Holy crap, this is a great idea. i had no idea this was possible as far as state law goes. are you thinking about getting one of those SB braces? it'll make it function like an SBR but legally still be a pistol.

It would be illegal to build it to function like an SBR, so don't do that. Build it for use as an arm brace and you're all good.

i was planning on getting the arm brace, but after putting a couple of hundred rounds through it, it's actually pretty comfortable with my cheek on the padded buffer tube.

could you do this to something like that to a PAP m92 pv pistol and fix /weld a hi-cap drum in place and call it legal?

Possibly, but I think that has to be done before it enters the state. Would you be able to easily load it?

dunno, the mag loads by opening the back of it. i would think it's doable while welded in place.

An FFL or SOT can import to hawaii , firearm remains in their possession and transfer the receiver separate. Then gives you the parts separately.

perfectly legal but Most FFL wont comply, if i had my FFL in hawaii id do it for residents here.

Some assault pistols are just  a tad over 50oz.. :geekdanc:

Possibly, but I think that has to be done before it enters the state.

Thus the dealer is perfectly legal to have in his inventory an assault pistol permanently.
Similar to post 86' machine gun for class 3 dealers.
The licensed dealer is not required to surrender the assault pistol, remove the pistol from State or deactivate it.
dealer is NOT restricted from selling the pistol as PARTS. an assault pistol receiver,  is not considered an assault pistol because it does not have all the features.

134-4(e)

After July 1, 1992, no person shall bring or cause to be brought into the State an assault pistol.  No assault pistol may be sold or transferred on or after July 1, 1992, to anyone within the State other than to a dealer licensed under section 134-32 or the chief of police of any county except that any person who obtains title by bequest or intestate succession to an assault pistol registered within the State shall, within ninety days, render the weapon permanently inoperable, sell or transfer the weapon to a licensed dealer or the chief of police of any county, or remove the weapon from the State. IMO other than the cool factor, and the caliber, this seems like a waste of time and money. You end up with a welded mag, very limited AR "kinda" pistol but not really. Maybe I'm old school but what makes someone want to do this, other than the fact that Hawaii won't let us have the real deal?

Yeah but you can't shoot 30 at the range and how long to reload? Same story with an AK...you can bring it but in reality you can't shoot 30. If legal I could have a SA pistol with high cap mags and shoot all day just dropping mags and inserting another and some of those hold a lot of ammo. Even without high cap mags I could do that, unlike this limited pistol.

Get a PS90. Same size, 50 round mag and no B.S.

It's really not difficult to load to all. I think an ar pistol is a good home defense weapon. You get all the hd benefits of 5.56 but in a much more compact package than an ar rifle. Being that we can't have sbr, this is a good alternative.

Also if you are viewing this as something you'd grab in a hd situation, I think 30 rounds is more than sufficient to get you where you want to be.

I'm just making an observation/comment that I don't see the practicality. I would never even consider this for home defense. Are you saying this would be your choice for a home defense weapon? Just trying to understand the logic here.
