why we have one of the nation's highest per kwh rate?

But there’s a pending court appeal, and opponents also have several concerns, including the impact the turbines may have on the Kahuku community and on wildlife, such as the Hawaiian hoary bat.
“We are not here to protest green energy. We want green energy. We’re just here to say we don’t need anymore monstrosities in our backyard,” said project opponent Malia Alatasi.

Feel free to come up with other options on your own.
I can't do ALL the heavy lifting! :geekdanc:
Really? You are the originator of the idea for people to earn citizenship through military service? Bravo!
-
Rather a large non sequitur fallacy there. Just because no one praised the idea doesn't mean they are against it.
That's true. My bad.
-
Where do you live now? We can't drill for oil here in Hawaii and there's only one refinery now located in a Campbell INDUSTRIAL Park. Less than 30% of our power in Hawaii comes from petroleum. So moot point there as it is highly unlikely you will live near a petrol plant.

And that's the irony there; supposedly "green" energy solutions (with all those concrete foundations) supplemented with carbon fuel sources.
With that said, wonder why we have one of the nation's highest per kwh rate?

Do you have a plan for energy independence, green energy, etc? Or do you just want to hate all alternatives without providing any of your own and keep going down the same path. Solar and wind are not perfect buts its a good direction and will have more benefits in the long run. Also in the long run are those concrete pilings going to produce more waste than bringing oil/gas the whole time?

adults say, "i was wrong"

as you can see folks some people are driven by feelings and are too lazy to do the analysis about the alternatives. I've adopted PV, have a hybrid and commute ala electric bike. but yet the pissant douche head accuses me of the opposite. Folks. It's a lot of work to be "green". Are you willing to put up with it? People tease me about my hybrid car and the like. WIll you give up your ICE vehicle? Will you minimize your ego and go "green"? Give up your truck. Give up your fast car.? I also recycle cans and harvest lithium batts from old electronics. Is it worth it? Nope. Along with "upcycling" stuff Lots of work.
Hey omni did you adopt any of those "green" energy resources ? Solar, wind, electric vehicles? Recycle rainwater? Compost?

A bike is made in a factory that uses some sort of oil product and has a waste product. So foot mobile barefoot is the only green way. Even shoes are made in factories.

So Biden halts oil permits. Estimate 1 million jobs lost by next year. But hey, it's OK these 1 million people can find something else to do.

same old rhetoric from the pissant do-nothing State worker. YOU do something while I sit back and argue. All talk and no walk (now that CMO pointed out that bikes aren't green either :-[ )

Quote from Senator Ted Cruz yesterday:
“Don’t be fooled by President Biden's claim that climate day at the WH = jobs day. Just because he says it’s “jobs day” doesn’t mean it’s true. Today’s climate EO would result in the loss of over 80,000 blue-collar jobs in Texas -- the most of any state.”

I haven't I don't own property to put renewable resources on. I plan to though. I also plan to go electric for car and try bike or walk when I move closer to work. When the rail arrives I'll be using that. I also recycle, try and buy green products without chemicals etc. In the state the largest uses of gas and oil is electricity and cars. IF we can get renewable for electricity and start to mandate or encourage electric car usage we can eliminate the 2 largest problems. Hence wind and solar farms.

It's all good casue they can find another job. And so can the indirect revenue people can too. Like the town closest to any project. Coffee, food, entertainment, lodging ,etc...all can make income from doing something else.

In my day, we called this "paying lip service." Now, it's called "virtue signaling."
Limbaugh coined a term for people who lived as they wish yet dictated to others how they should live: "Limousine Liberals." They want EVERYONE to live as THEY believe everyone should, but they are unwilling to take that first step themselves unless everyone is FORCED to live that way. Al Gore is a perfect example of this. His lifestyle is magnitudes more damaging to the Earth than the average man or woman, but he lectures everyone else on their "carbon footprint."
OmniGoon doesn't live the life he STATED should be FORCED on us (mandate). Hypocrite doesn't seem to be strong enough to describe the arrogance here.
I plan to sell all my stuff, my homes, and donate everything to charity. Then I plan to move to Calcutta and spend the rest of my life helping the helpless, because suffering needs to end, and Americans consume too much.
How many virtue points is that worth? Do I get a Nobel Prize?

"If I could afford to live like I preach, I would. It's SOMEBODY ELSE preventing me from doing so -- the gov't for not mandating it for all, or individuals for not giving me free money."
Do you see billionaires and millionaires (most of Congress) living "green"? Do they need to demand that others fund them, too? Or is it something else? They have the money to give up SUVs and buy electric cars. They can afford to live closer to work. They can make their homes 100% renewable energy.
They all choose not to. Why? Because it's not about the cost of going green for them. They can afford LUXURY and CONVENIENCE. So they opt for those things because they think they deserve it. If the country were forced to go 100% green in 5 years, they would still demand luxury and convenience. They won't share in the misery, because they are in charge.
Meanwhile, people like you believe in the lies and rhetoric and blame anyone else you can think of as to why you can't follow your ideals.
Marx was right. It's a game to keep the haves and have-nots at each others' throats. The "haves" will always be the reason you "have-not" are living as you do. It'll never be because of the choices you made or the risks you avoided.

I'd be a lot healthier if I could afford fresh vegies and all non-GMO organic products. McD's and Wendy's are cheaper.
I'd be in great shape if I could afford a fitness club membership.
I'd be running my own business if I could afford the startup capital.
I'd be using solar if I could afford the installation and owned a home.
I'd be using wind if I owned a home with enough property.
I'd be rich if I wasn't buying guns I never intend to shoot.
I'd have more money if I wasn't getting scammed for things I don't need, like guns and VR goggles.
If you're waiting for someone else to make you a successful adult, the problem isn't other people.

You are the one complaining I didn't follow through. I do what I can, but I can only do so much. So I work hard, save up so one day I can live up to me ideals and dreams. I work hard so one day I can do everything I preach, unlike you who just complains. I don't expect handouts but I also don't expect to be able to do everything right now.

I hate to say this but that poor kid wouldn’t last 5 minutes working construction. If he was not run out on a rail, he would quit from embarrassment. And he would learn a lot of very hard life lessons. It’s easy to stay in your little state run bubble posting on forums trying to act big but keep getting cut down. If he is trying to make friends here he is not doing very good.
Working for my last employer I saw junior engineers (Millennials) being sent out to do my job when I was tied up on other projects and they would come back in tears. They all got pushed around, made fun of and a couple were threatened. I hated to see it, but I hoped they learned something from their experience.

Worked for a general contractor as a project engineer. Left and worked overseas after 6 months. Lots of money to be made but I hated going to work. Not a CE but some of the older PEs treated me as such. Old crusty PE with lots of CE credentials threw me a transit (WTF is this?) and gave me a 3 minute lesson on how to use it. Next day he expected me to use it proficiently. I failed. Then he made my service record trivial and that was the last straw. So threw in the hat and went back to the sand box.
-
Don’t feel bad about the transit! Keiwit, the contractor out on the first half of the rail, did the same thing to me. Gave me a 5 minute lesson on using a transit and expected me to verify their work and do their job for them. In essence trying to make me responsible for their work. After I figured out what was going on I started to purposely come up with different measurements. They finally gave up thinking I didn’t know what I was doing. Little did they know I knew exactly what I was doing!

Until we find a way to harness the Sun's energy without relying on fossil fuels to do it, the only true Green Energy source is nuclear.
With that, we can power homes and businesses day and night. The byproduct that is released is steam.
The amount of materials needed to feed reactors is small compared to fossil fuel generators. Nuclear waste is also less of a problem today than 40 years ago.
Reactors can provide the majority of energy, and that can in turn charge vehicles, reduce dependence on oil, etc.
BTW, anyone who thinks their electric car uses no oil products should not be trusted to manage the maintenance on it.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) slammed John Kerry, the U.S. special presidential envoy for climate, on Wednesday for suggesting that workers losing their jobs in the fossil fuel industry can transition to jobs in clean energy.
“John Kerry – worth hundreds of millions — telling blue-collar workers to just ‘go to work to make the solar panels.’ By the way, solar will pay on average $20K less than oil and gas jobs,” Crenshaw tweeted on Wednesday. “John Kerry thinks you should just shutup and accept it. No.”

That's okay, though. The government will just retrain everyone and pay for it. They will also keep them on unemployment until they are retrained and the nonexistent green jobs magically appear in their town. And, if the pay is lower than their old jobs, well, that's just the price THEY HAVE TO PAY for the Green New Deal supporters to feel good about themselves.

You know the thing is I went and read Joe Biden’s climate and energy plans. What a bunch of BULLSHIT. Not only are they full of lies but they don’t really say anything. They use such big statements like they are going to do this and this. But they NEVER say how they are going to go about implementing these plans or how much these plans will cost. Nor do they say where the money to implement these plans is coming from. So we have to wait to find out what they intend to do and by that time it is too late to vote for the other candidate.
Here is a plan. Why doesn’t Biden incentivize the industry to create jobs FIRST and then slowly and methodically and predictably start to ween us off fossil fuels? In other words, make sure those jobs are there before he rips and tears jobs away from people. Instead, he just rips 15,000 great paying jobs away away from hard working Americans and then tells them to find another job. He provides nothing for them and just says go get another job. He is a liar and full of shit. When will he start “creating” the jobs he just took away? Even if he started tomorrow it would take years before those unemployed pipeline workers are able to get back into employment after being trained. To do what he did, when he did, and how he did is just being an asshole. He has no concern for the American worker. And his actions show it.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not in favor of this as we both know government cannot create jobs in private industry. All they can do is spend our tax dollars to incentivize private industry. Which as we saw with Solyndra it doesn’t guarantee jobs. It just guarantees waste and corruption. To think that ripping all those great paying jobs away from hard working Americans and telling them to just go pound sand as being a good thing for the greater good is just not seeing the bigger picture and is really fucking stupid.

Here is a list, as complete as I could find, of solar panel manufacturers here in the US. And one or two of them may also get their panels from China as well as make them here. Some also may make their panels in Canada. It is hard to say completely. There are 8 listed here. Of the eight, five list their job openings. One of the three that does not list their job openings actually had their website down for maintenance. So they may list their job openings once their website comes back online.
Out of the five sites that list job openings, they show a total of 23 job openings. Of those openings many of them require degrees and/or prior experience. Virtually none of them are manufacturing jobs. And some would require moving to a different country such as Canada or somewhere in Europe.
This is the largest US panel maker. They have a total of 1 degree required opening in Ontario, Canada

Second Largest US Solar Panel Manufacturer does not say how many openings
https://www.missionsolar.com/careers/
Mission Solar’s Sister Company has a total of 1 degree required opening
https://ocisolarpower.com/careers/
Silfab Solar has a total of 7 openings in the US and 5 in Ontario, Canada
https://silfabsolar.com/job-opportunities-2/
Solaria has a total of 1 International Sales opening

Looks to me like Good Ole Joe Biden just fucked 15,000+ pipeline workers out of their jobs, homes and families. Does it matter if they are retrained in making solar panels? Not if there are no job openings. Thanks Joe for undoing 15,000+ American citizens’ jobs. And this was done for the common good? BULLSHIT!

Retirement life must be nice to have the time to do this. But thanks because it gives me info that I can use to other morons on my fb timeline who post about it.
Not really an undo, but he affirmed the Jone's Act that screws HI over.
InB4 it creates American jobs and not realizing it actually killed jobs because they buy ships overseas more due to the cost of the Jone's act that the unions control. And said unions donate buku $ to politicians to keep the status quo.
InB4 it provides more trucking jobs, trucking has always been more cost effective and logistical cause you can't boat stuff from CA to MN. See above about screwing HI.
InB4 magical green cargo ships that run on magic energy.

Thanks, it did take a while. Before you use it on other morons, I suggest you double check my work just in case I made an error. I started this early in the morning without much coffee in me.
I really thought Linda Lingle might have had a chance to do away with the Jones Act. Oh well.....
No union should have that much power over the government and politicians. I hope someday Hawaii voters wake up and vote with their heads instead of their emotions.
There is a reason why ships and planes are not governed by the pollution reduction requirements. Everyone on Hawaii would die if they tried to place those types of restrictions on boats and planes.

IIRC Jone's is a fed act, so Lingle would have no authority to do away with it. She or anyone could petition to have it removed, but it would take DC to do it. I'm not 100% certain of this though.
HI voters are very stupid and will never wake up. Look at where HI is today. For years people been grumbling of gambling being illegal. Now when it has a chance, majority of the comments on multiple FB pages are against it. Guess HI people don't want a 2nd source of revenue besides tourism. Same going on with pakalolo now. There's a bill to make recreational use legal on state level, and many against it. You cannot make this stuff up. Either that or the pages are editing comments.

I have done lots of grunt construction work since I.moved here. I even made a girl that was working with us cry once...
When I started, it was rule by fear. When I went out to construction sites for inspections, the foremen generally were old school. It was the younger apprentice carpenters, iron workers, and ESPECIALLY the plumbers that gave attitude. If the drawings say 1" clear between the duct and rebar, no, it doesn't mean "can see daylight in between".
I was "classically trained" in the use of a transit. Otherwise known as maybe a day or two in a class in college. Surveying was actually super fun. Got to be outside and using the theodolites and other cool stuff.

So the far left Associated Press and the even farther left Washington Post fact checks Biden’s claims that he is going to replace the jobs he just killed with much better solar panel manufacturing jobs and finds out he is lying, would anyone here believe it? Didn’t someone on this thread or another one say Biden was going to do this?

How are you defining green then? Just like how solar panels and batteries involve mining for minerals and refining them so does nuclear energy. It has many benefits and I support it but I wouldn't label it green energy.
Water and gravity, one of the most ancient of technologies is actually proving to be probably one of the most green forms of energy storage to date. Pump water uphill with excess energy during the day/windytime/active wave time/etc then let gravity use it to produce energy on its way down.
Of course electric cars still use some oil but they use a lot less fluids and have fewer parts to go bad and replace. With battery advancements electric cars will definitely be a force to be reckoned with but they aren't quite there yet.

The batteries cause more harm to the environment that gas does. Mining the materials for them is destructive and the batteries cannot be recycled, but must sit in a landfill forever, same goes with the fans on a wind powered turbine. Those have to be replaced and when they do, it just sits.
We went over this with Omni months ago and the convo went in circles. Now add in the XL pipe line, instead of oil being pumped down a tube, now it has to be driven by thousands of trucks and ships, which all consume gas and have pollutants.. Yes that is way more green than having a steel pipe.
The issue with H20 power/Ocean, how many tree hugger org's fight against building such a thing?
I do think some people's hearts are in the right place, but not their brain.
The only thing making E cars cool is Tesla. I know a good amount of Porsche owners who bought 1. They would never buy a Prius or even a BMW E car.

if the Paris CLimate Accord was really about the "climate" they would be installing solar panels, producing electric cars and developing nuclear power instead of being a slush fund for empty promises.

You are correct about the pipeline vs trucks/ships. But I think the goal of this isn't to just stop the pipeline and keep status quo. But to lessen/stop using oil/gas period. The pipeline is just another delay tactic for petro.

The article says the recycling hub won't be "commercialized" until 2022. So, your use of the word "now" is incorrect.
Also, the article states that currently the value of the recycled materials is not sufficient to justify recycling. In real terms, that means the quality of the batteries from recycled material is not as good as the batteries made from new raw materials. Logic says that can lead to additional cost to consumers using those batteries because they wear out quicker or fail to perform to expectations.
Not everything is as it is advertised. The energy needed to recycle and remanufacture lithium batteries is just one aspect. Also have to consider consumer prices compared to new, longevity (number of charge/discharge cycles), power produced, and number of times the material can be recovered (# of times a battery can be recycled and still yield quality material).
Anyway, it's still not working...now.

Has anyone taken apart a lithium based battery pack? Anything. A laptop pack? How about a hybrid vehicle pack?
I can tell you it isn't easy to do. How do you think batt recyclers will accomplish the task cost effectively? Most cells are welded to nickel strips and wired to a BMS (if they are quality packs). So imagine undoing all those processes cost effectively. What do you do with the rest of the pack? The wire, plastic cases etc.?
On a similar note why not recycle electronic components such as capacitors? Anyone bought recycled caps? Because it is cheaper to buy them brand new. To efficiently desolder a cap from a PCB requires a good desoldering tool, some skill and patience. You know how they recycle old electronic PCBs? They burn it.
All that article was is a bunch of fluffy words from a company. They claim to do it but offered no insight to price or how they'd manage the process.
I'd be very interested in how they will accomplish the task. Removing 70 cells from a 52 volt battery pack and then soldering and welding in new cells is a major time consuming project. The article did mention that lithium packs aren't friendly to being recycled. Good reason is that good reliable pack doesn't have loose cells flopping around with springs holding them together. Lithium batts have a higher discharge rate then typical alkaline batts, so safety trumps.convenience.

I had a cell battery (IDK if was lithium) get punctured and it started to smoke and swell. I put it in water and that seemed to only anger it. So I put it on cinder blocks and waited an hour or so until it cooled down.
So moral of the story is that it's not easy to dispose of and can catch fire and burn stuff if not careful. Had I been indoors, it might not have worked out so well.

From that article:
The hub is the centralized refinery to refine the intermediary product
from the spokes into battery-grade materials,
"Refine", to me, says they are not reusing the existing cells in new packaging. Instead, they will liberate the lithium (and whatever else they think they can refine) and send it through the same or similar manufacturing process as a new battery. Sounds like what they do with metals and cardboard now: collect, refine, and manufacture "recycled" materials into something new.
Much more energy use to do that than simply taking existing cells and re-soldering them.
-

That's another aspect of it - safety. I crashed a 500 sized RC heli with a 6S pack once and when the pack detached itself from the heli, 2 cells were punctured and when lithium gets exposed to air - fire!
(https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fsirlingames.squarespace.com%2Fstorage%2Fstreet_fighter%2Fdhalsim_yoga_flame.gif%3F__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION%3D1226558938179&f=1&nofb=1)
so factor another costly aspect into the recycle process.

Not really, it was said it can't be. I proved it can. Might not be happening now, but soon. And no they don't just take it apart. They apparently grind it up and extract the minerals. I read it on a different site but just re-read it. Still applies.
Li-Cycle recovers at least 95% of all materials found in lithium-ion batteries. The company processes all types of lithium-ion batteries regardless of their previous use, chemistry, or state of charge.

Like I said the company is talking out of their arse. Show me how they achieve a recycle rate of 95% of the pack. Some packs are completely potted in epoxy. There's also the plastic casing. After you throw the whole pack into the grinder how do you separate the materials? I can tell you how. They burn it. That process uses energy and releases a lot of toxic emissions.
So stop parroting what the company claims they may do.

Most of the ways of producing energy harm the environment in one way or another. Some in production, some in disposal, some both.
I haven't seen tree huggers against tidal/wave electricity but some do protest hydro-electric dams due to certain problems they make.
I would certainly argue that green technologies aren't nearly that green at all but I wouldn't go so far as to say they are worse than gasoline vehicles. More like they are bad but in a different way.
I would point out that there is a lot of progress potential for electric vehicles though so crapping on them is a bit premature. As the technologies improve there is a lot of room for the "green technologies" to become much more green. Seems like there isn't a lot of room to improve gas engines. So I support pursuing green energy alternatives because even though they aren't where they need to be, we can't get there by only sticking to traditional energy sources.
-
I have solar hot water.
Solar hot water uses a power outlet (fossil fuel generated energy) to drive a water pump that pushes the tank's water through the solar collectors. The water is heated and circulated back to the tank.
There's no energy conversion being performed, so it doesn't qualify as PV. It transfers heat from the Sun to the water.
Some systems have a PV style function that runs a heat coil in the tank to warm the water. When electricity is applied at night or when cloudy, a different 240V circuit activates and heats another coil.
Kind of depends on which water heater you have. Most use the circulator pump, like a radiator system in buildings but in reverse.

I support advancement into green tech, but i do not support cutting off oil until it is a viable substitute. This is what the left and people like them want.
Reduce oil things and force green tech that isnt as green as they think it is. Even got people who say "im ok with paying more at the pump" and not realize that cost will trickle down more than they realize.

So you value your pocketbook more than the environment?
Not everyone has the funds to afford green renewable products like you.
Oh, wait .....
If you watch the PragerU video I posted, you;'ll learn that without taxpayer subsidies, the green energy sector would cease to exist. Nobody wanted a Prius at $40K, but tax subsidies made them affordable. So, people who didn't buy a Prius paid so the ones who did buy could afford them.
Is that really the model we want for innovation? Government deciding who to support and which businesses to leave to live or die on their own?
If we let private business and innovators do what they have always done, the best products will eventually make it to market. Tipping the scale in favor of their less-viable competitors only hurts the green effort.

Generally speaking incentives also slow development as there is no need to create a low cost self sustaining green tech product when it is being artificially subsidized by the government. We will still get there eventually. But generally it will take longer the more government interferes in the natural development process of products. The model we currently have for offering incentives is not sustainable.

That's the operational and R&D side of the equation.
On the financial side, when the gov't decides to prop up a company or sector, guess where the investors move their capital? That's the capital that was meant to support the real innovators and companies with visionaries who can solve the problems. Instead, the companies that are "political favorites" get the tax subsidies AND the investment capital.
Just another way in which, as you said, government interference in the market slows natural development.

Follow the experts.
Take the experts' advice.
Experts should be revered and their opinions made into policy.
Or, is that only when Trump's in charge?

This sums it up, but I would say with exception of Tesla. Elon made owning an electric car cool and badass. $90,000+ for the good ones.

Generally speaking incentives also slow development as there is no need to create a low cost self sustaining green tech product when it is being artificially subsidized by the government. We will still get there eventually. But generally it will take longer the more government interferes in the natural development process of products. The model we currently have for offering incentives is not sustainable.
Don't have much funds but I will still sacrifice what I can for the future. If that means I have to drive less or walk more or consume less, so be it.
So you fully support cancelling all oil subsides? We spend many billions on them. Should let them all live and die on their own.
-

That's an exception in that it thrived in spite of other car makers getting the electric car subsidies. Had the owner not been as rich, the company would have folded before the first car sold.
Musk made the car the rest of us should be wanting. If he'd had gov't backing and subsidies, maybe we could all be driving Teslas now. Instead of $90k, maybe they would have been the price range of a big SUV -- the very vehicle you'd want off the road to "save the planet".

Oil subsidies exist for a reason. We have a military and many gov't agencies that can't function if they can't buy/afford gas and oil. Those subsidies were meant to keep the industry stable so our vital transportation and defense capabilities aren't threatened by foreign oil producers.
This is a major reason why energy independence was such a key accomplish for Trump. Too bad Biden is signing XOs to destroy that.

And that doesn't apply to green tech?
Green energy is also energy independent.
I say good, sight more XO's and convert all federal vehicles including postal to electric. More efficient military vehicles too. Revamp everything. Then we won't need oil so bad.

How many green tanks and aircraft have you seen?

Greta's vision. . .
Easy for the young and those naive to the reality of the world to throw stuff out there and expect others to make it happen. I've been involved in the "making it happen" for many years, so call me jaded, but it's ::)
-

That's why I said more fuel efficient military not electric. I realize we are not there yet. But any more "mpg" will only benefit the military.
Green tech is alternative energy used or gathered rather than fossil fuels.

please back up that statement
for example, how is solar energy "energy independent", when rare earth metals need to be mined and transported to make the batteries and panels and boards/modules, which then need to be transported and installed
-
So you value your pocketbook more than the environment?
please show me where he said that

Even got people who say "im ok with paying more at the pump" and not realize that cost will trickle down more than they realize.

Todd Herman made a good point today. Why isn't the rest of the world giving up fossil fuels? Only the US, not China, not Europe, no where else? Why is that?

Green tech is alternative energy used or gathered rather than fossil fuels.
The US has lowered carbon and other polluting emissions from fossil fuels by 70% since 1977. Not through "green tech", but through conversion to natural gas (fossil fuel) from oil fire plants, catalytic converters, cleaner burning coal plants, vehicle emission standards, etc.
You need to understand where we've been and where we are before lecturing on where we should be going and how to get there.
You're clueless.

Why doesn't Greta visit any of the top polluters in the world? Well she is a child, so I do not really fault her of not knowing better. I blame her parents and those using her to push their BS agenda and not visiting said polluters.

If scales with earnings obviously of you earn more for can pay more. Standard is also personal how much you want to sacrifice.

What the fuck does that first sentence fragment/phrase mean?

I THINK what you half-way tried to say is:
"From each according to his ability,
to each according to his needs."
Karl Marx taught you well, Comrade!

Yeah my English wasn't that great in that reply. Then again if you read a bit longer you would find your answer in the following sentence....
YOU decide. How much you are willing to sacrifice for the future of earth and the environment for your current/future offspring.

Please explain how I get to decide when the money is being stolen from me without my consent via gas taxes, income taxes, capital gains taxes, etc.
BTW, your accusatory appeal to my emotions is duly noted. Try using facts. What will my stolen money that goes to green BS subsidies, Paris Accord Socialism, and so on accomplish?

I have been saying for a long time that reading comprehension and intelligence are not his/her strong suit. The scale mentality is also the very far left mentality. It’s not equal treatment, it’s “fair” treatment. Which we all know is unfair.
If he/she answers you with a clear and well thought out answer you damn well know it was not a smoke break post. But rather a doo doo post.

If you think like that all taxes are money stolen. I never said we should raise those other types of taxes you mentioned. I specifically said remove oil subsidies and raise gas tax. You can choose not to drive. You driving and paying more is a choice you decide.
Not emotional you can make choices on logic. Climate change isn't some left only issue. We have evidence and fact that the world is warming and the climate is changing. All those programs serve to try and stop that.

And YOU don't need multiple firearms, ammo, or any other hobby, yet we know you do. That's money you could be spending on implementing more green tech in your life instead of crying how it's too expensive for you -- but forced gas taxes are fine. Hypocrite!
No, I can't just choose to drive or not and not pay gas taxes. Naive? Ignorant?. Transportation costs money no matter if I take an Uber, The Taxi, The Bus, The Rail (not an option where I live), etc. Paying for a ticket, pass or fare, you're paying the SAME GAS TAXES through a middle man.
We have evidence the Earth warmed before humans stood upright, too. Were the dinosaurs driving SUVs and flying jets?
To "try and stop that" is not a plan. You can throw yourself in front of a speeding bus to try and stop it. How effective do you think that'll be?
Al Gore admitted that the Paris Accord, if it did EVERYTHING they want to accomplish, would have NO EFFECT on the actual problem.
All that money taken out of the economy and people's hands would be spent in other countries. All it does is "send a very powerful message." That's the point. Read it!
Former Vice President Al Gore acknowledged Sunday that even if all the
nations in the Paris accord reach their emissions targets, climate change
would still be a problem.
“That is correct," Gore told host Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."
"However, it sends a very powerful signal to business and industry, and
civil society and countries around the world," Gore said.
No accountability, no science -- just virtue signaling and raping the people of valuable resources.

What's frustrating is we provided all these facts more than once to him in several other threads, and he STILL keeps posting the same unsupported nonsense.

Yeah, that was a pretty ignorant statement (again) from someone who obviously does not have a whole lot of life experience. I would guess 25%-40% of the population that have jobs, have to drive to work in order to earn a living. I know I did. That number is probably higher because I did not include people who have kids and jobs at the same time. Anyone who has kids and a job almost has to drive to work. And I would guess that is pretty much a super majority. But I digress. Also, I didn’t include people who are taking care of elderly parents/invalid/disabled who don’t have access to the transit system or who cannot access the transit system. I know there is a tremendous amount of people like that since there is a whole transportation industry that revolves around and specializes in them. I also lived in SoCal where people had to drive over 50 miles one way to work (I was one of them) and I knew a few that drove close to 200 miles to work every day. This was due to either their office not being close to a transit corridor or the fact that the transit system was constantly overloaded and there were not enough trains and busses to provide access if they were within a transit corridor. They had no choice. They had to drive to work. These are not corner cases, either. This is the norm rather than the exception of life in some large cities and counties. If the low life experience poster had lived and experienced numerous places in his life as I and others here have the poster would realize how stupid a statement he/she made. Living in the bubble called Honolulu does not give one the experience necessary to make informed and thoughtful statements about this subject. So he/she makes only ignorant statements like they did. It must be nice to be able to make that choice to drive to work or not if they want. The problem is most people’s circumstances are not the same and require a vehicle in order to make a living. To think most people’s circumstances can be solved/changed with a one size fits only a few solution is not common sense.

Maybe I should add in that he stated that he is saving for house. A house adds to the carbon footprint of the earth. He will be making his personal carbon footprint much bigger than it already is if he decides to buy a house. I guess he doesn’t care about that because going green is for thee not for me. Damn hypocrite is all he is.

Don't leave out the fact that life is not limited to going to work or school and home again. Shopping, hauling to the greens recycling center or dump (for home owners), traveling to appointments (dental, healthcare, firearm permit/registration :geekdanc:, DMV for licenses and vehicle registrations and bus passes), plus needing to haul large or many bags of stuff, etc. These are things you can't rely on public or commercial transportation to fit your schedule or permit you to easily take a bunch of stuff with you.
p.s. Taking a gun on The Bus to go practice, or to transfer or register, is forbidden. I'm sure the rail will be the same, even though the choo-choo doesn't go that far.

Just remember he/she does everything “within reason”. So it is reasonable in their mind to pollute the air/earth with their car in order to go shooting since they cannot take public transportation. Then they will leave toxic substances in the earth (Lead) at the range and pollute it more than it already is because they do everything “within reason”. Especially when they could have stayed home and saved the earth from the dreaded “Climate change”. But I guess polluting the air and earth in order to have some fun is reasonable, right?
-
95% of my driving is necessary and either driving to and from work or getting food and supplies. Covid really helped me in that regard this year. Cut down going to the range so that saves car usage and other environmental impacts. Don't go out for other random reasons. GF lives close to home so not a detour to pick her up to go back to my place. I try and do my part. I am not saying everyone has to majorly change their lives, but every bit helps. If the taxes on gas gets raised it will make people think more before they drive and burn fuel. If not, I am ok with everyone suffering for the sake of the environment. No matter what you all say, its not logical to think that burning gas in any way or form is beneficial to the environment. So less usage is always better.
The post covid world looks very hopeful. More people working from home so less commute. Biden for all his faults looks great for the environment. If we can get a new infrastructure bill to replace current with green tech that would be wonderful. Cancel all oil subsidies. No new fracking. Start weaning ourselves from oil.
I take no offense to being called on the left for environmental issues. Not sure why you all think that's an insult. Its not about sides, its about policies. I am on the right on immigration. But thats a moot point. You all should try be a little less partisan.
The whole point is, everyone as their own values and limits. If you need to go enjoy your hobbies 24/7 365 then there isn't much you can do to help. Or you need to travel to work or survive. But if you can cut your usage 1 day a week that will help. Or walk a bit more, or buy electric. Every bit helps. It's what you feel is appropriate, I am just advocating that you think about it, and the future of your offspring.

No, you are advocating that everyone who uses gasoline pay more per gallon, taxing us to pay for "green tech" that we personally may not support government getting involved in with our finances.
You're advocating for Biden tossing workers off their jobs now, then making the unemployed find another job -- even if that means paying for school "somehow" while on unemployment. Many of those people are career employees and spent their adult years becoming professionals in their jobs. It's cruel for Biden to tell them "Learn to code."

That's life. Lots of my tax dollars goes to things I don't support like oil subsidies, welfare, religion etc. There is no perfect world. Technically you still have the option to not pay the tax, its not as bad as taking it out of income tax or something.
Partially correct, I am more towards freezing all new projects. Not as bad job loss and people will slowly be forced to find alternatives. Again you are incorrect. There are other options in their current field. They weren't all born and raised along the pipeline route...Theres still other oil jobs. And like I said before many other jobs are related. Like concreate work, metal work, etc that are not unique to "oil". Construction works don't all forever run out of jobs once they finish a building. They move on to another, in a different location. That is part of life.
I used work mostly with VMware but my company started to transition, so I transitioned to cloud. One day AI will probably replace my job and I will have to transition to another. Not sure what the future holds but all jobs will be replaced by robots eventually. Life changes.

No, that was not "life" under Trump. Trump created good paying jobs and lowered taxes.
It's life under stupid Democrats who put their social agenda ahead of the needs of the workers.
Moving from one IT specialty to another doesn't require starting from scratch like moving from working in the field on a pipeline to "learning to code does".
Are you really this obtuse?

What's your obsession with complete job changes that's not that practical. They will most likely go from working metal pipe to something similar.... there's PLENTY of construction jobs. Even more if Biden does green infrastructure rollout.
Also why are you not bitching about all the truck driver and ship jobs that will be lost when the pipeline is active....All those truck drivers forced to find other work, all those ship workers forced to work on land. The list can go on forever.
Also Trump didn't lower my taxes, nor did he have any effect on my job. Nothing wrong with social agenda. Some are good, like legalizing pot, the environment, freedom of ones body. Some are bad like gun control and immigration. Both sides have agenda you just don't like some but you cant just blame one side. Trumps agenda of pro life is a social agenda forced on others who don't agree but you had NO issues with that...hypocrite. All those abortion jobs lost...oh boo hoo. (joke)

It's what you feel is appropriate, I am just advocating that you think about it, and the future of your offspring.
lecturing is different from advocating...

And you know all this how? Your lifelong experience changing employers 5-6 times?
Trump's agenda on abortion changed no laws, and didn't cost me a single dollar.

Avoided all those poor truck drivers losing those jobs question cause you know you were wrong. But no, I know many people who changed jobs, my own family too. Much more different jobs than going from one construction job to another. Even you and many people here have had vastly different jobs throughout their lives...
There's many other agendas, that was one example. The whole point is both sides have agenda's, it not some unique democrat thing.

Imagine the cost of installing, maintaining, upgrading and repairing all those underwater/underground transmission lines and turbines. Can't just pull a truck up next to them. Have to have boats and people willing to work in those conditions.
Water + electric wind-driven generators and transmission lines?
What could possibly go wrong?

P.S. what else has Biden undone? That was a whirlwind 10 days.
45 executive orders in his first 2 weeks in office.
49 total as of yesterday, Feb 4th.
Seems like Biden's #1 criteria for his orders is, "If Trump created an order, I need to rescind it."
Here's the list, from the very fake news network, CNN.

I tried to find something about it. I couldn’t find anything. This is a complete and total shame depending on the extent of the funding cuts. Developing space technology is imperative to our country’s security. If we fall behind we may never be able to catch up. We will be in serious trouble if we are not already there.

Trump’s desire to invest in space technology and create the Space Force is keeping us ahead of the Chinese in this important technology space. We are already way behind the Russians in hypersonic technology. We lost the edge here during Obama’s watch (Thanks Obama :wtf:). We have no known defense against hypersonic offensive weapons. Only deterrent we would have is if we had them as well. We have no known hypersonic offensive weapons. So there is currently no deterrent.
Biden’s decision to give up space to the Chinese is worrisome. America Last....
-
Let's not forget the relentless mockery by the MSM about Trump's idea to expand into space. Well, relentless mockery of anything Trump did to make America First. Now we are giving into our competitors because of internal conflicts. The average American voter can't read beyond the headlines.

Biden's Minister of Propaganda, Jen Psaki, used the name "Space Force" in a smirking, demeaning way when answering WH press questions. It was so demeaning, the WH had to come back and apologize.
The White House on Wednesday offered “full support” for Space Force, a day after
the president's chief spokesperson provoked a backlash with seemingly dismissive
comments about the Trump-era addition to the U.S. military.
“They absolutely have the full support of the Biden administration," White House press
secretary Jen Psaki said at a briefing when asked if President Joe Biden backed the
newest branch of the military branch or whether he would take steps to try to eliminate
or diminish it.
“We are not revisiting the decision to establish the Space Force,” she said.
Psaki noted that Congress would have to initiate any dismantling of the force. She said
the Defense Department's desire to focus more attention and resources on the security
challenges in space has been of bipartisan concern for some time.
https://news.yahoo.com/white-house-offers-full-support-205112114.html
My experience is this is exactly how the WH talks about Space Force behind closed doors. She made those condescending comments out of honesty, and they now have to do damage control.
We know if Trump did it, they hate it. They're lying when they say otherwise.

That makes total sense, if the country you speak of is your country and not ruled by some other domestic interests. With the overt end, to the electoral process, putting the nail in the coffin to what was the American Republic, I would be weary to know what advancements of military technology is being developed. :-\
Outside of the Congressional-Military-Industrial Complex, per President Eisenhower, is it a safe assumption to presume any tactical advantages, from space technology, will be solely used against the US empire's geopolitical enemies, Russia, China, etc.? ???
Or will some of those applications be used against American patriots, 2nd Amendment advocates, etc., especially now as the power okole just unofficially decreed or in the process of officially decreeing Trump/MAGA supporters, as insurgents and/or domestic terrorists? :shake:

I do love your you way of looking at things. It makes me think of why you feel the way you do. I see your point of view and I think I understand why you feel that way. Even though I don’t completely agree with you, I do agree with some of what you are saying here. I don’t think we are as quite far gone as you describe but I won’t disagree that we are on our way there. That is why I said what I did as you said, I still think we are a republic but I think we are on the precipice of losing it completely. I am afraid the military is going to have to get involved in the next major election. And if it has to take over the country at that point I know we are lost as a republic. But I assume you will argue that if we get to the point of military involvement we are already gone.
I may be old and old fashioned but I still believe in our republic. And I hope you are wrong about our republic, but I won’t argue with you. How I see it is if we still have a republic then those types of weapons will not be used against American citizens. But if they are and the perps are not punished for their crimes then I will agree with you, we are no longer a republic. We are already seeing this with the spying on the Trump campaign. The perps are getting off Scott free.

The current purge ordered to find "extremists" seems to be a furthering of the purges Øbowel did to the officer ranks.
Getting rid of "extremists" that might not be reliable if it comes to killing citizens would make sense if the way was being prepped for just that.
-

So, by the administration's definition, anyone who doesn't think the existing government is working in the interests of the nation's people is an "extremist", synonymous with traitor, insurrectionist and white supremacist.
Can't we also apply that definition to Socialists or anyone else who thinks the current government isn't doing what that individual thinks it should be?
When you start a witch hunt, you first need to make sure the definition of "witch" can't also be applied to YOU!! :shake:
Additionally, the military has been forced to take lots of people that would, in times of conflict, create potential problems: Gays, Lesbians, transgenders, Muslims, etc. Now we need to weed out anyone who doesn't like the current administration because they MIGHT become violent (without any evidence)?
We had a Muslim shoot up an Army compound, yet there was never a call for Muslim bans in the military. Why are they now calling for a ban on this new group who, to my knowledge, hasn't negatively affected the military in any way, shape or form?
Just more fear mongering to divide the nation and paint their political opponents as violent.
If you ever shared a meme with Pepe the Frog, get ready to receive your separation papers -- possibly with an "Other than Honorable" discharge.

Why do you think we are now deploying low yield Nukes?
As has everyone else already done.
I think the original intent of nukes was strategic in that scaring countries with the
destruction of the large cities was the concept in a war sceneario.
Today the switch to tactical uses of Nukes is the game plan.
Why destroy a large American city? The cities are doing a good enough job of destroying America,
lets concentrate on destroying the military targets and we can attend to the self dis-armed cities later.
For now this is a uniquely American trait, you can obliterate Washing D.C.and there will still be an America.
I don't believe the same could be said for a Russia without a Moscow,
a China without Beijing, a NORK without Pyongyang, or an Iran without Tehran.
There is also this thing call the inverse square law. which to simplify
is that a lot of smaller bombs dispersed in an area will cause more
destruction than one big one, in that same area.
There will be use of Nukes in a future conflict, count on it.
Although personally I believe it will be a Moslem that starts it.
China is a close #2.

As with most of the senior members of this forum, you are a patriot of the American Republic and I understand and support your belief that the Republic still exists and that things can change through the system. Ironically similar to the situation facing Hawaiian patriots, the American Republic still legally exists, but its government was overthrown, by the power okole. The only difference in our views is that Hawaiian patriots know the system will not right the wrongs that were committed in 1893 and later in 1898, as you contend the current system can potentially right the wrongs that happened in 2020.
What can and must be done is an individual's choice, but learn a lesson to what happened to Hawaiians. Before 1898, Hawaiians actually believed the US would restore our nation, but to our detriment, the US imperialists, at that time, ensured that would not happen and we have been suffering because of that false belief, for more than 100 years. The once great American Republic has been totally taken over by the power okole and it is the US empire now, as of 2021.
Anti-terrorist facial recognition technology is already being used to persecute those, who participated, on the events, of January 6th, and the so-called peoples' courts are moving fast to throw those patriots in American gulags, as an object lesson, for any other patriot, who dares challenge the once federal, but now imperial government.
Maybe I am wrong and only time will tell. However, time is a luxury American patriots do not have in abundance.

Excellent point that is not being openly disseminated, as it should.
The power okole is comprised of the ultrawealthy 1% (e.g., the banking cartels, Wall Street, the corporatocracy, largest landholders, etc.) and they are the oligarchs that collectively rule the US empire through their political and NGO proxies. Due to the rise of Trump, however, they were finally forced to come out, of the shadows, and play a more visible role to maintain their power.
Their only mission now is to eradicate the last generation of old-school American patriots that are Constitutionally loyal to the Old Republic either directly by finding excuses to imprison them or indirectly starting a hot-war with Russia and/or China and let them die, as casualties that way.
