I had no malfunctions with over 1400rds thru my p365.  I converted it to a 365X and have much better recoil control with the larger grip module (i.e. faster follow-up sight picture and subsequent shots).  Printing is not too much of an issue as its very slim.

I thought they manufacturer addressed the striker drag issue on earlier models.  I never noticed any striker drag on inspecting fired casings.

Preparedness and Survival / Re: Lahaina Fire Lessons Learned
« on: August 10, 2023, 01:55:12 PM »
This is a pickle. Do I keep docs like passports, social cards, birth certs, etc...in my BOB?  Cause in the event someone breaks into my home, it's easier for them to steal said docs.  Compared to leaving it in the gun safe.  And the home is more likely to get broken into than a fire happening.

Or another option is keep it all together and grab on the way out. But this is 1 more thing to get together when leaving in a hurry. Cat, wife, kid, 1 gun, etc...

One possibility is to keep those docs in the gun safe bundled with your extra mags or in an ammo can which you will grab along with your 1 gun from the safe prior to leaving.  I keep em separate in a small fire rated safe and if I forget it on the way out, just hope it still there after the fire is out.

For the OP, have you looked into HAM radios?
I've always browsed and perused about one day having one and getting certified. But after seeing a real breakdown of comms so close to home and how fast the infrastructure broke down in Lahaina, makes me want to discuss with our other family homes to get a basic communication plan in place.

Preparedness and Survival / Lahaina Fire Lessons Learned
« on: August 10, 2023, 08:36:28 AM »
Open discussion to share ideas on how individuals and/or families can be better prepared for the scenario that unfolded in Lahaina this week.

Many of us in Hawaii prepare for natural disasters to some degree, and it seemed that many were un-prepared for a fast-moving wildfire. Typical preparedness seems to be for short term power outages and other hurricane associated events.

Aside from politics and how our leadership may have handled or not handled things satisfactorily, anyone care to float around ideas or concepts to incorporate or add to family emergency action plan(s) or preparedness?

Some takeaways I have so far, I would like to invest in longer range comms, I currently have two-way walkie's good to about 1/2 mile (non-line of sight) in my neighborhood and nearest family home is 1 mile.   My current emergency plan has more emphasis on sheltering in place and not really "bugging-out" long term.

General Discussion / Re: How's the line at HPD?
« on: July 21, 2023, 11:41:09 AM »
Was like that on this past Wednesday too. I went at 12:30, line was to the door, but an officer came out from the records side and asked if anyone was there to pick up permits and a free of us were serviced that way.  I was out in 30 minutes.

Ive used Brownells and Midway with no issues for magazines.

Sorry to revive an old thread. I was looking at the PSA AR 9mm colt style lowers. I’m guessing those 10+ mags will be allowed in Hawaii as they are for ARs and not pistols.

Although the magazines you mentioned are allowed in Hawaii, PSA will not ship any magazines with capacity over 10 to Hawaii.

General Discussion / Re: CCW with a pistol that I changed calibers
« on: January 05, 2023, 12:55:46 PM »
My recent phone conversation with HPD Firearms division may help answer your question:  I purchased and registered a P365 SAS and have changed the slide to one which is marked  P365X (caliber & barrel length remained the same).  I asked the person on the phone if I needed to update my registration because it appears the submodel of my p365 has changed from SAS to X.  They initially replied that I would only need to update the registration if the caliber has changed.  I then said my concern is that the instructor for the Hawaii CCW course I am attending is asking for the firearm info and my registration says P365SAS and my slide says P365X.  HPD's reply was that if it's for CCW, I would need to bring it in for inspection and update the registration, so it matches what is submitted for my CCW License.

I will suggest to them that the model is only "P365" and with Sig Sauers inherent interchangeability between sub models i.e. SAS, X, XL, that the sub model is not relevant on the registration form because the same serialized and registered fire control unit may be used in any P365 sub model.

I would consider getting a Gen 5 G19 and a G44.

General Discussion / Re: Currently researching for a new Range Toy

I can share what I like about each having experience with both sig (p365) and Glock (45).  The field strip can be more humbug with the sig as theres a few more things going on at once compared to the glock, disassembling the trigger group (glock) or fire control group (sig) is where I prefer the Glock due to simplicity getting a deep clean.

The advantage of being modular definitely goes to the sig because of the serialized part being the fire control group (trigger assembly) and not the grip module (frame).  For example, one could buy a standard p365 and later on if a larger XL sized pistol is desired, you can then purchase additional XL size grip module (frame), slide, barrel, recoil spring, and magazine adapter plates and have essentially a micro-compact 365 AND the larger XL size or combine both to get a p365X. I'm not 100% certain but with Glocks I believe you would have to buy both a G43, G48, and G43X to have the same effect.

There might be even more modular options within the p320 size vs the p365 size fire control group as well so you could change your pistol size based on your needs at the time i.e. full-size, mid-size, compact all amongst the p320 size fire control group.

Reliability wise I believe they are both very reliable.  I have not had any issues yet with only basic maintenance and cleaning after every session. round count each is 1800 G45 and 1200 p365 fired any ammo put thru it federal, pmc bronze, remington umc, fiocchi, blazer, speer lawman, speer gold dot, & some handloads.

For sights, you can always change those to suit your needs/liking.

I see more Glock parts than sig parts on the LGS shelves in regard to small replacement parts.

Glock magazines are much cheaper than sig magazines.  OEM Glock mags can be had for $25-30ish, Pmags for Glock  $10-12,  and the sig magazines are $40-50 each.

Personally I am staying way from the P320s for now because of the issues I've heard/read about Un-commanded/unintentional discharges and sig blames some internal failure whether it be a weakened spring or something else.

If you have funding for a Sig P226, that is definitely a nice tool to fulfill a full-size metal frame pistol, I've seen going around $1500-$1700.

Thanks for the replies.  We didn’t get any heat for having kids in a wagon type stroller.

General Discussion / Re: Gun shipments via UPS

I had a package which was supposed to contain two BCG’s arrive cut open and empty.  I had to contact palmetto and they started the ups damage claim and said I have to just sit tight till the ups investigation is complete (15days) and then they can refund or re-ship the order.

General Discussion / UPS
« on: July 05, 2022, 03:17:34 PM »
Heads up for anyone expecting packages via UPS.  My package from PSA was left in my driveway, empty and a clean large cut in the back of the package (yellow bubble letter size envelope).  I flagged the driver down and asked if it had “fell out” in his truck, and he looked around the back and said no and asked for the empty package. He scanned it , said the seller will contact me and drove away.

I called UPS and spoke to a local office, they said the package was marked was delivery declined by myself.

What worries me is that it looks like someone in the delivery chain stole the items and still delivered the empty package.

Thanks for the heads up, just from there and I can confirm the .223/5.56 is available for walk in purchases.  Had quite a variety.  I’m not sure about other calibers  for walk in sales.

What you think? A good example of incipient  case head separation?

I’m not chancing it, just wanted to share one to be tossed out.

Head stamp = WIN USA 5.56mm
unknown year, once fired.
