Browsing the article in the latest American Rifleman, seems that the action is new designed with a three lug 70 degree bolt.  The action barrel and stock look to be all one unit.  Looks like it would be a solid accurate platform.  Their avg groupings with factory ammo was 3/4" which is pretty damn good for a factory rifle and factory ammo.       This rifle is interesting me more and more.....   >:D   I doubt I'd pick one up in 6.5 though, I'd probably opt for a .308.

Apparently the barrel is affixed using a barrel nut system as well....   ;D   This would make changing chamberings fairly easy....  Just get the smith to cut the threads and chamber your choice of barrel and headspace that bugger on.   :wtf:  This might be the one.  O0   I really would like to fondle one in person, sometimes factory rifles can be so sloppy.

These look really cool, the price point is attractive as well.  Don't know if I wanna spend ~$2k for a new package at the moment though lol.

In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

most everyone i see wants the 6.5 creedmoor
but i would like the 308.
but, I also am trying to convince myself that I need this rifle.
I have never shot at 1000 yds before, and dont know when i will.  i've shot a few times over 100 yards, but lately not so much.
living in Hawaii, not many options to shoot over 300-500, unless you are military.
and I'm not military and I'm not a sniper.
and I dont hunt, not yet anyways, and its not a hunting rifle either.
but it is getting really great reviews, and the price is very apealing.
and me being a Ruger fan, i would love to have this rifle.
but for me, idk how practical it is.
i might be better off getting a hunting rifle in 308

its like getting a 1000 hp car
really cool, but you wont ever use those 1000 hp on the street.

There are opportunities to shoot at distances greater than 100 yards. From time to time we host such shoots at Puuloa. No comforts such as shade and there is work to install the targets in the carriages, mark and score for your buddies.

I have shot at Schofield and I plan to try Puuloa one of these days.
I'm just thinking out loud.
so I know there is opportunity to shoot past 100
but i would want this rifle to shoot more at 1000
If i live on the mainland, then for sure this rifle would be on my list.
i think its a great rifle for the price, and i'd love to get one.
i just would like to shoot it more than just a few times per year.

Not sure if the ballistics data have been submitted to the Marine Corps yet.

Any hope this will raise the bar for other Companies (Remington/Savage) to create some competition?

Not looking for a ballistics argument, but why give the .308 the shortest barrell of the selection?

The XM3 project produced an 18" barreled rifle.

Velocity is reduced but still enough to get out to 1000 yards.
I measured vel through a 20" and my 24" - difference of about 150~200 fps

Aloha Ren,  Do you know what is allowed to shoot there?

Also, I assume that most who want the 6.5 is because of its ballistics and great match grade factory ammo and If you reload even better yet.  Custom barrels are already being hung on these actions so thats awesome news.  That's my interest in this platform and I prefer three lug bolts also.  Changing barrels and calibers (as long as it uses the same case head size) is such a great thing.  That's why I love Blaser's, sauer's, contender's/encore's, savage/remage etc lol it makes changing cartridges quick and easy.
