Well that’s one way of interpreting what he said. I guess they should be happy for the first raise they’ve received in 10 years. They probably are about as excited as all of the federal workers affected by the shutdown who personally thanked Trump😂😂😂

If a short budget fight results in the start of real border security that prevents another 20+ million illegals and criminals from freely flowing into the US, I think most of us with more than 30 years on this Earth welcome it.

This was Chuck Schumer in 2009.  Why is border security and policies to stop illegals from entering the US now a bad thing:

It doesn't matter what Trump promised because he constantly breaks his promises. There are very few things he says we can actually trust.

He stated he would take full responsibility for a government shut down and now he backs away from it blaming the democrats.

Can anyone confirm, I saw some pics of Trump in Iraq and he allowed the soldiers to keep their weapons because "why not, they're in a war zone".  Vs. Obama who had them disarmed when meeting and greeting.  Not talking about private security either.

All politicians make promises, but to me is keeping more of them than others.  And some of the ones he didn't keep are out of his control like the ACA, but he did take away the penalty for not having insurance.

He promised:
More jobs
Stop getting the short end of international deals
Military pay raise (not really is doing, but every few years a raise comes around)
Lower taxes (subjective depending what bracket you're in.  My taxes will be lower in 2019)

Promises he didn't keep so far
Wall (working on it)
Signing reciprocity (bill never came to his desk)
ACA replacement "make it better" (see above)
Protect gun rights (bump stock ban)

This week, Melania Trump became the first First Lady to visit troops in an active combat zone since 1969.

Unless not running under nonexistent sniper fire counts.  Then it would be since 1996.

His mini interview was pretty good about it.  He was asked if he felt safe and said yes.  But was weird to have a blacked out airplane.  No lights on or anything.  He was worried about his wife's safety though.

Feeling safe and taking proper precautions are not mutually exclusive.

Cop:  Good afternoon, ma'am, I stopped you for speeding. Is that a revolver in your passenger seat?

Old Lady: Yes it is, Officer.

Cop:  Do you have any other weapons I need to know about?

Old Lady:  Well, I have a Glock in the center console, a 12 gauge auto in the trunk, and a .380 in my purse.

Cop:  Holy cow!  What are you afraid of?

Old Lady:  Absolutely nothing.

Trump is kind of odd though, he does keep a fair number of his campaign promises (that are within his ability) but he lies about so many things that aren't necessarily policy issues.

Case in point he said he would be so busy he wouldn't have time to golf, but he golfs often. Now I am not against occasional golfing, everyone needs a relaxation period but he didn't keep the promise. Now of course that isn't a policy thing but it is something where people still see he lied or didn't keep his promise. Same with the responsibility for the shutdown, etc.

That was one of his campaign promises? To golf less? He can golf all he wants because he's making America great :shaka:

Haters seem to care more about what Trump says and not much at all about what he does.

In 2017, North Korea conducted 17 or more ballistic missile tests.

In 2018, North Korea conducted 0 ballistic missile tests.

Trump will go down in history as "The Dog-Year President."

He accomplishes in one year what it takes other presidents 7 years to do.

It wasn't a promise but something to the effect that he would be so busy he wouldn't have time to golf. I am not complaining that he golfs though. I might complain that he golfs at his own courses (ethical issue) but that is a separate topic.

Haters seem to care more about what Trump says and not much at all about what he does.

For someone in the position of the president, talking is doing. So much of his job is talking you can't really separate out the two.

So when he claims he gave the military the only pay raise in 10 years but his statement is false, why does he get credit for "doing" that? Or does that false statement just get discounted because it was talking and not doing?

There are many things Trump has done, some good, some bad. It isn't an all or nothing type thing. I am neither a supporter or a hater because I don't fall into that false dichotomy. He gets credit from me when he says/does something good and he gets criticism from me when he says/does something bad.
