Dallas TX no guns sign have the force of law.  You'll get arrested if you go into a store with a no guns sign.

Depends on what you mean my "no gun sign". In TX if a business does not want to allow concealed/open carriers they must display Texas Statue 30.06 (no pun intended) for conceal carry, and/or 30.07 for open carry in a conspicuous manner with minimum 1 1/2" tall lettering. Normally they are printed on the doors of the business.

"“PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.06, PENAL
CODE (TRESPASS BY LICENSE
HOLDER WITH A CONCEALED
HANDGUN), A PERSON LICENSED
UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411,
GOVERNMENT CODE (HANDGUN LICENSING
LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH
A CONCEALED HANDGUN” "

"“PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.07, PENAL
CODE (TRESPASS BY LICENSE
HOLDER WITH AN OPENLY CARRIED
HANDGUN), A PERSON LICENSED
UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411,
GOVERNMENT CODE (HANDGUN LICENSING
LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH
A HANDGUN THAT IS CARRIED OPENLY”

The little gun-buster sticker(alone) on a door doesn't count.

Hunting / Re: Axis deer hunting
« on: July 13, 2018, 01:19:52 PM »
I too am extremely interested in Axis deer hunting, but purely from a harvesting standpoint. I'm not really interested in the trophy aspect. This is grocery shopping to me. I am working on getting legal to hunt in HI. Tentatively, I'm scheduled to do the Aug 17/18th class.

It appears Molokai may offer the most flexibility as far as Axis deer hunting:
https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/recreation/hunting/hunt-molokai/

**  Any deer encountered while hunting on a public hunting area on Molokai may be taken by the hunter regardless of number or sex of deer taken.

This would be my first Public Lands hunt in HI, so I don't know the terrain, or "spots" for deer on the respective zones as I'm relegated to Oahu. I'll probably be looking for a Public Lands guide to learn the land.

General Discussion / 2A Friendly Primary Care Physician
« on: July 10, 2018, 03:02:06 PM »
My primary care physician has decided to move back to Alaska and my long gun renewal is coming up. Would anyone have a recommendation of a physician that is 2A friendly?  I'm a HMSA/BCBS insurance carrier.

thanks in advance,

Legal and Activism / Target Shooting on Public/State Land Legalities
« on: February 22, 2017, 08:16:04 AM »
I recently moved back to the island from TX, and I've trying to find more information about the legalities of target shooting out on public/state land. This is no slight to Kokohead, or any other range. I've found some informative threads on this forum regarding shooting on private land, but nothing specific to public/hunting lands.  I've also been looking through Oahu's outdoor recreation site, but it's clearly focuses on hunting. Would anyone have some insight or a link to some aditional information?

I noticed that to, ha!

Texas is a very interesting place. There's a lot of similarites to HI regarding levels of state/peoples pride. Maybe it stems back to also once being autonomous? Who knows... Like HI, TX is a huge melting pot of cultures: Latin American, Germanic, Czech, Cajun/Creole,  Viet, Korean...which makes the food amazing. There's also a significant Polynesian presence. Euless, TX (suburb of Dallas/Ft.Worth) has a signficant enough Tongan and Samoan population that the high school football team does a haka before games. There was a lot to love, and a lot to hate. It's good to be back on this rock.

Howzit, 2aHI,

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to the 2aHI community. The family left Mililani shortly after my father decided to retire. We landed in Dallas, TX and I've lived there for the last decade. The opportunity in our careers were presented that would allow us to move back, and my bride and I jumped at the chance. You cannot help but be immersed into gun culture in Texas. All one has to do is drink the water and <poof!> your wallet is significantly lighter and you own a small (but nice) arsenal. Givin all the political circus activies in IL, CO, CT and CA, needless to say I was glad to find this forum with similarly enthusiastic individuals in HI.

I have a love for iconic/significant military firearms. In addition to smoking barrels I'm also love southern style BBQ and the slow-and-low smoking of meat (heh).

Being new to the forum, I didn't want to start posting questions into the wrong areas. I located the on-line maps from the State Land with marked areas for hunting. I had some questions regarding shooting (and the legalities there of) on public hunting lands. \Hunting? \Legal ?

thanks in advance,
