Will start with the minimum that Hodgdon lists 16.7 for 296 then go up from there.   Probably end up close to your guys loads.
Hope to find some 125 or 110 gr. bullets, primers and some 300 BLK brass at the gun show.

Has anyone here tried using AK bullets as an alternative? I just loaded a batch of 50 at varying charges. I'm still trying to work with the seating depth since the bullets seem to have a different ogive. I'm loading to 2.045" COL.

Be careful when choosing a bullet to use in your 300 BLK. You are supposed to use .308 diameter bullets. Some AK bullets can be .312 or larger.

I mic'ed the AK bullets that I have at .310". When seated, the case neck outer diameter was .3325"-.3330". They also seemed to drop in nicely into a case gauge. How can I check if the bullets are chambering too far into the leade?

You can try making a dummy roundwith a bullet that sticks out way too long. Measure the length and record it. Then shove it in the chamber and snap the bolt shut on it and make sure it is closed completely. Pull it out and re-measure. If it got shorter then it should be just touching the lands. I would back it off 0.01 and call it good. But don't forget you are also limited by the magazine. You make them too long they won't fit in the mag. Max length to fit in the mag is the same as 5.56/.223 which from memory is 2.26. All of this depends on the bullet design as well.

My load for sierra 125gr matchkings is 18.1gr of W296 and cci400. They run right at 2200FpS out of my 18 inch barrel.

I no luck with 110gr hornady vmax and 110gr m1 carbine bullets. even the factory hornady 110's sucked out of my gun. barnes 130's worked well but expensive.

For guys that load with H110/296 and 125 gr. bullets, what kind of primer do you use?   Hodgdon/WIN load data says to use SR magnum primer.   On some forums others use SR or CCI #41 primers.
This is for 16" barrel with carbine length gas system.   Also anybody try 110 gr. bullets (like A-Max) with H110/296 from a 16" barrel?

Here is some useful information that may help you with primer selection.

Where'd you get the Sierra 125 gr. MK's from?   That's what I want to start with since Sierra has a nice load chart on their site.
Why did the 110 gr. Vmax suck, poor accuracy or velocity or both?

There are probably only two places on the island I know of that sell Sierra MK's. You can try YG's and WGS. You will pay dearly for them. Online sites you can find them at decent prices include Powder Valley and Brownells/Sinclair International. I know Powder Valley ships USPS Flat Rate. Don't remember about Brownells/Sinclair. If you have a Cabela's credit card I think they still have their $5 shipping for a $99 order. When I order from Powder Valley I usually split the order with some friends to cut down on shipping costs even further. Just a suggestion. If you order from Powder Valley, also check out the Speer 130gr bullets. Cheaper than SMK's and shoot comparable in my rifle.

I get all my bullets online. Local gunshops only seem to cater to hunters.
As for the 110s, accuracy was just terrible. Like 4-5 inch groups at 100. Maybe they work for your gun.
My barrel is a Wilson combat 18" 1 in 8 twist carbine gas.

My barrel is 16" 1 in 7 twist  also carbine gas, so might be different.   May buy a 100 ct. box to see or try the Sierra 110 gr. Varminter bullet.   The Barnes 110 gr. is too much $ right now.

Inspector, I ordered bullets from Powder valley before and they were pretty fast, only thing their online ordering can be a little difficult.   I also see Brownells has them for $180 + free edge shipping.
P.M. , have you ordered from OK Weber before, how were they in shipping time and overall satisfaction?   They have the lowest price I've seen and ship USPS.

If you guys have 16-18" barrels and carbine gas, what kind of buffer and spring do you use for supersonic loads?

I use standard carbine spring and buffer.

I would order from OKWeber. They are a reputable shop that have been around for years. I think they are a small operation. Sometimes small shops take a few days to ship.

Thanks for the link. Their price is better than Powder Valley's. Next order I place I will check them out for sure.
