Maine Newspaper Calls For COMPLETE GUN BAN
« on: February 26, 2018, 10:27:58 AM »
Remember how just a short time ago nearly all the "commonsense gun safety regulations" advocates mocked as paranoid lunatics those who warned of possible "confiscation" by shouting over and over and over "No one wants to take your guns away! No one is saying that!"? Of course over the years a few of the civilian disarmaments advocates did let slip their real agenda, sometimes even honestly naming an organization, such as "The National Coalition to Ban Handguns". Those names and agendas didn't play well at all in this country (being full of "bitter clingers" and "deplorables", etc.), and thus the "strategic" plan to change those names, and change the stated goals to mere "commonsense measures to end gun violence".

In the wake of the Florida high school murders we have seen a number of commentators, including writers in the New York Times, call for various measures including totally banning firearms from civilians, repealing the Second Amendment, banning various classes of firearms, etc.  I guess there is something to be said for an occasional glimmer of honesty from those people steeped in lying and deliberate misinforming as a political strategy.

Here's one example:

Maine Newspaper Calls For COMPLETE GUN BAN

Excerpts:

“Let’s clear the air and call for total civilian disarmament. Period.” says Greg Bates, in an op-ed for the Portland Press Herald in Maine, for which he takes off the mask and calls for an end to the 2nd Amendment.

We need to stand up to the NRA and push for what is so desperately needed: a complete ban on firearms.

But a fuzzy demand for “gun control” will likely squander this opportunity to save lives. To end gun deaths, we need to ban all civilian guns.

If we want to end the carnage, we must advocate for the solution that is required, not one designed to be politically palatable. Instead of shying away from the NRA’s accusation that gun control advocates want to take away their guns, we should embrace it as a mantra.

Let’s clear the air and call for total civilian disarmament. Period.

Good for him and saying what he means instead of saying "common sense" over and over.

But... "We need to stand up to the NRA"   That's not exactly right is it?  As if you disbanded the NRA everyone just throw away their guns?

what you really mean is "we need to stand up to gun owners" and start the process that would be a massive bloody civil war to disarm citizens.
And how many guns you will need to do it.  Also remember the army wont be disarming and killing people in a 3rd world, they will be driving tanks into their own home town and shooting their friends and family.

holy crap

WHERE TO LAY BLAME?
Over 30,000 Americans are killed each year by gunfire. Since more than half of these deaths are suicides, it’s tempting to blame some of the victims. But every suicide is a tragedy. Many would be alive today if guns were less readily available. Blame the gun, not the person who took their own life with it.

Dems introduce bill banning assault weapons

Quote
Reps. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) and Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) formally introduced a bill on Monday to ban assault weapons.

The legislation, called the "Assault Weapons Ban of 2018," was introduced less than two weeks after the mass shooting
at a Parkland, Fla., high school that left 17 people dead. The gunman used an AR-15 assault rifle during the shooting,
one of the many firearms that would be banned under the bill.

The legislation would make it "unlawful for a person to import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess, in or affecting
interstate or foreign commerce, a semiautomatic assault weapon."

Deutch had promised to introduce such a ban during a CNN town hall event last week.

The new legislation is the latest attempt by Democrats to implement a ban on the guns since the Federal Assault Weapons
ban expired in 2004.

The White House has already come out against such a ban, which is strongly opposed by the National Rifle Association
(NRA).

"[President Trump] campaigned for president and was opposed to the assault weapons ban, and his position hasn't changed
on that," a spokesman said.

Two steps forward, one step back. A race to the finish line. Yes we can. No you can't. Or something.

Why The Florida Gun Show Had A Record Attendance

Thousands of gun enthusiasts flocked to the Florida State Fairgrounds for the Florida Gun Show event.

Organizers say they had a record number of people attend the event on Saturday, almost 7,000, and expect more Sunday.

Manager for the Florida Gun Show, George Fernandez, says they’ve never seen such a big crowd.

The implication is guns are to blame for all the evils in society and by banning them we will effectively end all murder and suicide. I'm not sure how many people actually believe this. Seems like these days any organization with a billionaire backer or two can hire a private army of pay-for-play journalists and internet trolls and make their agenda seem like a movement.

Dana Loesch has been a bit too insensitive for my taste lately but I'm starting to believe that she's right about there being quite a few people who are always looking forward to the next massacre.
