Okay got it high speed. Look have you taken a life? And do not add self defense because it is a touchy way of saying I shot another human being because I was threatened. Make sure you piss your pants and cry so you look like the victim, seriously. Perceptions reality! Dude, I am no lawyer but you counter violence with more violence before it happens to you or YOU AVOID IT AT ALL COST like listening to your instincts. We have replaced our instinct by going to the gun for the most part IMO. Do you incorporate deescalation of force in your training package. That's what frustrates me. BTW, I am not Ghost Stories. I do suck at writing, but it is what it is. Check the IP if you have the capability.
I don't really understand what point you're trying to make with the bolded portion; especially in light of the paragraphs that follow. You state that the options are either a)preempt the other guy's use of force or b)avoid it at all costs, then go on to rail against those who train to shoot.
Check this out, will you be a witness if one of your students, uses their weapon in self defense. Will you put your credibility on the line for another firearms enthusiast? Seriously, you train to go your gun all the time then that becomes muscle memory and the standard. I do not have time to appeal to your sense of chivalry but I get tired of people who think their bang bang is the first option and it becomes the only thing they focus on because they feel empowered. Conditioning your self enough and it becomes your first response.
Training to use your firearm if you need to is the area that people need to work on. Using fine motor skills while under stress is not something humans are disposed to naturally, therefore, it requires training. People don't need training on how to deal with assholes, we get that every day. What I'm trying to say is that simply because a course focuses on
using a firearm, doesn't mean that the students are going to go home with their natural startle reaction replaced with DRAWPOINTBANGBANGBANG! I haven't taken any of the courses in question, so I can't say for sure, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they don't advocate waking up at the sound of every bump in the night and responding by firing wildly at shadows.
Have you tried to support your local law enforcement by volunteering to serve as Reserve Officer. I would think they are allowed to carry. I do not know the HPD's status. <snip>
So we should have to be Lil' Sherriffs to carry? All kidding aside, this is just a roundabout (and well-worn) argument for gun control. Basically, you're saying that it's perfectly natural for the privileged elite to be the only ones who get to carry firearms, so if we want to do the same, we'd better join the elite. Would your suggestion be the same if politicians, LEO's, and military were the only ones allowed to vote, or practice freedom of religion, or freedom of speech?
I am out so say what you want, because dangerous men do dangerous things so you can sleep safely at night and that is the bottom line. I am out slaying bad guys and If I do not come back oh well it was good.
Oh, put it away. You're the big bad boogey man, thankyouthankyouthankyou! Your selfless heroism and disregard for your own life on an internet forum is an inspiration to us all.
Oh yeah before I punch out for good, it was a Marine that called that dude an "IT" not me, but I guess somebody is offend. Our Marine brother though that person was in the Navy. You are right I should have kept all this under the water.
It may have been the Marine who said it, but it was you who recounted the story. By your logic, no one should ever be offended by a racist or dirty joke, as long as the person telling the joke didn't make it up themself. "It wasn't ME who made that up, but I guess somebody is offended." Come on. I'm surprised that you still tried to play it off as somebody being overly sensitive in light of Dregs' prediction re: "Waiting for the response that's badly veiled and hoped to pass as genuine surprise of why anyone would take what he said as insulting; as if the reader is the unreasonable one."
