Arsenal Saiga SGL-21
« on: June 12, 2011, 04:38:04 PM »
So I went to the range today and the plinking range was packed. (thanks bananaclip  :D)

I had no choice but to shoot my Arsenal Saiga on the rifle side.

I shot it at 50 yards to make sure it was zeroed and then I shot the steel plates at 250 yards.

I went 15 for 15 on the square steel plate on the far right of the swinging plates.

Damn, I love this gun.

I'm sure that the TRS-25 is the reason for the accuracy but either way this gun/optic combo is incredible.

I met Steelrule today and found out that he is a fellow AK (SGL-21)owner... Sweet.

Nice  did you have a spotter calling the hits or you could see them at 250?  I swear, when I shoot my AR at 250 with irons, i can't see the .223 hit the plates.

I had two spotters.

My friend that came with me with a spotting scope and the guy next to us with a high powered scope on his .308.

You got to have witnesses when you shoot that good.

I'm trying to convince the wife in letting me pick one up.  For now I broke in Polish Milled and it was spot on (after dope adjustments). AK accurate enough, iron sight deadly.   Killed the 440 yard steel plate.   Today was a fun day, and yeah I ran into BananaClip as well.

About a year or two ago, they Arsenal was selling the SGL-21 for a highly discounted price. I think it was right around the $500 mark. I new I should have picked up one or two then.  :grrr:

Just bought a VLTOR RE-47 adapter and EMOD for the SGL-21.

I expect to receive it in a couple of days.

I'll post pics of the "new and improved" SGL-21 once I get the stock on it.

Have I mentioned that I love this gun?

If she cooked and washed clothes she'd be perfect.

I didn't find out about the VLTOR stock adapter until after I bought the UTG one. It looks like you are almost finished with the mods. Can you take a picture of the adapter by itself too?

Of course.

I was actually thinking of doing an assembly walk through with pictures once I assemble it.

Update...

Went shooting the SGL-21 today with funtimes, vooduchikn, dregs, & cougar8045 and it shot like a champ.
Accurate, easy to handle and fast.

This could be a very long relationship in the works.

Did it rain today? My wife wanted to go. Shux....I figure the best time to go is when it rains cause no one wants to get their firearms wet...and tables are vacant... ;)

Not sure why people are like that lol. I use water to rinse my gun after pouring cleaning solvent on it.m  With the exception of a wolf steel casing getting jammed today, never had a problem with my firearms.

Two things were learned today.

1) shooting guns brings smiles to faces.

2) Funtimes can unload 6 rounds out of a pump shotgun in 1.2 seconds.
