Young Guns is missing from the list as well.

Late?  It's not late as long as I can still focus my eyes on the computer screen!

I can see the moon directly overhead through the skylight in my bedroom.  Almost totally eclipsed at the moment!

The key is look for sales, follow Twitter and Facebook. YG had a sale on 22 CCI Blazer for about $50 for 1,000. They extended the sale as it didn't sell out right away.

I've seen 5.56 at OGC for 34 cents a round. Multiple pistol calibers have been on sale too.

Supply is out there and prices seem to be coming down some, just have to look.

Hey Speedtek How's that training center coming along, and how much people can you fit in the training center? I was wondering if you can reserve a luxury suite for me, Sofa big screen TV video games vending machine that has only junk food

mauidog did leave some for the next guy, it's not his fault you were not the next guy. At the gun show I bought, along with many others patrons, 1625 rounds of Federal "Target Grade" 22LR from SEC (five boxes of 325 in an ammo can) for 99 bucks. They had a stack of them when I left. If they sold out, I doubt it, you can't blame anyone because you didn't get any. In the unlikely event they did sell out, PM me and I'll sell you a couple of boxes for what I paid.
Last year at the GS, our household (4) bought 10 of these cans (16,250 rounds) @ $110.00  a can in 2 days.
That's $100 more than if I would have purchased last weekend. :(
So much for ammo shortages/scalping.
We did'nt even have a .22 at that time, but I wanted to be sure we had ammo before we purchased  .22 Glock conversions.

We haven't bought. .22 since since we've "accumulated"  and we've shot about 4,000 so we're not hoarding.

Tho I do agree with Tom...

Unless I'm experimenting, I buy by the case, never less.  Usually I'll buy multiple cases, but that usually means four or fewer.  If I ever ended up in the news, antis would call me a hoarder, while you guys would say "Eh, not a bad beginning."  To me, the "time to buy" gauge is when I have under 1,000 rounds of a caliber, and the "plenty for now" gauge is 3,000 or more.

I still have a case of 5.56 I paid $550 for last year, and they sold out in a couple of days back then.

Try to look at it like life insurance.  You paid a premium for the peace of mind knowing you have ammo set aside should another panic hit.

And, just like life insurance premiums, that's all money under the bridge...

To those bemoaning prices when you purchased, I say "get over it!"  Look, in my eyes, I buy what I need, and I buy it when I need it.  My finances, and my storage space, are both relatively fixed.  If someone were to offer .45 ACP at $0.01/round, I still couldn't buy more than a few thousand rounds because I have no where to store it.  The price when I decide to buy is the price when I decide to buy, and I refuse to lament that decision tomorrow.  Whether I 'should' have bought more because it was a bargain, or 'should' have bought less because it was overpriced, I bought what I could when I needed it.  Do I have ammo?  Only if the answer is 'no' will I indulge in self-recrimination.  And it has been a very long time since I've had to indulge in self-recrimination.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

I was not bemoaning the price I paid last year at all.   ::)
I thru that in there to show how ammo prices have DECREASED. :o
We had .22 all year and the money we saved  practicing with our conversions saved us way more than 4,000 rnds of 9mm, about $810.00 or 3,000 rnds of 9mm.  :geekdanc:

My ammo "accumulation"  has increased in value over the years so I consider it an "investment" as opposed to "Life Insurance"
I use the ammo waaaaaaaaaaaaay more than  "Life Insurance"

For me it depends on the gun(s) and caliber. Some of my rifles are quite expensive to reload for. So I only keep 100 rnds or so available for shooting. I bring multiple guns to shoot when I go. For the more common calibers I will keep between 5 and 10 shooting sessions worth of rifle ammo. For pistol calibers I shoot a lot more per session than rifle. So I keep between 10 and 15 shooting sessions worth. But .22 I shoot a lot of so I keep approximately 30 shooting sessions on hand. And I buy when I find a sale or good deal. Even if that price is higher than what it used to be. With that said I am low on CCI Standard Velocity 22. I have a favorite gun that I like to shoot this ammo in. So I buy it when I can find it no matter the price.

if its stored nicely, and properly in ammo cans or otherwise airtight, it is called buying and storing ammo

when its all over the floor and on shelves, and in the closet, and you might trip on it, then its hoarding.

i have at least 1000 per caliber.
SHTF, and bug out guns have more than that per caliber.  all stored in ammo cans.   :geekdanc:
