Wouldn’t surprise me if that skank Ballard is in on it as well? :grrr:

The Chief is in on some big conspiracy to deprive you of your shooting time? And for what purpose, to make your groupings suffer?

Submitted via recoverynavigator.hawaii.gov —>

Hello - as an supporter of the 2nd Amendment and the shooting sports, I humbly urge Mayor Caldwell, Governor Ige, and the City and County of Honolulu to re-open Koko Head Shooting Complex. Upon the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, gun stores across the country were suddenly flooded with prospective buyers looking to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights and purchase firearms. Subsequently, the Federal government and President Trump have deemed gun stores ‘essential businesses’ to remain open during the Covid-19 pandemic. Even Honolulu saw a spike in firearms purchases and registration in preparation for the later stages of the pandemic and the potential need personal protection and self-defense.
Unfortunately, due to the lockdowns, many public facilities, including Koko Head Shooting Complex, were forced to close. This is a severe problem as the thousands of new gun owners are now unable to perform simple yet necessary safety checks on their newly-acquired firearms, including proper function, ammo compatibility, accuracy, and most importantly proper instruction on the safe handling and operation of the firearm under the supervision of qualified range instructors, range safety officers, or well experienced friends and family. I do realize that there are a couple of private indoor ranges, but unfortunately the cost to access these facilities is often cost-prohibitive for many individuals, and Koko Head Shooting Complex was the only place on Oahu where they could safely practice with and handle firearms. Without proper instruction/training, the now-armed individual runs a greater risk of accidental discharge and not being able to neutralize the threat should the need arise, and please forgive my bluntness, but allowing an ill-intentioned criminal to threaten my life or property is not an option.
As these legally-acquired firearms and likely ammunition are now in hundreds of thousands of households, the only viable option that does not infringe on any individuals civil liberties is to re-open the Complex. Many in the firearms community have been in long web-based public discussions regarding enacting safety measures at the range, including social distancing between patrons, having hand sanitizer available at all shooting bays, and limiting the number of shooters per session. As target shooting is an individual sport, interaction between individuals is already at a minimum. As patrons check-in with each range session, any potential spread of Covid-19 can be more easily traced from range logs.
Many in the firearms community are ready, willing, and able to assist in minimizing the spread of Covid-19, but are frustrated by the lack of progress in the re-opening of Koko Head Shooting Complex and being unable to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights. Once again, I humbly request our elected officials to re-open Koko Head Shooting Complex.
I request an acknowledgement and response to my request at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.

I got a response from action line, but they said to email these guys      covidresponse@honolulu.gov
so I did a little revision of my last email and emailed them
another passing of the buck.  "we won't do anything, but maybe these guys will. bc we LAZY!!!"

To whom it may concern:

I've been emailing and calling the Mayor's office and the Governor's office for weeks, almost daily about reopening Kokohead Shooting Complex, and I have not received a reply with any date or any  information at all from them about reopening the shooting range. It would be easier to enforce the Covid-19 guidelines at Kokohead than all other parks because there are Range Safety Officers at the  range to enforce all rules, and you have to sign in to use the range. No other parks do this.  In all other parks there is little to no enforcement of rules.  Not so at Kokohead Shooting Complex. Therefore it is easier to track users of the park and do contact tracing if necessary and easier to enforce rules at the shooting range than it is at any other park. Now that most every place will be  reopening soon, including Hanauma bay, I don't see any logical reason to not reopen Kokohead Shooting Complex. Kokohead also stimulates the economy. Firearms and ammo is expensive. then we need a car to get there, gas, food, shoes, clothes, glasses, hat, sunscreen, earplugs, earmuffs, sanitizer, spray disinfectant.  Also, handgun safety classes use the shooting range to teach a required course for  handgun safety in order to obtain a handgun safety affidavit.  This also helps stimulate the economy.

I'm seeing if anyone can get some answers about the reopening of Kokohead Shooting Complex, because I am getting no response from our leaders on this subject.  There are over 1 million firearms  registered in the state of Hawaii, and the shooting range is a widely used park, and it is a dangerous thing to have many new firearms owners and no place to practice firearms safely. There are many users of this park anxiously awaiting its reopening.

If you can help in any way it would be much appreciated

Sincerely,
***** ********

Well she did say she was going to push to have law abiding citizens prosecuted for defending themselves in their own homes.  True story.

Context? Curious about that but would need a little more before I judge.

Ok, yeah I recall that conversation. But note that what the chief said is a bit different than what Both paraphrased hence I didn't know if there was some other interview he was referring to.

What she said and what she inferred, as stated here, are the same.  There's no debate about that.

I disagree. Though it is possible that is what she secretly meant, there is not enough information in her statement to support that conclusion.

Nope. Being arrested is going through the legal system, being interviewed as a possible suspect is going through the system but neither of those are prosecution. Being prosecuted is if the case is being taken to court.

If you shoot someone in your home and the police arrest you, interview, and then let you go with no charges then you haven't been prosecuted.
