Was hoping it wouldn’t be $1500 since the deer there are dying off.

Bellows pig hunting has been discontinued
Well that sucks. Is hunting anywhere without dogs even worth it?

Legal and Activism / New to Hawaii, question about registration
« on: June 18, 2018, 03:56:53 PM »
Moving to Oahu in 3 weeks. Found the document I must fill out and turn in within 5 days of arrival. Couple questions?

-do I have to show proof of my arrival date on island? If so, what? Or no they don't care.

-mental health waiver.... what exactly am I authorizing them to do when I fill that Document out and turn it in?

-Planned on showing up with my bolt gun, lever gun and a pistol all unloaded, chamber flagged no AMMO present, inside a pelican case locked. From what I read I am good yeah? Show up with said documents, my 42$ and plan on sitting there all day

The idea of civies running around his base with legal weapons didnt jive well. Couple that with "active shooters" scenarios and he didnt want to accept the risk....what ever that may be...of course this is what I heard.
That's too bad, I'm sure new guy shows up in 2 years maybe it will change? I hope it does, I'm set to live less than 2 miles from that range on base. I will have to join the Puuloa club and shoot my .223. I'll probably sell the 6.5's no use bringing em I guess. Is Puuloa only matches or do they do any open days come and practice? I've never shot any of the type matches offered there

The only places I know that allow shooting past 100yd are

1) Puuloa Range,  you gotta join the club and volunteer because most of the range time is structured like competition.  You pair up and score for your partner and then swap.  I am not a member so I am telling you what I have heard.  Pretty regular schedule once a month.  http://www.puuloa.com/

*The only public range is Kokohead Shooting Complex but it has been limited to 100 yd for several years now after complaints by "anti-freedom" types  ::).  [url=http://khsc.info/]http://khsc.info/

I could not find any info regarding caliber restrictions for the Puuloa club shoots, is there any?

WHATTTTT.... I'll be on KBAY, no funny stuff like .223/.308 (mil calibers only) I can shoot a 6.5 there? Can I PM you for more specifics

Thank you all so much!

I should of stated I'll be on Oahu, over on Kaneohe bay.

No scary weapons are coming with me just 2 bolt action built off a bighorn arms action, a Winchester 1894 30-30 manufactured in 1916 and a SW M&p shield 9mm that is a California compliant model.

Powders I'll be looking for are RL26, H1000, varget. Hopefully a steady supply of one of them. I'm sure 6.5 PRC factory ammo hasn't hit the shelves there yet maybe?

Hello all, a few questions. I will be moving to island in July

-I am curios to where I can shoot at distance past 100 yards for certain, a dream would be out to 1000 but I doubt there is anywhere on island to accommodate that.

-reloading components (powders, primers etc.) are they hard to come by? I will be reloading 30-30, .223, 6.5 PRC and 6.5 CM.
Local shops carry supply of 30-30 and higher end .223 ammo such as prime and hornady etc. in 77grainish range? I'm sure 6.5cm flies off the shelf

-The 6.5 PRC is half half way built but if there are no ranges to shoot at due to distance limitations or rules about type of cartridges allowed then I suppose I will cancel that build and dream for another day.
