dat-a boy Jon!  O0

4 every1 else who wonder how 2 get started in competitive shooting, start here.  Sure, no steel, no shoot 'em up, youtube worthy style of shooting BUT this is NRA/CMP high power rifle & pistol one-handed discipline is what separates YOU from THEM, is what transforms a "weekend target pling-ers" into controlled, precise, dead-accurate trigger puller who can provide effective fires on target…AT WILL.  :worship:

It really doesn't get any easier, Uncle Sam provides the venue, classes, hardware, gear & ammo…or maybe you gotta get permission from whoever wears the pants in your house

I promise you, this will change the way you envision another weekend outing @ your neighborhood gun range.

go check out this match back in Feb'14:

General Discussion / Re: 24 Aug 2014 Puuloa Rifle Shoot Pics
« on: August 26, 2014, 08:36:35 PM »
Also do not call marine corps range control about the range schedule, puuloa club events, or individuals wanting to shoot there.  Contact the Puuloa Club at www.puuloa.com or puuloaclub@gmail.com instead.  Marines don't like it when shooters call their office.

awww c'mon, we're (range staff) not that bad :-) but good point.  Puuloa Club schedule changes at times so its best those interested contact the club for the most current info.

More importantly, i suggest you folks who either never shot at puuloa or shot but stopped coming because firing lines not covered or there was bit of manual labor involved setting up and breaking down range, think about your 2nd amendments rights that are ever so getting infringed upon, take advantage of these opportunities to shoot back to 600yard line.  Small price to pay for experience of life time!

keep in mind just because you are not a member of club does not exclude you from part taking in the festivities.  just shoot them a email saying you are interested, they will do the rest to get you on federal compound to shoot.  ASK, YOU SHALL RECEIVE

*Must be at least 14yo to participate.

Competition / Re: 2013 National Pistol Matches
« on: June 21, 2014, 07:51:00 AM »

I realize my question was apparently not specific enough.

If I go to commercial row and purchase a gun from any of the vendors, I.e. RRA, Les Baer, Kimber, etc., can I just give them the money and get the gun and take it back with me in my luggage, or will I need to purchase it there and then have it shipped to an FFL. Anyone with experience purchasing a firearm at the National Matches, please provide some guidance. I've already used Google and haven't been productive.

Some residents (like OH) can buy & take @ point of sales (stomp…stomp)... All else need to buy on site and have it shipped to FFL.  Talk to your Team Civilian Coach, he has FFL or Mr G.  If for what ever reason you are able to transport it back with you, ensure its abides by TSA/specific airline regulations i.e. no more than 5 wpns in one hard pelican style case with dual rinky-dink TSA approved locks.  Also since your team is traveling on official government orders, have a copy of it inside the case-it WILL lighten the burden on TSA agent poking at your hardware.  Oh, make sure you DECLARE it at checkin.  Better yet call the TSA in advance to let them know you are traveling with government firearms/ammo, it might expedite your checkin process.

I'm in the same boat.  I just found out about EIC and Distinguished, but there's no way in hell I can take two weeks away from the boat.  Is that how all EIC competitions are for military; with the two week school requirement?

Absolutely not. Pistol EIC match consist of firing 30 rounds and usually take less than hour to conduct per relay. An EIC rifle match is much longer since its fired from 200, 300 and 600 yards and will take between 3-5 hours to conduct with multiple pit changes .

PACDIV is a USMC specific shooting event geared toward Marines stationed aboard Hawaii. Participation by other branches, LE and civilian sector is encouraged, but not a show stopper. Without having to type up a novel, below is what is presented in two-week shooting match culminating with 2-day EIC match (shoot EIC course of fire twice):

-2 days of classroom instructions in basic and advance marksmanship shooting technique presented by member of Marine Corps Shooting Team based out of Quantico, VA
-4 days of live fire practice
-2 days of individual match (EIC match; 1 per day)
-1 day of "TEAM match" (4 shooters from same unit firing EIC course once over, for combined score)

Total of 9 days executed in two weeks. AD service members MUST attend entire 2-week training package. *Civilians are encouraged to attend entire training package; HOWEVER, we realize this is unrealistic SO at bare min, they must attend classroom instruction days followed by both days of EIC match.

fun filled weekend of slinging lead! Great shooters, great venue makes for one heck of a practice session. Pu'uloa R/P Club and PRTF Staff make for one SOLID team, hopefully all who attended enjoyed it and learned something. Please spread load your knowledge in marksmanship, resources and common bond that solidifies all great organizations…promotion of 2nd Amendment rights through firearms awareness training and safe weapons handling. Looking forward to seeing some of you 7-8 Dec's EIC matches!

^ i ask a guy that works there about clinics and he doesn't know for sure but they may have one this Saturday or Sunday. the catch is, its by invitation only i.e. gotta know someone that works there or do what i did last time is go by there and introduced myself to the guy that runs the place. I know the Puuloa Club shoots this weekend so might be a good time to go check them out. i'm sure they wont mine some spectators plus you'll get to see what all the hype is about.

good luck

Is there a Schedule for these weekend shooting clinics?

Puuloa Rifle Club fires here every month (used to fire Pistol to but i don't think they've shot pistol in awhile for some reason) If your interested in firing the rifle from 200-600 yards than i would look up their website and inquire about joining or firing as a guest. not sure if you HAVE to join their club to fire on the days club...i do know that if your a Marine, they will provide match gun and ammo to participate. you will need to coordinate this with Marines working there.

The Marines that work there sometimes host Saturday rec-fire from 08-1200. they had one last week, AD service members and special guests. They invited civilians that lived next to the ranges which is pretty intuitive idea, since they work and live in the same area. To say the least,  it was great experience! they brought out M16, M4 rifle, 9mm pistols and match .22 and .45 1911 pistols. we all signed a form preventing any one from suing the military if we got hurt. We started at the 7 yard line familiarization phase with all weapons than we all participated in combat style (diluted version for safety) shooting with our choice of wpn which was quite exciting. it was organized and ran very well and it was much better than the usual firing, repairing target than just firing again all from the same distance. They also gave a clinic  after rec fire pertaining to "bullseye" type of shooting which is one handed from 50 and 25 yardline. it was very humbling to shoot a weapon one handed and do so from that far away!

I think next rec fire is scheduled for 23 Mar, once its concrete i'll let you know.

Below are some pics from last session:
