"Under the bill, gun owners are required to report lost, stolen or destroyed firearms to the county police department
within 24 hours of discovering the loss, theft or destruction of the weapon."
I predict no one will ever be charged & convicted of this "common sense gun law."
"I reported it within 24 hours of discovering if was missing. Last time I remember seeing it was 3 years ago when I cleaned it and locked it in my gun safe. Last night, I noticed it was no longer in the safe."
Nobody can honestly refute such a claim unless you were careless enough to tell someone more than 24 hours ago you noticed. Otherwise, how would anyone prove you had knowledge of something before you say you knew it?
Ige said, "This will help police officers in situations involving firearm ownership and possession, and it will
protect firearm owners if their lost or stolen firearm was used in a crime.”
LOL! Right.

If you report your gun stolen within 2 days after it turns up at a crime scene, did that report help you or make you look that much more suspicious?
Who isn't going to think, "Oh, right. You reported it stolen, and it just happens to be found next to a body the night before. I'm sure that's exactly what happened."
