Just realized, he still had all that money fund raised for him... He should give it back if he is not going to stay here and become an "inventor"

They never had any intention of sending him to MIT.  It was all a scam!

And leaving the country (jurisdiction) means they are not able to be sued or arrested for fraud.

Planned this the whole time.  There's no way they suddenly decided to leave the country!

notice they never announced they were leaving the  country until after the tour was over and they had met the president

I'm sure they would have sent him to MIT if he wanted to go there and got in someday. It's far from impossible to be accepted. It only costs twice as much as UH does these days, and if his family didn't have enough he could get a scholarship.

Kid and his family have now made out great, for something they probably did not deserve. I remember the money fund linked earlier, but as far as I could tell from these most recent articles, they are talking about an entirely different money fund, sponsored from Qatar. I don't know if the earlier fund was ever real, but the new sponsorship is probably far greater anyway.

If the US government wants to prosecute, which I'd like to see them do but doubt they ever will, they still have time to do it as he has not left the country yet.

“...it is a sad day for America that we lost an American family to religious intolerance.”

He'll probably do great over there, and maybe even become a real terrorist leader against the United States one day. That's the sad result of all of this. And in some twisted way his actions would be justified, due to the hate he received while he was in this country. After his bomb scare, the US media gave him support he did not deserve, but before that, he was persecuted in the same way he is being criticized in this thread....

The article criticizes Qatar for being a typical middle east, intolerant country....but America isn't as perfect as we often insist it is, either.

So long as once they leave, we never let them back in.......

No it is not the result of all this.
The result of dismantling a clock, putting it in a briefcase and bringing it to school looking like a timing device ?
What did they think would happen, they would call him a rocket scientist ?
(Oh shit, the main stream media and the POTUS pretty much did. )

My kid got sent to the principals office for playing finger guns at recess. Luckily not suspended.
His friend got suspended for "smoking" smarties (they're like sweet tarts).
( they smash the smarties and blow out like the old school gum cigs)
This kid is not special and was not discriminated against IMO.

And in some twisted way his actions would be justified, due to the hate he received while he was in this country.

No. Not justified.
I took a lot of shit for being Haole when I was 14. I didn't blow shit up.
I know he hasn't blown anything up yet but that's what it seems you're inferring.

Half in agreement there.
Although America's not intolerant by system. Only by individuals.

I wasn't referring to the actions of the school as discrimination, I was referring to the general mistreatment he allegedly suffered at the hands of other students, which is probably what caused him to want to do the bomb stunt to begin with. I agree that is the fault of individuals, not the American system. Nevertheless, he'll probably be treated better in Qatar than he was here.

Clock boy's family seeks  $15 Million from the city and school district.

Despite several television appearances and worldwide travel, the Mohamed family says the attention ruined their lives and eventually drove them out of the country, lawyers said.

Sudanese state radio reported that his father took him to meet Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.
The Sudanese leader is accused by the International Criminal Court of masterminding genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes during Sudan's Darfur conflict.

just to add: all those politicians and famous people (Facebook CEO) who got behind clock boy should be ashamed that they supported an unimaginative kid with an agenda to defraud the American people.
Now all these children in that district will have car washes, sell cookies, lemonade and Zippys Chili tickets to make up the purported $15 million loss. Mr. Zuckerberg and Hillary Clinton should be buying a lot of cookies from that district.

If any agency loses to, or has to pay lawyers to defend against, any lawsuit, they should turn around and sue personally any and all politicians and big mouth celebrities who cried racism over this hoax bomb.  Obama especially should be held accountable for enabling this scam-family to raise money online for MIT and now extorting millions by threatening a lawsuit.

They supported the kid in words, and now they should do so with their own cash.  Teach them there are consequences to their actions.

Liberals learning about consequences?  Okay, now I know I'm sick!

This only makes the kid, his family, and anyone who supported him look worse. I think the city and school district should countersue. Can this kid still be prosecuted criminally?

With the Great Divider in the White House?  He'd have his DOJ sue for harassment anybody who tried to press charges after he made such an idiotic spectacle of himself over this scam artist family.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/orlando-shooter-omar-mateen-father-134807124.html

Seddique Mateen is a US Citizen, the self-appointed President of Afghanistan, and the father of Omar Mateen, the man who killed more than 49 people at an Orlando nightclub this weekend in in the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. In the aftermath of the shooting...the elder Mateen appeared to fluctuate between grief and grandiosity.

This guy's father seems a lot like the clock kid's father.
