NRA: UPDATE 4/29 LaPierre, all others (re-)elected UNANIMOUSLY! (Read 9202 times)

In case people aren't familiar with the NRA oft-stated position on open carry, as referenced by Mr. Nichols image, here is NRA-paid attorney (former solicitor general) Paul Clement arguing before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals en banc panel in the NRA backed Peruta case. Note that the outcome of this NRA litigation is that it was ruled that there is no Constitutionally-protected right to concealed carry... the exact opposite of what Clement is arguing here.

"In a letter read on his behalf at the organization's annual convention on Saturday, North said he would not be renominated and said the group had "a clear crisis" on its hands that needed to be dealt with "immediately and responsibly." North had formed a committee to investigate any financial impropriates in the organization."

Yeah, I'd say they have problems. Butina got 18 months including time served.

National Rifle Association Executive Vice President/CEO Wayne LaPierre was re-elected unanimously and unopposed by the NRA Board of Directors at their meeting in Indianapolis, Ind., April 29, 2019.

Carolyn Meadows was elected NRA President; Charles L. Cotton, First Vice President; and Willes Lee, Second Vice President.

“I am honored to serve as President of the NRA Board and to help the organization chart its course for the future,” said Meadows. “The Board stands behind Wayne, our members, and the promise of the future of this great Association.”

"LOL! I guess that solves everything!"

Hold on, this is waiting to be approved by American Rifleman.

The NRA is based out of New York despite being located in Virginia which is why their non-profit status is at risk in the State of New York.

Quote
According to interviews and to documents that I obtained—federal tax forms, charity records, contracts, corporate filings, and internal communications—a small group of N.R.A. executives, contractors, and venders has extracted hundreds of millions of dollars from the nonprofit’s budget, through gratuitous payments, sweetheart deals, and opaque financial arrangements. Memos created by a senior N.R.A. employee describe a workplace distinguished by secrecy, self-dealing, and greed, whose leaders have encouraged disastrous business ventures and questionable partnerships, and have marginalized those who object. “Management has subordinated its judgment to the vendors,” the documents allege. “Trust in the top has eroded.”

More inside info from their past head trainer.  I took my NRA Counselor course from Andrew and he was a legit guy.  He taught a good class and it's heartbreaking to know he had to struggle financially while his bosses lived a lavish lifestyle.

You'll never guess, but... over 24 hours later... my comment wasn't published... in fact, not one single comment has been published (at the NRA's "American Rifleman"article about unanimous re-election of all Board members). I doubt I was the only one submitting a sarcastic response to the fiasco.

I'd like to know one "fact" for sure. Just tell me what the total hotel bill was for LaPierre's stay during the NRA annual meeting in Indianapolis. Then show me the math as to how many regular annual membership dues payers it took to pay for the 2 or three night stay. Just curious. A little sunlight could never hurt anything, could it?

All the gun rights leaders in Hawaii don't get paid.  Hifico, HRA, FNRA, LIFE, GMAC, Pig Hunters of Hawaii, On Target Hawaii, etc.  We put in a lot of time each week for free and use our own money to make things happen.

I just checked out the openings and guests listed and topics for the NRA TV shows of Dana, Grant, and Cam from yesterday (Monday) (and today from Grant also), not a single word or hint of anything about the topic of this thread from any of them. Of course, they are all paid by AM, so maybe they've been 'instructed" to STFU divert. It's headline news everywhere from the New York Times and the Washington Post to Drudge and Fox... but not a peep from the NRA "news" outlets. Funny that.

Well, yeah, but none of you can brag, like the NRA can, that you got the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to rule that there is no constitutionally-protected right to carry concealed.
