Update

The AK project is just about complete.  Main things done.  Not sure if I will be able to shoot it this weekend though. . .

Just have to mount the T-1 on the lower Larue mount and then mount on the gun.

Not sure which sling I'll use yet, but I have a few choices since there are QD points on the rail as well as might be able to use the original sling loop.

Not sure.  Don't have a trigger pull/scale.  I'll see if a buddy has one.  My first impression was that it was decent and the reset was pretty short.

Less than factory pull?  No need ask your buddy.  What do you guesstimate it to be?

I already have an Arsenal milled AK that is as-is from the box and I don't intend to mod that one.  I got this AK specifically with the intention of being a project gun.  I posted this project on another gun forum and one "old school" guy expressed his disdain for modding AKs.  To each their own.  To me, it was a fun idea to mod.  And I value anything that will help improve performance of a firearm.  And, you know what you know, so 

And to answer your question about the ALG trigger, I would say it's maybe 3-4 lbs.  It's pretty crisp.  From what I've read and been told, these need some time to work in.  The guy that did the install for me said he had a little trouble and had do some work to "smooth things out". 

You will find diehards everywhere and it isn't just with guns.  I like the modifications for my uses also and even as an "AK guy" I prefer the mods over stock for practical purposes.  I also like the ALG trigger and one thing I have not done.

The NK have great mods.

Got the T-1 on the Larue mount and mounted on the rail. Like the height. Not quite able to align the irons through the red dot, but close. Will have to try see how it goes when shooting.

I had the VLTOR light mount lying around and tried it with a G2x, but the rail section is one row too short for that mount. Might try an Arisaka or Thorntail mount or maybe a Inforce or Streamlight WML.

Will also have to play with the stock position. I initially had it as one out from min and my suppeprt hand ends up but the rail section. That’s ok, but not sure how it will work with a light. I also have to see how the grip works as my fingers and thumb touch the gas block section of the rail if I’m not careful. Might try to add some rail panels and see if I can keep that from happening.

I was thinking I would use one of my BFH slings for it and add some 550 cord to attach to the front sling hook, but my sling has sewn in QD swivel. I could try another sling I have that has an HK hook on the front, but don’t think the sling hook extends far enough to be able to hook into it.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it came together. Still have to shoot it and see, but liking it so far.

Was doing more dry fire with AK and noticing the trigger. While it is still nicer than the stock trigger and even the stock trigger for my Arsenal, it’s not quite crisp. It has a slight creep before the break, but also not quite a wall before the break. Will see if it smooths out through shooting. Not bad, but just not quite as crisp as my initial impression.

Was comparing to some of a my ARs again last night and the pull weight seems lighter than those triggers, which are all USGI triggers.

I've been thinking of changing my stock trigger. I polished the contacts so it's now at 4.5# but still feels clunky. The AK is a mechanical firearm compared to the gas driven AR so I'm skeptical about the advantages. The AK is what it is so not sure if there's a point to upgrading the trigger.

1) AK mechanical firearm vs gas driven AR? Huh? In any case, I don’t see how any of that relates to trigger upgrades.

2) Yes, that’s what I got. As to point in upgrading the trigger. Because I can and it was something I wanted to try. And depends on your intended use.

3) See #2. My AK isn’t intended for a precision nor a target rifle. None of my ARs are either. That trigger might be a good option for you given your shooting interests that you’ve shared here. While an AK is certainly accurate enough for me and what I want, I never thought of an AK for a precision gun. I mean I’d challenge myself to shoot good groups as I can if I was testing for accuracy. Since this is a new gun, I’ll probably test to a certain extent. But I usually get a good enough feel for that in the process of zeroing the optic.

I'm no AK owner/expert, but I think by mechanical he means its a work horse.  May not look the nicest or run the smoothest, but it will always run and get the job done.

So don't expect to have a super smooth crisp 2.5lbs trigger.  Is it possible, yes, but not designed for it.  Hope this makes sense.

Sorry d1k, this was the point I was trying to make as c66 said. Wasn't trying to be critical, just relating what I've been contemplating about my own AK.

Didn’t think you were being critical. Just didn’t get what you were getting at. I was also just saying that you seem to be interested in precision shooting. And I was just relaying that my AKs aren’t. I was ok with the stock trigger, but heard good things about the ALG AK trigger, so wanted to give it a try.
