What do you guys think of this for home defense ?

I have 4 @ 5 oz grenades on back-order now.     

I was considering them for home defense.  If I am upstairs and hear someone who doesn't belong downstairs, it might give me some extra time before they make it up the stairs -- assuming they don't decide to just leave.

I just picked up 2x 2oz for the same reason,

Thrown down stairs anyone that hangs around is doing so with the intent to cause me harm,

Maybe cause filling an enclosed space with pepper air can have no negative aspects for yourself.... If people already get hurt when they spray pepper spray against the wind imagine this...

I heard the same noise come out of them snowflakes on the night Trump was announced as our new president!!! 

Or you can go aloha snackbar and rush the intruder with it.

It works like a bug bomb.  Activate it, and it immediately start spewing pepper spray.  It would be nice if they could add a delay.

Most people who have used this recommend having protective gear in place before using (gas mask).  You should at a minimum point the business end away from you as you press the activator, then move back as fast as you can out of range.

Part of the effectiveness of this kind of device is the other person not knowing what you just did to him.  If he hesitates to check his watery, painful eyes, it's in your favor.

What do you guys think of this for home defense ?

I think its actual use would be very very limited.
#1 if your door or room doesn't have a real good seal then it could leak in to where you are.
#2 if you barricade yourself and throw it but have to run out then you may just have made your passage difficult
#3 If you cannot turn it off then it will continue until empty.
#4 Even when you get your house aired out and cleaners, someday you will brush something that still has the residue  settled on it and you will expose yourself again. The secondary exposures will likely occur many times over a long period of time.

But if that is your only option then I would rather my whole family be exposed than be killed.

I think I prefer my AR15 for HD.

Another consideration is when police and EMT's enter the house.

Probably do not want that stuff all over your furniture.

Understandably this is not something you would want to fire off for a casual occasion, we are talking about defending your home from intruders in which case the last thing I would be worried about is this stuff getting on my furniture or the inconvenience caused  to police or EMS.

This is an area denial tool, meaning it's either used to deny access or make some one flee. In a home invasion scenario it could be used to deny access to an area of the house for example in a 2 story house one of these dropped down a stairway would deny and intruders access to an upper area and/or force them out of a lower area.

It could be thrown into a garage, garden, yard or drivewayto deny access or remove intruders from that area.

Also consider this, how much is a lawyer going to cost you if you shoot the guy stealing your tv ? VS paying to have your house cleaned to get rid of OC residue ?


Not saying it's a tool for every one or every occasion but I can see it having its uses.

The effect or considerations of residue was one of the first things that came to mind.

There has been successful suits of people using any sort of defense against a intruder where they can sue.  They can still sue you for using this pepper spray bomb.
