But according to some, the government should take care of everything right?
We went to help a church feed at a shelter in kakaako. Spoke to the woman in charge of the feeding (not the top dog). Since she's there daily she knows the real 411. She said many don't come to the shelter because there are rules to follow. The ones there are mostly the ones with families, just trying to make a life (drug free/mentally stable). These are the people who even if were on the street, wouldn't commit crimes. They rely heavily on the community for support. They had an area with about 12 apple computers that were donated by another church. They were the older jelly bean type ones, but still work fine. So the kids can do their homework or anyone who needs a computer for use.
That is the real homeless problem, is not people that want and need some help, it is the
many that "don't come to the shelter because there are rules to follow."
People like their freedom. We as a society today, enable, for political reasons,
what in the past was considered to be selfishness, thoughtlessness, and lawlessness .
Yet that same society continues to increasingly constrict people that follow the "rules" because we
are the ones that follow the rules.
Something is wrong with that. Who are the stupid ones?
