I'm thinking what I'm going to do is epoxy the magazine catch in place and remove the magazine release button. Then I'll fill the magazine button hole with epoxy or something. I will also epoxy the magazine itself into the mag well. That's how I'm going to attach my mag into the lower.

I had a PM about other options to permanently attach the magazine. The reasons I decided to weld the magazine to the lower were (1) it was suggested in earlier threads more than a couple of times (2) I could   ;)   (3) I wanted no doubts, visually, that the magazine cannot be detached just in case ATF pays me a visit or the RSO taps me on the shoulder. It's very clear the magazine cannot detach and I do not have to demonstrate any mechanical devices that prevents the magazine from being detached. As for using epoxy on the magazine or mag release, I wonder what would happened if that failed while demonstrating to the ATF that the magazine cannot detach. It could happen.

Dog,
The ATF could care less. Its a State law and only HPD and the DA would be involved.
HPD may ask for assistance, but technically  by law they cannot be involved.

The two part epoxies that you can get now are extremely powerful and do a good job of bonding to nearly any material if the surface is clean.

But dogman the way that you attached it is in my opinion the best way. It looks incredible and I don't see that ever having problems coming off. If I had the tools/ability, id likely do it that well also.

I guess the guy at the registration window was joking around when he told me "those guys with the three initials on their shirts may come and see you"

Yeap, They called them on me before. Spent 2 hours  waiting for them to come.
Looked at my  firearm  ::) and said have a good day.
All this is because HPD guys at the window dont know the laws in which they are suppose to know. be it federal or state.

Still the ATF does not have jurisdiction in a state statue.

I should mention, that while I am experienced with specialty welding, there is still the possibility of distorting the lower and affecting it's function because of expansion and contraction relative to the heating and cooling of the metal. The material is also weakened around the welded area, although if I thought there was a chance of a dangerous failure, I wouldn't have done it. I did assemble the lower with a rifle upper and run about 40 rounds through it without a failure.

What if you just weld a piece to defeat the mag release?  Mag cannot be released, therefore not a detachable mag?

I came up with a way to do this. Very easy if you can TIG weld. Maybe Kanakamaoli23 will volunteer his lower when he gets it and I can post some pics.

Is the next one going to include the surefire 60/100 round mag option?

I'm seriously considering the X Products 50 round drum.

could you do this to something like that to a PAP m92 pv pistol and fix /weld a hi-cap drum in place and call it legal?

If I have a polymer lower would it be easy for me to just epoxy a pmag into it?

You'd need to ask yourself, can HPD use any type of manipulation to force it out?
If not ok , if maybe back to the drawing boards.

The only way it would come out is if you broke it. I think you'd be fine. We use two part epoxy to hold 1/2" all thread into concrete to hang 400 lbs meter boxes. I'm sure it could hold a magazine in place.

That's what I was thinking - is there an epoxy that you would recommend?
