Sounds like there was way more of an enthusiastic response than was plannned for. It’s always difficult to anticipate these kinds of things and it’s good to hear that  there is a plan for next time.

But come on even though it’s frustrating you have to see the positive side. Probably close to 100 people were prepared to show up for a ccw license. That means there are plenty more who were interested and couldn’t make it or didn’t know about it in time. That’s some political power waiting to be tapped right there,

Hold the next CCW drive at the state capitol.  Give applicants a Pro-2A sign to hold while they wait in line.

Just thinking out loud ....    :geekdanc:

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

I bet you'll need to get a permit to do that...  :shaka:

That is a good idea and something I would consider later in the future.  Wouldnt be able to charge for anything though so fingerprinters would have to do it for free.

To prep for it we'd need to give some staff at the capitol a pistol course beforehand.  Could do it in 2020.

Yeah, our future governor (soon to be Lt. Governor) will be glad to help you get a permit to provide people with permits on state property... but the permit seeker will probably have to have a "mental health evaluation" by "a state-approved mental health worker" "within 90 days prior to" seeking the permit... just like in the bill he introduced two sessions ago for people seeking a "permit to acquire" a handgun or "long gun permit". All the more reason to convert the ccw enthusiasm into something meaningful
I’m becoming clinically undepressed and thinking about beginning it all.

Would have been nice to see that kind of enthusiasm when we tried to get all to submit a letter/application to HPD for a HI CCW a few years ago to make a statement.

I see a problem with marketing and education.  Gotta make a good marketing program through different methods, including talking to people one on one.  Also educating people on the purpose, history, process etc.  Something we can try again in the future.  Plan well and do a big push at the end of 2019.

ROCKY it may say that on the paper BUT would you trust your prints to anyone that is not bonded or license to do so?
Sheryl and Donna has been doing this for many many years i trust them when it come to finger printing.
   Yes I do.
As a Utah CFP instructor, we've (Rockette) been doing our own prints for almost a year now for all of our participants.
We have had no problems or denials because of prints.   ;)

I sincerely doubt that every Hawaii LEO that books and prints a suspect is a "Bona fide"  print taker.

I agree that there is some skill involved and that  like most other skills comes with practice, but I think the onus lies more upon the print subject than print taker.
The skill of the print taker is to get the subject to "give in" and let them do the job, kind of like relaxing and trusting your chiropractor.  :shake:
If the print cards don't meet the standards, you simply do them again.
$0.40, No biggie

I cannot legally provide the Utah BCI Finger print hand out but please find the DOJ Information Services "Capturing Legible Fingerprints" instructions attached below.
We include Guaranteed fingerprint services with our class and we also provide a copy of the above document along with a plethora of additional information including Utah CFP, Utah Law, Hawaii Use of Force Law as well as the application for the AZ CCW.

The one small difference is that in the case of Arizona there is a nearly 100% chance that you will receive your permit/license, whereas in the case of Hawaii there was/is an absolute 100% chance that you will NOT receive your license.

Add in the fact that even if 100, or 500, or 10,000 people applied and were denied, it wouldn't make one iota of difference at the police departments or the legislature or the AG's office. It'd be a "talking point" for us, and we see how meaningful those are in Hawaii.

But I do stuff anyway, just because I'm ornery and want to see the bored and indifferent looks and smirks on the faces of my public servants as I submit my comments to them, even if it won't change a damn single thing.

See y'all Wednesday morning at the Hawaii County Council meeting.
