Remember how just a short time ago nearly all the "commonsense gun safety regulations" advocates mocked as paranoid lunatics those who warned of possible "confiscation" by shouting over and over and over "No one wants to take your guns away! No one is saying that!"? Of course over the years a few of the civilian disarmaments advocates did let slip their real agenda, sometimes even honestly naming an organization, such as "The National Coalition to Ban Handguns". Those names and agendas didn't play well at all in this country (being full of "bitter clingers" and "deplorables", etc.), and thus the "strategic" plan to change those names, and change the
stated goals to mere "commonsense measures to end gun violence".
In the wake of the Florida high school murders we have seen a number of commentators, including writers in the New York Times, call for various measures including totally banning firearms from civilians, repealing the Second Amendment, banning various classes of firearms, etc. I guess there is something to be said for an occasional glimmer of honesty from those people steeped in lying and deliberate misinforming as a political strategy.
Here's one example:
Maine Newspaper Calls For COMPLETE GUN BANhttp://thegatewaypundit.com/2018/02/maine-newspaper-calls-complete-gun-ban/Excerpts:
“Let’s clear the air and call for total civilian disarmament. Period.” says Greg Bates, in an op-ed for the Portland Press Herald in Maine, for which he takes off the mask and calls for an end to the 2nd Amendment.
We need to stand up to the NRA and push for what is so desperately needed: a complete ban on firearms.
But a fuzzy demand for “gun control” will likely squander this opportunity to save lives. To end gun deaths, we need to ban all civilian guns.
If we want to end the carnage, we must advocate for the solution that is required, not one designed to be politically palatable. Instead of shying away from the NRA’s accusation that gun control advocates want to take away their guns, we should embrace it as a mantra.
Let’s clear the air and call for total civilian disarmament. Period.
