Smart move by Colt to get out of the ar civilian market
I wont buy their overpriced AR's but I will buy their overpriced revolvers
Everybody makes an AR but only Colt makes the Python

Yup, I'm gonna get one!!!  :geekdanc:
They had to get out of the civilian AR biz, it drove them to bankruptcy. Colt has never been known for making great business decisions over their lifetime. I am just glad they are still around and decided to start making revolvers again.

I agree about the price. I think I’ll wait a year or two before I buy one. I’ll wait for the immediate demand to die down so I can pick one up under MSRP. Based on what I am hearing this is a terrific revolver in the same vein of the original. Not an exact copy, but a great finished firearm. I hope they improved the action/lockup so it can take a lot more rounds before needing some work like the old ones do.

My biggest question is how is releasing this new version going to effect the older Pythons? Traditionally, the introduction of the new model eats into the collector market somewhat. However, with the high asking price it might keep good original examples up into the heights that they have attained over the last few years. I just don’t know what is going to happen. I have always wanted to own an original version. And maybe someday I will. But this Python (in 4” barrel) is going on the top of my list of new guns to purchase.

That will be good for the market because it will reflect its Actual value instead of people’s sentimental value You are now pay for what you get! Like the Toyota Tacoma what so special about it!

Hey! Dems is fightin’ words!!! Don’t talk shit about my baby!

But seriously, I like my Tacoma. It is a base model. Nothing special. It is my mobile office, it gets good gas mileage, it’s cheap to operate, it’s comfortable, I practically live in it. It is slow, doesn’t have great brakes, the radio is only so so, and I wish it had more leg room. It does what it is designed to do. Nothing more, nothing less. I can certainly afford to by a new one or a new car if I wanted to. But I really don’t want to. It is 11 years old with 115,000 miles on it and Kelly Blue Book says private party value is between $7k and $9k. I paid $18k brand new in 2008. I don’t understand the popularity nor do I understand why the used car value is so strong? I won’t complain.

pretty good video review

But it was a colt media day so you know those guns got special attention prior to being reviewed.
What actually ends up in your hand might be a lot different.

On the other hand, 1500 msrp is less than what I would have guessed it would be.
What, Me Worry?

I laugh if upon opening the sideplate it suddenly looks suspiciously like a 686 or GP100 ;D.

MSRP is 50 bucks cheaper than the super GP100.  even tho i'm a Ruger fan, i'd rather get the Python instead   :D

I like the 4” myself. I already have a slick 5” S&W. I want to carry this gun so I think the 4” would be more to my liking. Eventually I would expect them to also offer a 4.5” or 5” barrel. And if the past is indicative of future offerings I am sure this will happen. 🥰

IF (that’s a “medium sized if, haha)I were to get one of the reboot versions, I’d get the 4” stainless. I wouldn’t envision carrying it, but I have thought about getting a holster for my 686+ 6” and Model 28 😳

Maybe you’re gonna have to find a part time job in AZ.

Check out the comments on Mrgunsngear FB page on the new Python. Seems like a lot of interest, but a lot of internet macho asshattery.

It’s like reading the comments on HNN. There are actually some that give me hope for future of 2a. Then there are those hundreds of goobers.

Back to topic, the more I look into these, the more I actually want one as a shooter.
