"REQUESTING THE CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION OF HAWAII AND THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS TO OPPOSE "CONCEALED CARRY RECIPROCITY" LEGISLATION.". More total bullshit from our state "public servants". When you read all the "whereas"s be sure to note that amidst all the sparkling declarations of Hawaii's law for issuing CCW licenses they fail to mention that they don't actually issue any licenses. These people are deceitful lying oath-breakers. But what else is new? More unanimous committee votes?

Testimony due by Wednesday, 3/7 at 1:30 PM to be "on time".

Can anyone suggest some good bullet points for the written portion?

This bill lists the reasons Hawaii would deny a CCW permit, however people applying for CCW meeting those conditions are still denied.  Hence the need for CCW reciprocity.

Here's a doozy...

WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii has allowed the concealed carry of firearms....

Direjackalope

Here's what I went with:

To whom it may concern,

The time for "shall issue" concealed carry in Hawaii is long overdue.  The residents of this wonderful state are neither too stupid, too irresponsible, too timid, nor so well protected by the police that they should be denied this right.

Those with concealed carry permits visiting us from other states are by definition responsible, law abiding individuals.  No individual who would otherwise be prohibited from owning a gun who enters Hawaii would be allowed to do so by concealed carry reciprocity.

I politely request that you reconsider your stance on the apptitude of both the Hawiian Citizen and the Citizens of the United States.

Sincerely,

(Direjackalope)

I'll hit up the boys at work to submit tomorrow.

They are shameless liars, and they know it. And they know they can get away with it because 1. almost no one in the general public has any idea that Hawaii is the only state in the United States where no one may lawfully carry firearms for self-defense outside the home (how many "uninformed" people have you told that fact to who looked quizzical and then said "Really?"?), and 2. they know that there are so few of us that do know the facts and understand the agenda being promulgated against us being able to lawfully exercise our natural fundamental inalienable constitutionally-protected rights that we have no power to disrupt their "plans" due to the near Democratic monopoly of the Hawaii's lowest-turnout-in-the-nation voters.  >:(

CCW for LE and for some of the unidentified privileged few citizens
If you are referring to the four licenses issued since 2000, I have the names of the two issued on Kauai in 2006 (judge) and 2013 (active duty military member/family). The two from Maui in 2001 are lost to the dustbin of history, according to Maui PD.

As a citizen of Hawaii and the United States of America, I oppose your opposition to concealed carry reciprocity.

Our Bills of Right guarantees the RIGHT to Keep and BEAR Arms. The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that the right to carry a firearm, for the purpose of self-defense, OUTSIDE of the home is covered by that amendment.

Hawaii's defacto BAN on citizen’s RIGHTS to carry a firearm outside of the home for legal purposes and self-defense is UNCONSTITUTIONAL, and MUST BE OVER TURNED.

RESTORE the citizen's right to carry in this state, or DO NOT OPPOSE concealed carry reciprocity.

Sorry about the double thread.  For now -- the more, the merrier.  I'll merge these 2 topics sometime after the testimony deadline is over.
I think, therefore I am armed.

Last minute opportunity to contact all the committee members re all four resolutions via the automated NRA-ILA site. Click on the state of Hawaii on the map and the first option there is re these bills.

All four resolutions passed both committees without a single "no" vote, despite much greater numbers of OPPOSED testimony. One person in one committee voted "Aye with reservations". I still consider the votes "unanimous".

SCR9 and SR7

pathetic, that we can expect our govt, our elected representatives, to completely ignore overwhelming OPPOSE testimony, not even acknowledged, their arrogant pretense of carrying out the will of their constituents, and they have no worries about being held accountable, not even a consideration or afterthought.  It's a farcical charade, a total sham.

It would be par for the course in a banana republic, or Guam, or Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Costa Rica,, Iran, but in the United States?  well, yeah.  I guess it does occur in other dictator townships across the USA where politics by intimidation is the rule.

It would be real news if they actually listened, huh?  I mean, listened to their constituents, not Bloomberg.
all part of The Cost of living in Hawaii.  If you want to live in Hawaii, this is what you will give up.

So, no, we didn't really expect them to acknowledge the OPPOSE testimony, just like in all the other anti-2A bills being ram-rodded through.

bass monkey

So if this passes it will over ride national reciprocity?

aieahound

Nope.
This is a waste of time by everybody.
Especially our legislators.
WTF even is this.
They could just send an email to our congress people and be done with this.
It's grandstanding at it's worst.

PunaP correct me if I'm wrong.
