I ordered a couple things lately that used UPS ground and then mailed via USPS once it reached the west coast
lately UPS is sucking in my book
their tracking is just an estimate, it is not actually tracked, then once USPS gets it, there is no traciing till it arrives
had same 7-10 days estimate delivery but took around 21-24 days total
I really prefer USPS nowadays, priority is usually cheaper and faster
but sometimes UPS ground is all they offer
i know how you feel, just waiting with no tracking sucks!

Why I quit CTD, ordering the MTM ammocan with handgun trays $24.97, added to cart, put in zip for shipping, great FREE shipping. Go to check- out all I get is two shipping options.
Standard Arrives in 3 to 5 business days($67.28)
2nd Day Air Arrives in 2 to 3 business days($100.14)

Ok, quick update. So I got a call from cheaperthandirt after the fact I filed a complaint with the better business bureau. The lady said she tried to locate my items but couldn't even find it in their system which is a lie because the they told me yesterday it was coming on boat. (They're probably saying that so they don't look bad with the bbb)
Anyways the lady said they will put in a lost package in their system and refund me my money which will take 3 business days. I told her that they need to work on their customer service because they informed me yesterday my items were at the kapolei post office which I waited 25 min in line because one teller (that's another issue on its own btw), but my items were never there. I said they need to get their facts straight before giving their customers information. The lady said it was supposed to go to ups then to USPS then flown in on a 2 day. Well I'm not ever chancing it again, another customer lost. Good thing is that I'm getting a refund sooner than later (hopefully).

I just noticed the add on the bottom for optic planets.. How are they ? LoL never mind I'm staying local... :D

Cheaper than dirt sucks. Their shipping policies suck. Their price gouging after sandy hook sucked. There are plenty of other business that want you as a customer and don't want to put it in your butt.

Cheaper than dirt sucks !
They have for a while.

Midway shipping going up too but not bad if you buy enough stuff in one order.
At least they've been timely.

Amazon over $35 free shipping has still been rocking it based on Christmas and post Christmas purchases.
5-7 days.

I had a short relationship with Cheaper than Dirt also.
Tried to buy a couple of DVDS from them and they wanted as much as the price of the product to UPS them to me .
Wouldn't even consider mail. "We don't use the Mail" or words to that effect when called on it.
Bought them from the producer direct instead along with many more, all mailed to me with a smile. For a couple bucks

Midway is no longer my go to vendor for stuff too. They want to Charge an extra $10 to ship to Hawaii.
Never mind that it came in a flat rate box, delivered to me by the Postman, on a Saturday.
Should not cost any more to ship to Hawaii by flat rate than to ship across the street.
Complained to the top, Larry Potterfield,  and was told by the flunky he assigned to deal with me  that was how it was going to be.
When told by CS that "we don't ship flat rate" I even sent them pics of the box with their return address on them to no further avail.
Lucky we live Hawaii! I think. See the attached cuts from the email string

Thank you for your recent email. I apologize for the confusion regarding our shipping charges, we do not ship using Flat-Rate USPS. We do require a $10 additional fee to ship to Alaska, Hawaii, and US Territories for all orders that are over 1lb because it is more expensive to ship to these areas.

We thank you for your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion. If you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-243-3220. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT. You may also email us at customerservice@midwayusa.com.

Thanks for Your Business!

How we can help:
Need to talk to somebody about shipping to Hawaii. My last order of any consequence was shipped to me by Flat rate mail, in a flat rate box with flat rate postage on it, and delivered by the postman.
Yet I was charged an additional $10.00 because I live in Hawaii.
This box should not have cost any more to mail to me than to mail across the street.
What's up with the surcharge??? Nothing hazardous, powder or ammunition.
If I was paying for expedited Fed Ex or UPS, then I would have no issue, but the mail is the mail and last I looked we were a State and the mail comes six days a week.
I would like to get some stuff, but we need to sort this out before I place an order.
Don't mind paying the postage, whatever it is, flat rate always being the best deal to Hawaii, but won't be paying a surcharge for USPS. This is borderline fraudulent.
I am prepared to run this as far up the chain as it needs to go. Who is pocketing the extra 10 bucks????

Thank you and Aloha

Never tried CTD and never will.  Thank you all for the heads up!  I spent a lot of $$$ at midway before their shipping prices got ridiculous and they started messing around with UPS. I complained to the CS about it and got a similar answer as Gordyf..  Brownells also ships with UPS innovations, I've been lucky with them so far as ship times, but that is a gamble.

AIM surplus has some awesome CS.  They shipped via UPS innovations and my package ended up on the slow boat.  When I inquired, they tried their best to locate the item and offered to refund, or to mail out a new item via USPS,  if not received by the end of that week.  It arrived just 2 days prior to that and all was well.  Their cart does not offer USPS but they said you can request it If you wish.  Now that is how CS is supposed to work!

Generally I will not do business with any company that refuses to send me items via USPS.  UPS and FedEx has screwed me over many times, and unless absolutely necessary, I don't spend money there.

Amen to that.
Also don't order from Midway also due to high shipping.   SKD, Bravo and PA are reasonable.   I'm happy with Brownell's edge program.

When they jacked up the prices during the last gun ban scare, didn't they change their name to "Lower Than Dirt"?
I think, therefore I am armed.

Recently had a problem with a Midway order that was sent UPS ground. Apparently when it get to California they decide to fly it over or send it via boat. It's called parcel post I believe. You can pay an upgrade fee with UPS to have all ground pakages flown over instead of coming by boat. I started buying my stuff from Brownells. They send my stuff via USPS and I get it in less than a week for cheaper than Midway

Back about 10-12 years ago, CTD refused to ship to Hawaii, even though they were sending catalogs to people here. I figured, the hell with 'em. Ain't had reason to change that position.

Optics Planet sucks Rocks...  Ordered a CMR scope and they sent me the wrong one.  Tried to return and got the run around and was not being called back...

Look around online and you can find other similar complains.

Like cheaper than dirt if i see it from them or Optics Planet i move on.

Try these guys they don't have everything but their prices are reasonable and offer Military discount or price matching:

I've been using OpticsPlanet for years... Never had any problems at all... I even returned 3 perfectly good reddots until i figured out the tilt in the lens is supposed to be that way...i have spent probably close to 5k on scopes, binoculars, and other sights. So i have no clue how you could compare them to  CTD.  Obviously you have your reasons but my experience with them is really good, sorry that yours wasn't.

Another update with ctd, so they were supposed to refund me but never did. Came home today and guess what I received the items that I ordered from them. I bet they priority mailed them to me after my complaint with the bbb. Still they fkn suck because I have no use for the items because I already ordered with another company USPS priority mail which should be here tomorrow. So now I gotta return this shit to get my money back or sell here on 2a. Waste of time! Do not buy from cheaper than dirt cuz their customer service is literally dirt!!!

I boycott CTD as well.  Mostly due to their shipping costs.  I bought a set of MSA ear pro from them a long time ago and IIRC the shipping was reasonable back then.  Not anymore.

Since then, they have done all sorts of crazy things like jacked up pricing.  Plenty of other avenues to get what I want.
