HPD was called but showed up too late.

Well there's a real shocker! But hey, we know the HK Zippy's is safe. I guess it didn't occur to any of the range personnel to go out and grab these bozo's and hold them for HPD?

Or were they armed and dangerous desperado's?

Did anyone manage to get it on a cell phone camera?

That would be awesome, someone has to have taken a picture or a video, please post if you did!

Is there a fence keeping hikers from wandering onto the range?   I could see some dumb assess suing because there is no clear barrier.

they shouldn't be back there anywhere in the first place.

Understood, but people will be people.  We shouldn't need warnings to not use a hairdryer in the tub,  or that the coffee is hot.

And that is the crux of the problem; that trail is not legal. The City / State placed signs and tried to stop people from hiking there; but the masses of AINOKEA went anyways and the sign was over ran.

I see your point as well.
Its like the Mcdonalds guy that sued for the coffee he spilled on himself, bc Mcdonalds didn't have a warning that the coffee was hot.

It's a common misperception that the injuries suffered by the plaintiff were "simple" but reading further her injuries were severe.

Would it be possible to raise funds in order to erect fencing and/or razor wire on the trails? Sort of how private citizens helped improve the range. These hikers are idiots and it's a matter of time when one stray bullet will kill one these fools.

that would be a no. That would fall in line with the community trying to do the work themselves. But razor wire knudnuts illegal hiking trails so we can operate our rightful gun range.  Hahaha  that would be the day

To me, whether the hikers are there legally or not is moot point. If there is a barrier or fence,  at least the argument can be made that the City has performed their due diligence to physically keep the uninformed, mentally usnstable, children, etc from wandering onto a hot range.

There are signs and a fence is erected near the archery range....guess who opposed the fence and called it an eyesore?!

union/city rules prevent us from putting up fencing ourselves
razor wire could be hazardous to people/animals so they won't use it
city budget rules prohibit us from donating money directly the KHSC
we have been trying to get the city to let us do adopt-a-park, but the parks department is unwilling to even send us an application
we will be making new efforts when the new director takes office

edster will be bringing this to the attention of the HK neighborhood board at their meeting next month

whether her injuries were severe or not makes no difference.
after you feel a hot beverage in your own hands, get into a car, and spill it on yourself, who's fault is it?

the comparison I made is valid:
make a choice to do something stupid, and it's nobody's fault but your own.

I agree, however, a jury of our peers didn't and this case opened up others where "it wasn't their fault"

If the police did not arrive in time did anyone at least talk to those hikers?

Damn! these idiots are killing me!  Maybe I should get a bunch of friends together and go hiking up that trail.  Not really hiking, just slowly dragging my ass on the trail to get in their way just for the hell of it,  over and over again.  While I'm at it where can I get 5 gallon buckets of live termites!! >:D
