Did you read the context of what he wrote?
He stated that "most Hawaiians are really not too bright." Hawaiians are a race of people, and he categorized most of them as being stupid. In my book, this would be considered racist. Or he could be saying that residents of Hawaii (not Hawaiians) are dumb. Which would mean that he categorized residents of Hawaii as a race of people (Hawaiians) which would be ignorance, or stupidity perhaps? I give the benefit of the doubt and go with ignorant because I don't think he is stupid.
He then stated that "Above all I will be able to defend myself from the Hawaiian Government." So either some false "Kingdom of Hawaii government" is out to get him, which he could think to be true, but there is no recognized "Hawaiian Government," even among Hawaiians, so he would be incorrectly categorizing the group of Hawaiians that are out to get him. Or the State of Hawaii Government is out to get him. Use the same logic applied above.
I know he might say this is mincing words, but frankly, as a Native Hawaiian, I could easily find offense in his comments. If it is racial in nature, it should not be accepted on this forum. If it is ignorance, I think it is pretty self-evident that it is acceptable here.
