I mean that's on the Republicans for not funding the post office well enough....

BULLSHIT!

(I really get tired of you posing lies.)

This is just a "little" more current than 2013...

USPS flashback: Obama administration removed thousands of mailboxes

2016 report: 'Nationally the number of collection boxes declined by more than 12,000 in the past five years'

Quote
President Trump has faced backlash over recent measures the U.S. Postal Service
has taken to reduce service as November’s election approaches, including removing
mail collection boxes from street locations. But eliminating mailboxes is nothing new
and something that took place quite a bit during the Obama administration.

A pair of USPS inspector general reports provide details regarding the removal of
thousands of mailboxes in the U.S., and during Obama’s second term people complained
that too many mailboxes were taken away.

“Nationally the number of collection boxes declined by more than 12,000 in the past five
years,” an August 2016 report said. “Some customers have complained the Postal Service
has gone too far and removed most collection boxes, except those at the Post Office.
In addition, they have questioned whether any cost savings result from collection box removals.”

The same report revealed that in a 17-month period during Obama’s second term, hundreds
of mailboxes were removed without following the appropriate process, as “322 out-of-service
boxes were permanently removed from the street without Eastern Area approval or public
notification to customers.”

At the same time, that report and another from September 2017 show that there are good
reasons for eliminating mailboxes, such as underuse, and that even more mailboxes should
have been removed over the years, which would have saved the government hundreds of
thousands of dollars a year. The five-year total of 12,000 removed mailboxes jumped to
14,000 in the 2017 report.
...
Trump has said that he would support giving money to the Postal Service if Democrats
agreed to other measures that would be part of a new coronavirus stimulus bill.
...

The Dems in Congress want $25 BILLION more appropriated for the Post Office, $3.5 BILLION
of it for "election resources."

Whats wrong with them getting 25billion more?  Why would republicans not want people to get mail?  We are covid times we should all be mailing stuff and not going out....

The Post Office is a private entity.  It's supposed to run as a business, not a tax-funded utility.

Look at their history of losing money.  Maybe they need to be given an ultimatum -- sink, or swim.  If they know a bailout is coming, why try to operate within a budget?

I notice you latched onto a minor detail instead of addressing the actual question of whether it's just Trump reducing mail-in voting resources.

As expected.

Its a service it doesn't have to make money.  You don't expect US national park service to be a profit maker either....

You haven't been alive that long to have seen this, but you should know not to make statements of fact when you don't know what you're talking about.

Quote
The budget status of the U.S. Postal Service has been a matter of both contention and
confusion since the 1970 Postal Reorganization Act (PRA) put the Postal Service on a
self-sustaining basis, exempting it from general budget and funding laws and denying
the executive branch control over its finances. In the 1970s and 1980s, the Postal Service
was sometimes included and sometimes excluded from the president’s budget by
administrative decision often hinging on whether it was running a surplus or a deficit.
When it was on budget, the Postal Service was commonly caught up in deficit reduction
squabbles, and took on obligations belonging to the Treasury.

In the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1989, the Postal Service won a hard-fought
legislative battle, at some cost, to put its funding permanently off budget. Congress agreed
that mail delivery was a self-financing business whose operations should not be scaled
up or down depending on national budget considerations. For the past two decades, only
the Social Security Trust Funds have shared off-budget status with the Postal Service.

Despite its off-budget status, however, the Postal Service is still caught up in budget scoring
decisions that erode its finances and obstruct its legislative program in Congress. This
situation primarily results from three facts: (1) the Postal Service’s revenues and expenses
remain part of the unified budget, which is the measure most commonly used for calculating
budget effects, (2) the Postal Service’s contributions for its retiree obligations are held in
on-budget accounts, and (3) the Postal Service receives a small on-budget appropriation
to subsidize mail for the blind and overseas voters.

Its a mix of both, trump doesn't like mail-in because more democrats vote that way.  So if you just defund it to hell that means less democrat votes?

So, you "know" what Trump is thinking, even though what you just posted is NOT what Trump has said over and over?

Amazing!  Can you teach me that mind-reading thing you do?   :geekdanc:

You said, "trump doesn't like mail-in because more democrats vote that way."  First, I'll ask for a source of that "fact".  Don't deflect.  Just post the link or a screenshot.

Second, Trump, just like MOST OF US ON THIS FORUM, actually said this:

Mail-in voting is not the problem.  When you vote absentee ballot, that's mail-in voting.  You request a ballot, it comes to your place, and you send it back completed.  That process works most of the time.

What the Democrats want is 100% mail-in voting, meaning ballots get mailed to everyone on every state's voter registration roles.  Audits have shown that in places like California, their roles are massively incorrect.  People who moved, died, left the country, or are sitting in prison serving a felony sentence are still on the roles.  That's in addition to the millions of illegal aliens who were registered when the laws changed allowing them to get state drivers licenses.  The Motor Voter registration program automatically registered them.  Most didn't understand what it was, but were afraid to say they were not there legally, so they got registered.

If millions of ballots addressed to nonexistent, illegal or ineligible registrants go out, that greatly increases the amount of potential voter fraud in a process that's already reported lost, stolen, altered and destroyed ballots in previous elections.  The mass mail-in general election will be just as vulnerable but at a much larger scale.

^^^^
THIS is the reason Trump gave when he opposed mass mail-in voting.  If every person receiving a ballot would request it online or in person, and then send it back signed and properly sealed, the risk of fraud and mishandling is reduced, but the post office is still the long pole in the tent.  If the ballot is delayed, mutilated, misdirected -- as mail often is -- or just plain stolen as mail carriers have done in the past, how do you fix that?  You can punish them, but the damage to the election remains.

Anyway, once again, your facts are bullshit.  Did you order more manure for your tomato patch than you meant to?

Do you know why they have so much trouble swimming? Because of unrealistic mandates placed on the post office by a republican congress and republican president.

https://theweek.com/articles/767184/how-george-bush-broke-post-office

"A lot of people point to the rise of email, as well as private competitors like FedEx. Certainly, all those things contribute to USPS's problems. But what's really dragging down the Postal Service is something else entirely.

Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006.

Passed by a Republican-led Congress and signed into law by President George W. Bush, the PAEA gave the Postal Service new accounting and funding rules for its retiree pension and health benefits. Up until 2006, the USPS funded those obligations on a pay-as-you-go-basis, pulling out of its pension fund and adding to it as retirees' costs came in. But the PAEA required the Postal Service to calculate all of its likely pension costs over the next 75 years, and then sock away enough money between 2007 and 2016 to cover most of them."

It is hard to demand the post office function like a business with no tax funding while simultaneously having the government placing such restrictive requirements on them. It's like putting extra weight on a swimmer and complaining they are having trouble swimming. I totally agree that government should be more efficient and smaller but the USPS would be safely above water if it weren't for the requirements.

Great.  But that doesn't change my facts, nor does it make what omigod posted true.

Trump SAID the post office can't handle a 100% General Election By Mail ballot process back in March or so.  Anyone with a brain knew the USPS had no chance of fixing that by the election timeframe, which means with time to update and produce mailing roles in all states, send out the ballots VIA USPS, have the voters receive, fill out, and return the ballots VIA USPS, AND have the states capable of receiving, tallying and adjudicating what ballots are valid vs invalid, no matter how much money was thrown at them.  There just wasn't enough time.

BTW, all those mandates did not originate with Republicans.  In fact, the Democrats in the House created the majority of the mandates.  They have the majority there and control the purse strings.  If you need someone to blame, blame the people more involved with investigating, impeaching and demonizing Trump than in doing their fucking jobs.

This is only partially true. Some democrats want this.  Even i don't support that.  But in general Republicans and Trump are against.  They filed lawsuits limiting the number of fucking drop of boxes, look at Texas they wanted one box for like 3 million people.  Then they filed lawsuits so that ballots sent out before election day won't count if they don't get delivered by the 3rd... don't try and warp this as Republicans are neutral.

It;s because voter fraud happens more.  Watch Project Veritas vids, it shows and has workers admitting to getting lots of votes for DNC by changing the voters mind.  At least 1 worker was fired and she is caught on camera saying she has thousands that she has done.

It does happen and is rare.  Car accidents happen and people die but there is acceptable risk with all the safety features and rules, so people still drive.  Same with mail in voting.  All the people so far have been prosecuted.  Its a very bad thing to get convicted of and hopefully people will learn.

It's not rare if 1 person alone is admitting on camera that she got thousands.  There are multiple vids with multiple people.  She also drops them off at different post offices as to not raise suspicion. Also she admitted she could go to jail if anyone found out.  Watch the video, she stated all of this.

Also pics and video of mailmen trashing hundreds of ballots in trash bins.

And so far, no one was prosecuted yet for the recent Project Veritas videos.  The TX AG said it's being investigated as of yesterday.

Also look at cities that have more voters than registered voters since 2016.  So voter fraud does happen and is not rare.  I met a guy who works at a vegas gun store.  His mom died 5 years prior and used to live in CA.  She has never lived in CA.  Just for fun, he pulled up her info to see if she voted in NV.  And guess what, she was registered to vote and cast a vote in NV in 2016.
