Good luck!

Btw, random idea, I think a public donation box might be a good idea in case additional expenses arise for the range (hand sanitizer, wipes, etc.)

Good idea!

I think bringing supplies is a better idea than money.

The city cannot take donations unless they get authorization.  So better to just give them the supplies or just leave it at the range.

Has anyone actually seen "the mayor's press release" announcing Koko Head reopening? Haven't found anything like it on honolulu.gov, oneoahu.org or the Department of Parks and Recreation website. And there's nothing about Koko Head in the updated emergency order Caldwell issued  today
"If it ain't one thing, it's another."

Governors news release.
https://governor.hawaii.gov/newsroom/latest-news/office-of-the-governor-news-release-governor-ige-approves-requests-to-safety-re-open-more-businesses-across-the-state/

The proposal also includes the re-opening of outdoor attractions with limitations, starting Thursday, May 28. This includes:

    Sea life attractions
    Water parks
    Pools
    Campgrounds
    People’s Open Markets
    Shooting and Archery Ranges
    Similar outdoor facilities

People doing whatever they like already. Gyms already opening, somewhat not the DL. Operations opening up and posting on SM, all while also commenting on others who aren’t following guidelines. Lots of hypocrisy all around.

Anyways, looking forward to hitting the range again mid June. Hopefully no rebound that shuts things down again.

Thanks, but the City and County of Honolulu operates Koko Head. The governor can authorize reopening, which he has done, but it's up to the city when and how, because it provides the staff and owns the range. Good to hear the staff says June 5. Thanks, aletheuo137. Bu still haven't heard official word from the mayor's office or DPR.

Cannot help but think the gov and mayor are having some differences in keeping the public informed.

I thought it was strange when it was reported that the gov authorized the range to open yet I didn't hear nothing from the mayor.  There was a lot of elation when it was said the range will open on 5/28 but I suspected something was not right.  But all in all, very happy for our gun community that the range will open June 5th.

Yeah, the possibility of things shutting down again worries me.  We as a people are hard headed.  Some more than others.  I think most people don't realize that we are in the middle of a big pond and the only resources (and help) will come by ship or plane.  We have nowhere to go.  If the virus spins out of control all we can do is look at each other with our fingers up our nose until help comes.  If it comes.   :D

Of course we can also do the Hokey Pokey and turn ourselves around.

In some ways maybe some of us are already doing it.  "you put your right hand in....you put your right out...you put your right hand in and you shake it all about...  You do the Hokey Pokey........" (in reference to our distinguished leaders) ;D

Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

OK, there's something  on the city and county Dept of Parks and Rec page:  https://www.honolulu.gov/parks

(Quote)
May 27 - Following Mayor Caldwell's Restore Honolulu 3.0 Order, the Koko Head Tramway reopened the afternoon of Tuesday, May 27. City off-leash dog parks and skateparks are scheduled to reopen on Friday, May 29. On June 5, the City will be re-opening the Koko Head Shooting Complex, archery range, People’s Open Markets (POM), and swimming pools for lap swimming only. The Honolulu Zoo is also targeting a June 5 re-opening. A re-opening date for the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve has yet to be determined.

With restrictions lifted on outdoor gatherings of 10 people or less (regardless of household), park activities that do not require a permit will be allowed during normal park hours with physical distancing of six feet or more being observed. Sports league activities are not currently allowed, though the City is pursuing a path forward to allow organized activities of this nature to resume at City parks.City gymnasiums, campgrounds, playgrounds, and other indoor and outdoor City park facilities not already reopened (such as stand-alone comfort stations and Community gardens which were previously reopened) remain closed at this time.

Will any of the rangemasters/RSOs be able to confirm the green light to re-open? If the KSHC website could be updated, that’d be great also :)
I have been emailing London about updating the website as I have been getting complaint emails from people thinking the range is open when it is not. And I want my name and email removed. I believe it has been updated as of today.
