Had a girl ask about sex trafficking on SSH and which candidate helps protect our children.  I told her to google the amount of sex traffickers arrested during 45's reign compared to all previous years.  She didn't want to hear it.  Her haterid for 45 was so great that I guess her children don't matter.  Told her that ICE is the ones who enforce/investigate it also.  So any candidate who doesn't support ICE, indirectly doesn't support sex trafficking.

2018-5800 (it's only August)
2017-3700
2016-1700
2015-1400
2014-1900

Didn't get a chance to send her the Hirono video of her not knowing if a US citizen who is  a child has been to an ICE detention center.

Arrest numbers alone don't tell the whole picture but it is definitely a start.

So, what's the whole picture?  You can't make a claim like that without knowing what the whole story is.

Well convictions would also be very relevant for starters.

Also, the numbers changemyoil posted are not sex trafficking arrest numbers, they are human trafficking arrest numbers. So it would include sex trafficking but it also includes other types of trafficking such as labor trafficking. I have not been able to find a breakdown of how many of the human trafficking arrests are specifically sex trafficking so it might be inaccurate to say that ICE arrests of sex traffickers jumped up under Trump's watch.

When I looked into this I also found that the numbers are suspect. According to the White House website, in 2017 there were 1600 human trafficking arrests by ICE. Looks like somebody might be fudging the numbers in Trump's favor.

So, convictions would be relevant.  But you don't know that number.  Check.

And you feel someone misstating human trafficking numbers is a problem because it doesn't break out sex trafficking vs. labor trafficking -- even though both are just as bad and are forms of slavery.  Check.

Finally, you did some looking into this, and you think the numbers published are suspicious.  All you did was google a few terms and look at the first official-looking link that popped up. Check.

You should have looked more closely at the ice.gov website where they actually have the numbers of arrests AND convictions and many other tables and charts to explain what they've done each year.

Basically, you don't have the whole picture.  Just more questions.   Check.

Of course I have more questions. Someone throws out a single dataset that may or may not be accurate and I point out that more information is necessary to say whether the claim is accurate. Basically cautioning against jumping to conclusions. Not sure what problem you have with that.

Yes, misstating numbers is a problem. Don't claim all human trafficking as sex trafficking, that gives people an inaccurate picture of what is going on.

Yes, I can research the numbers some more but I am not the one making claims about how good a job Trump's administration is doing. Someone else did and I am just analyzing that claim. I found it didn't jive with the numbers provided by the Trump White House so it calls into question the authenticity. I don't know which one is accurate, but I am also not making an argument I need to support.

You said, "Arrest numbers alone don't tell the whole picture but it is definitely a start."

How can you make that claim without knowing "the whole picture?" You're making an assumption, but you stated it as a fact.

Your claim, not anyone else's.  Isn't it your "rule" that it's incumbent on the person making a claim to provide the supporting sources and information?  I'm pretty sure that was your position in a recent post.

What is going on is human trafficking. Some are for labor, and most are for sex industry or slaves.  Some are used for both labor and sex. It's not relevant to "what's going on."  Human trafficking is the issue. Changemyoil66 saying "sex trafficking" may or may not be specifically accurate, but you don't know where he got his numbers.

I'll bet he didn't use the first link off a Google search.

I read yesterday that China is starting to give in to the tariffs imposed on their products by Trump. It is probably too early to say how this is going to end but it is already starting to look like we will probably win eventually.

The press tried to push the narrative that Trump started a "Trade War."  The war already existed.  He was simply starting to fight back on behalf of the US.

China needs our consumers much more than our consumers need to save $30 on a SmartPhone.

The financial news today is confirming that we buy about twice as much from China as they buy from us. So as they apply tariffs to the products they buy from us, they are running out of products to apply tariffs to. While we have a lot more products we can apply tariffs to, China is running out of gas quickly in this so called trade war. In other words they can only do so much to hurt us and we have a lot more we can do to hurt their economy. The tariffs are also having an effect on the Chinese currency as it is losing value against our strong dollar. It just seems like our previous administrations either didn’t have the temerity or desire to take on China in our trade imbalance.

Again, I’m not trying to predict what the outcome is going to be. Just trying to portray what the financial news outlets are talking about today.

Trump's already reduced our trade imbalance in total by over $52B.

That's on top of the money we'll save by NATO members increasing their portion of funding.

Now let's add up all the people now PAYING taxes because they're working PLUS the welfare benefits we aren't paying them.

We could keep adding all the ways the new policies are helping the nation and the government.  I think at some point, the debt will start being reduced once the tax revenue replaces what we had to borrow to pay our bills.

That all assumes we don't stupidly elect a Socialist who has no plan for paying $32T for "Healthcare for All".

I was hearing and reading reports that China's economy isn't doing all that well.  Like many things coming out of China, information is being provided by the government and of course they are going to portray that as strong.  But something like the country is slowly tearing itself apart.  Not quite like North Korea, but something like they might not be that far behind.

While I'd have to look at the details of the NDAA, this is another example of Trump making good on his promises.  More winning and actions speaking quite loudly.

Yes, I'm sure there is wasteful spending in there, but there always is.

Quote
On Monday, President Trump signed the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, a bill authorizing an increase of over 15,000 troops as well as a long-overdue pay raise for soldiers. The military spending package includes $717 billion for national defense in the next fiscal year, according to the White House.

Don't you know, Nazi's cant take guns if they have no military to do so.

On  a side note, I read that Manafort is confined to his cell 23hrs a day.  And the Muslim, school shooting trainer was released on $20K bail.  Local police doing the FBI's job for the arrest.
