I'm sorry, but I have to ask admin for a ID/IP verification. When you throw down smack on your first post just like another totally new user bells ring.
I have been on this Island for a year now and found OGC to have the best prices, very close to some shops in the mainland. I was a big fan of this shop at first.
Now I rather pay more, elsewhere then to deal with the owners behavior. He is very unfriendly, rude and unappreciative. He will treat people with extreme demeanor, knowing that he has the best prices he really doesn't care about customer relations.
I am going to have to agree with this guy. OGC does without doubt have some of the best prices on the island, but I've found Carter to be almost bipolar. At times he will treat you with great consideration and respect, but most other times he will be a condescending douche. I myself am willing to spend extra money not to deal with someone who treats me like shit, I refuse to financially support those who aren't willing to treat others with consistent respect and civility.
If you have had a different experience, good for you, I only speak from my own. As for the rest of the shop, for the most part they are very much on it. Eugene and Eric are very knowledgeable and respectful at all times towards myself. Dan, whilst being a nice guy overall, is a bit like an overattentive waiter and lacks knowledge on many of the products.
Overall its a nice shop with good prices, but for those wanting ample parking and to avoid a grumpy wannabe "know-it-all," I would say to check out some of the other shops on the island.
True story. I don't know this Carter fellow, but I rather doubt that he's such a raging dickhead that people who deal with him are inspired to go home, google up 2ahawaii, sign up for accounts, and let us all know about his douchebaggery.
Really, you'd be surprised.
All it takes is for someone to ask for a sale price that ended the previous week and be denied and then suddenly I was a raging jerk to them.
When I say no and am asked "Come on, just this once" and I say no, and then they say "But I bought two glocks from you (at the best price in the state), can't you be more grateful to me" and I say "Sorry, no the sale is over"
If you (Im not pointing fingers, Im saying anyone) really have a problem, and you are too much of a petulant coward board troll or liar to send an email to us explaining why you felt you received poor service than there is not much I can do.
At that point you are seeking to damage us rather than make things better.
Anonymously posting without having the maturity to make any attempt whatsoever (even if the attempt is anonymous!) to rectify the situation is a the ultimate sign of liar or of a even more sinister agenda.
This is a for-profit business, not a school yard. If people make attacks on us that they know to be false its even considered illegal.
That being said I have to remove myself from this. I'm getting worked up and my entire livelihood is tied up in this, not just a hobby. This is what puts food on my children's table. When you attack me you are not just saying I dont like that guy, you are attacking my whole family and ability to make a living. Now you understand why I was the only one of the shop owners participating in these forums and now that has to come to an end.
Absolutely nothing I said was illegal, as I only stated the truth of my experience. It boggles my mind that people would be so offended that I conveyed what I happened to experience. I bought a firearm from Carter, because it was a good price. I sat through his condescending attitude, and I now choose to patronize other local gun shops.
If this forum isn't mature enough to handle an honest discussion on what happened there because I chose to actually, God forbid, register on this forum and give a voice to my opinion on a subject I happened to have experience with; then perhaps the first amendment just doesn't have a place here.
I'm so sorry for treading on the sacred reputation of OGC, perhaps if Carter paid a little more attention to how he treats his customers, and the perception he creates; I wouldn't have had this experience. As I stated previously, they have good prices and I do think it is a good shop, I just didn't enjoy the way I was treated by ONE employee/owner.
Open discussion of things we experience as gun owners in the local shops in Hawaii should NOT be kapu!
I still think you're not reading a thing I type. I'm asking you, practically begging you, to send me the details of your negative experience with me, even anonymously, and you just ignore it. Are you out to hurt OGC? Or were you really offended/treated poorly and would like it not to happen again, which can be rectified by sharing with me how we, or apparently I, went wrong?. Do you really like the shop and prices or are you merely saying that so your attacks seem more moderate and considered?
You perceive people are jumping on you to defend OGC? Have you considered the possibility that they didn't have the negative experience you had? That it was perhaps a fluke or communications problem?
And I get called a wannabe "know-it-all" and its not a personal attack? Would you like to consider the military and civilian shooting and gunsmithing courses I have attended? Or perhaps the fact I passed the certification courses for Glock and Remington? Or that I'm a certified and current NRA Instructor? Or that I personally own in my collection many of the firearms we sell and I'm an active shooter and competition pistol shooter and I'm more than willing to share what I learned? Or that I have a constant stream of military and law enforcement customers that share their experiences with me about what actually worked in the line of fire and I consider their experiences when deciding what to carry?
Maybe what you perceive as a know it all is someone who actually knows what the hell he is talking about and when it conflicts with your thoughts or personal experiences suddenly I'm a wannabe know-it-all? I'll tell you right now, son. I'm a be (I hope you get that, I thought it was really clever when I typed it)
Perhaps it is you who is not reading a thing that I've typed. The details of my experiences with you were that you acted like a 'condescending douche.' I do not appreciate it when I am not treated with respect in any situation, let alone when I am handing over my hard earned money, whilst I patronize someone's business. I am not out to hurt OGC in any way, I was simply empathizing with a fellow poster on an experience I had in your establishment. I do not seek
rectification to the situation, as I gave you a few chances and you proved your demeanour time and time again. I acknowledge that you have good prices, and I choose to pay more to be treated with respect. It just so happens that this is the first time I chose to voice my opinion on something in this forum, I am not the most social of shooters or most active of computer users. I'm sorry if it offends some on the forum that I don't have a lengthy history here.
I'm glad you are proud of your 'resume' in regard to firearms. I'm sure many are impressed when you say you shoot competetively and have taken these courses. There's just no way anyone else could possible garner information on simple mechanics for themselves without your dispensing it. You're definitely a 'be.' I'm sure anyone who has been to one of the competitions can attest to your great skill. Maybe a class on customer service is in order next?
If you do not like the issues I seem to have brought to light, like I said before, perhaps you should take more care in the way you treat those who choose to shop at your establishment, after all as you pointed out, they provide for you and your family. Your employees certainly do not have the same problem, and I wholeheartedly appreciated the way in which they treated me; it's just too bad that sometimes one bad apple spoils the bunch.
As for your cheerleaders, I'm glad you have such loyal supporters, however, I seriously doubt I am the only person whom you have treated this way. A bit of advice, try to be cheerful, or at the very least, respectful. If you are having a bad day, perhaps you should hand the shop over to your employees while you go out and take a break, relax, and maybe even cheer up. In the long run your business will do better with return customers if I'm not some sort of isolated incident.
Good luck.
