Used target sheets

Do any of you guys show off/advertise your shooting skills or gun ownership at home in a way to kinda ward off any potential trespassers(ex: put up old targets where passerby-ers could see, tacky but kinda like "beware of dog" signs)

Thinking about it a bit more it could go either way, it would show someone thinking about trespassing that the home owner is probably armed and may make them think twice about entering but it could also turn them on even more now knowing that you might have some expensive guns to be stolen.

What are your thoughts?

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Agreed, the less strangers know the better.

Oh...I never thought about this topic before. I am too lazy to stash away my target frames so they are fairly easy to see on the side of the house.
Better to put them away I think.

Thinking about it more, it's probably to stay on the safer side and not use it as a big ad for free firearms lol. Thanks for the replies

IMHO it's a bad idea to advertise that kind of stuff.  It's like open carry, who do you think is getting shot first?

Alarm systems however I think it's good to advertise.  I want to make my house as unattractive to thieves as possible.  I want them to rob my neighbor's house.

Bad idea in my opinion. It might chase away the smash and grab opportunistic type burglars, but you'd entice the more experienced ones. The smarter ones will stake out your house and it only takes a few days to figure out your routine, or if/when your house is empty. Firearms are highly desirable to the criminal element. I have great neighbors who I totally trust, but I don't even want them knowing what I have. When I go hunting or to the range, everything gets loaded with the garage door closed. All it takes is someone visiting them to mention it to someone, who may mention it to someone else who happens to be a criminal. There are dozens of scenarios where word can get out to people who might end up stealing them.

I know of a guy who got his firearms stolen. We're talking nice collector and exotic stuff. His entire safe got stolen while he was on a trip. The culprit? His neighbor's daughter's friends. They knew they had all the time in the world to take the entire safe, and that's exactly what they did. From what I understand, nothing from the safe was ever recovered. It was other stolen items that connected them to the burglary. Don't trust anyone.
