It's not that anyone was talking of mass shootings, the point is, if any political group/individual were to 'read' into a statement, and take violent action, history would show the person or persons would be on democrat side of the center.

I don't know about that. We have seen enough violent people at Trump and Clinton rallies to know that violence isn't beyond supporters of either party. If we were playing the odds I would agree, but in this case, it only takes one person.

Are you kidding?  Violent people at Trump rallies are lefties, violent people at Clinton rallies are Bernie lefties.

If conservatives started a riot, no matter how small or insignificant, at a Clinton rally it would be recirculated, regurgitated, and exaggerated NONSTOP on every news station, radio station, twitter feed, facebook post, and newspaper.

Wouldn't surprise me but still irrelevant.

No one is talking about mass shootings.

In a position of leadership that is exactly what happens. Conservatives ridicule Obama left and right for his comments which do no explicitly say something but imply something. He get attacked for weak foreign policy and that is exactly what he is criticized for, comments which the enemy doesn't think strong enough.

Nice avoidance. Red herring.

I agree there is more violence from the left, but there were multiple documented incidents of Trump supporters at Trump rallies assaulting anti-trump protestors.

But again, the point is not who is more violent. I agree with you and am not trying to argue that point. My argument is that it only takes one person to interpret Trump's "joke" a certain way and act on it. That is why a person in such a position should not make such a joke.

I simply replied to your own counter points. The discussion was not about mass shootings but you brought that up. So how am I the one guilty of saying stuff that isn't meaningful? At least two other people on this thread, including the OP, had similar concerns as those I was voicing. My comments here are directly on topic and my posts have been relatively short, 1 to 2 small paragraphs at most.

Well, not ALL, at least one is here to provoke.

If he/she discusses 2A issues at all, it is usually trying to find silver linings in any new gun restriction legislation.

This is an ABC poll mind you. And like I said before, ultra liberal MSN polls I have seen show 60 to 80 percent in favor of Trump.

I think we will lose most of our 2A rights come November....
unless the NRA becomes a big donor to the Clinton Foundation.

There were more than one instance where someone was assaulted when peacefully walking away. Again, not trying make the case for which side is more guilty or more violent, just saying their are irrational violent Trump supporters.

Bottom line, I don't think Trump did us any favors with his comment.

So if anyone disagrees with you they are provoking something? Unfortunately you don't seem to appreciate objectivity.

Read all my comments on this thread, they are all on the topic. I am not saying anything radical or off topic. I said nothing outrageous or provocative. If someone is provoking a fight here, it is not me.

As for his comment, as was pointed out earlier, it is a matter of interpretation.  Sorry, I can't find anything on trump supporters assaulting people, maybe verbally?  My google foo is weak. I would think I would get 1,000,000 hits on that topic.

I watched that video of Trump's speech 3 times to make sure I follow this conversation.

Transcribed below is what he said from the video between 0:40 to 1:05.

Quote
"Hillary wants to abolish or essentially abolish the second amendment.  By the way, if she gets to pick ... If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do about it, folks.  Although the second amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know. But... But I'll tell you what...that will be a horrible day. "

The points he made in his remarks are as follows:

1. Hillary wants to abolish the second amendment.

2. When she appoints her judges, she would essentially abolish the second amendment.

3. We would lose out 2nd amendment rights.

4. The 2nd amendment people won't give up their rights and we would end up having armed resistance against government tyranny.  This would be a horrible day.

He then goes to say that we currently have a tie on the Supreme Court with the death of Scalia, then talks about the judges that he would appoint.

There is NOTHING there in what Trump said about assassinating HRC.  Anyone insisting that there is has taken the words out of context.

I don't know about you guys, but I essentially agree with what he said here.

Many have taken an oath to defend the constitution.  If our 2nd amendment (and 1st amendment) rights are abolished, it will be a horrible horrible day in US history.
I think, therefore I am armed.

To me the reference to 2A people means that through NRA which has the most influence,  2A supporters will pressure congress especially the senate to block all of HRC;s SC nominations.    That's the message I got.

I agree that he didn't say it but the tone he used, the way he delivered it, etc. left the door open. Just like someone who makes a "get your mind out of the gutter" joke, they don't say anything that is explicitly sexual but everyone knows there was that implication. Trump never said Megan Kelly was on her menstrual cycle but he said she was bleeding out of her whatever. He can turn around and claim that he didn't say or mean her vagina but we all know that the first thing that jumped into anyone's mind was menstruation. And unless Trump is an idiot he knew full well that when he made that comment our own minds would fill in the blank. Trump is a smart man, he knows how to word something that would plant a certain idea in people's heads but leave enough of an exit where he can claim he never actually said or meant that.

In politics all your opponents will try to take your words out of context. We do it to Clinton and Democrats do it to Trump. My biggest problem is that Trump, as president, cannot behave this way.

I think everyone is in absolute agreement with everything else he said, he made very valid points about Clinton and our gun rights but he topped it off with a stupid comment that just makes us look bad. That is my opinion, and I will leave it at that.
