there's gonna be a huge "mauna" convoy this Sunday from Kapolei to Kualoa. There's no permit.

The Pravda-Tiser reports there is a permit.  Not that that matters to the people having their day disrupted.

Barrel length and twist?

I’m gonna zero my LPVO tmrw. Initial zero with M193 and then will test some various other ammo. Including some Hornady Match, 62 gr Gold Dots, and Black Hills 77 gr OTM. Maybe some FGMM as well.

18 inch  barrel, 1:7 twist
I have the black hills 77 grain otm as well

I just  got a 16 inch 1:8 twist upper, supposed to shoot sub MOA. I was going to just swap uppers but now I have decided to build a whole new lower and get a new optic. Gonna do some upgrades.

Saw a bunch of familiar faces at the range today. Was good to see many “working out” their rifles as well as teaching some youth shooters.

Actually got scoldings from an RSO today. 😳Apparently my front foot wasn’t at the very edge of the pavement and not on the right side of my bench when I was shooting standing. Well, to my right was a youth shooter and I wanted to keep my gun with a comp away from him. To my left was a guy taking a break.  And maybe my foot was like an inch away from the edge. I mean I get they are there to keep things safe, but sheesh. Most of them are cool though.

I didn't know you had to shoot on a certain side of the bench.  I've been doing it all this time.

Started my 3rd NRA Pistol instructor class today.

Never heard that before as well. I’ve shot on both sides of the benches before and an RO never said anything. I’ve seen this RO before too.

Awesome on the instructor class. Are they going to be teaching for HIFICO?

KGMB reported on the caravan today.  There was NO permit for the convoy, but there was a permit for the gathering at the park.  So, 50/50.

The permit fee was waived because the event was deemed a 1A gathering.

Also, there were too few parking spots at the park, so a great many had to find parking on the highway.  Lots were ticketed for illegal parking as well as anyone HPD saw who had flags in their truck beds that flew beyond the width of their rear wheels (deemed a distraction for other drivers).

In my opinion, these tickets are "nuisance enforcement" efforts.  They'll ticket for illegal parking, but allow people to block public roadways.

Going 808GC later today to test my 9c.  20% off ammo.  If you got mil ID, no range fee and 25% off ammo.

switched lowers on my 18" barrel AR, tested to see if it needed to re-zero, but it's still good.

69 grains Fed GMM, 50 yards
77 grains Black Hills OTM, 50 yards
69 grains GMM, 100 yards
77 grainis Black Hills OTM, 100 yards
all 5 shot groups with some flyers due to shooter error.   :(

Their FB post was wrong. All discounts apply to military  ID only.  Good thing I double checked before I shot.  Phone intel was also wrong about the no range fee and 25% off ammo for military ID.

So I didn't go.  What a shame too, because I was gonna shot around 200-300rds.

Looks good to me. I was gonna go back to the range yesterday and test some FGMM (two different gr), but didn’t make it. I was interested in the same comparison that you did, which was against the BH OTM.

Haha! This happened to me on Saturday.
The RSO explained to me that it would be safer when picking up and putting down the rifle if I was on the “correct side” of the bench.

I bet was same RO. I typically rest my rifle in the right side of the bench, but not all the time. What is safer? To me if I’m shooting my AR, left side keeps the brass ejection less risk of going into neighbor’s area.
