Once upon a time, there was such a thing as a home FFL.  That's more-or-less disappeared.  While people who had them were grandfathered, if you want to get a FFL today, you must have a storefront and keep hours.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

That's true.

A few years ago when I 1st started to get into guns I wanted to compare prices for FFL fees.

Well this is what I came upon,

one was working out of a self-storage bldg,

another was in a home in a sub division,

another was from a paint shop,

another I could not find, but it was a dead end street.

But what I did find was that, prices were really varied.

* I finally settled on one that charges me only 20.00, and it is not a gun shop.

** I know one that advertises 10.00, but I have yet to utilize that FFL dealer.
Don't need it at this place in time.
One day.

It has taught me to "shop around."

* Has a store front.
** Is a LGS

I don't really know about the keep hours, but commercial front yes.

ATF has no restrictions other than lock them up (from the what the ATF told me over the phone).  City and County may have some in the licensing branch, but they did say they have some guys who do internet sales.

I wonder if this was a kitchen table FFL.  Chased the women to the Phillipines even.

My friend had a 01 FFL

He had a store front in Kalihi.

He only sold 3 guns a year because it was his secondary business......ATF took his license away. Told him he had to sell at least 5 a month

From page 2 of the form:
Also from page 2:

You don't need business hours for the ATF.  I was very close to participating in setting up a FFL for procurement for government contracts since my friend and I both have good vet statutes.  We spoke with the ATF; there would be no hours, no real storefront that people could visit - ever (just a storage building in a commercial area). This was not a problem with them.
