When I see all the successful Blacks in the US, from the President on down to Oprah, and thousands of others, complaining they are oppressed, I look at my life and wonder when I'll be oppressed into becoming a celebrity multi-millionaire!

I'm not black but what i can say is I don't think they are being oppressed.  We have come a long way from slavery. In fact in many ways minorities including african americans have it better cause of affirmative action.  Cheaper school.  Company hiring "quota".  etc.  Literally the only thing stopping them is the group of thugs and criminals.  No company wants to hire criminals.

Don't forget if anything remotely goes wrong and you are not white you can place the race card.  Anything but success is cause of race issues.

I think much of what the Liberals have done to "help" the poor and minorities have hurt them more.  Too many are now dependent on the government to keep leveling that playing field more and more.

Think there's a lot of truth in that.  Reminds me of that scene from Remember the Titans and Denzel explaining why he doesn't coddle the black players, because by doing so cripples them for life. 

Yes, there are those that truly need the assistance, be it poor, minority, whatever.  However, there needs to be a process where it helps or even forces people to get off assistance, of course when they are able.

No, because there are numerous success stories within the black community, like Ben Carson, who rose up from poverty to succeed in life by not making excuses and having a strong parent guide him along the way.

When the PRESIDENT OF THE MOST POWERFUL NATION stands up before the cameras and says the nation is racist, Blacks are oppressed, and rich Whites are the problem, what message does that convey? 

He's Black, successful, rich, and powerful.  If he changed his message to "look at what I achieved in America", do you really think it would not have a positive impact on the nation?

Obama's party is doing all they can to bring in more and more refugees and immigrants, bypassing normal and legal immigration processes.  If we are so oppressive, why the hell are they bringing more people to the US to be oppressed?  That is about as logical as buying all your friends plane tickets to the Atlantis airport!

No disagreement here.  I'm very much the same way, but that was the closest I could find to the sentiment I was trying to convey.  Wish more people took the first part to heart.  As for the standard, well, that's up to you.

I grew up in the South and went to county schools where about 1/4 or more of the classes were Blacks. 

When I was very young, I asked my mother what N----r meant.  She explained, "It's a bad word some people use for Blacks.  It really means uneducated, good-for-nothing people.  There are White n----rs and Black ones.  What color someone is doesn't matter.  What matters is how they live and treat others."

That was about the time of the race riots in the 60s.  I was too young to know why all that was happening.  All I know is I have always treated everyone the same and don't think I really judged people other than those who treated me right and those who did not.

I say, if Obama spoke to the nation the way my mother spoke to me, we'd be less divided now.  Obama has brought us back to the 60s again .... and he calls this "progressive?"

Personally, I believe racism, bias, etc still very much exist and don't see that changing very much any time soon.  It just doesn't help when you have people throwing fuel on the fire to serve their agenda. 

Even me, I don't believe I am racist, but I definitely have biases.  Learned a lot about that when I went away for school and live away.  I now have very close friends that my first reaction to wasn't exactly positive.

Having an oppressed underclass is useful for the powers that run this country. They can point at the victims and tell the middle class that "those people" are the problem as the ultra wealthy pick your pockets and strip away rights. For your own protection, of course.

Was listening to a segment about middle class on NPR this morning.  One of the people said something like "well, to have a middle class, you need a lower class".  While obvious, they brought up good points about the lower class being pawns in the Civil War and even in how the term white trash came about.
