Folks, this is a very interesting discussion with many points of view and good support for them.
Mostly I would say, let's not fight the last war. The New War will be totally unlike anything that anyone imagines. The technology and tactics are all new, and even the politics are all new. And by that I even mean, new and untried.
I'll give you an example I can think of just randomly: China uses a holographic projection system to beam either a) aliens b) Christ or c) Buddha, to tell everyone to do XYZ or just generally freak them out. While you are watching this amazing illusion in the sky, your eyes are blinded by laser dazzlers.
So, there you have it. Game over. And that's just China. Russia also wants in on it. And the whole global chessboard is constantly being reshuffled.
I would say, an invading force will NOT nuke Hawaii if they want to invade the mainland USA, and thus want to use HI as the staging area (which would be awesome for them as an "unsinkable aircraft carrier"). Of course that also opens them up to being nuked in turn.
Right now, I just learn everything I can. About everything. DIY this and that. And not just to "prep" but also it is fun. Like understanding how an AR works. That is interesting in and of itself. And making friends in the community. These things we can do, AND ENJOY, without necessarily worrying out what is coming. I agree SOMETHING is coming but dunno what. And in fact we should enjoy the ability to learn so much stuff, mostly for free!, while we still can.
