Line was to the door this morning. Luckily the guy came to the side window and asked if anyone was just picking up their permit. I was in and out in 5 minutes!

When I came back at noon line was to the door and it took an hour to get thru the line and registered :(

I was down there at 9:30, had a few people in line. Registered my latest, was out within the hour. The line was to the door when I left.
Anybody know what it's like when they first open? (7:45)

I've thought about going early like that but I figure parking would be a major problem since no street parking

btw parking was crazy yesterday. 2 cars were inside the structure waiting for something to open up. I drove around for like 15 min and ended up coming back. one of the guys was still waiting. I got lucky and found a spot a block away

I usually go right after work if I need to pick up a permit or anything.  I usually park in the c&c building and get choke parking. The line is usually non existant at that time.

I think that may be across the street towards Thomas square? I think that's where my old c&c credit union was. I think

I believe bass monkey is talking about the parking structure on the next block Ewa of the police station.  There's an entrance on Beretania and there's a bunch of metered parking if you go straight in and also more to the left where there's a little tunnel where you walk through to get to the C&C offices.  That's where you park to get building permits and other stuff at the C&C offices.  I haven't been there in a while, but IIRC, the meters take a little more money than the meters in the police station for the same amount of time.  The good thing is that there is usually space there.

Yeah that's the building. I always park there. A friend told me a lot of the people finish work at 330 there so not many people around. I never pay my meter. But, they also using the credit card meters there so they might be able to track of someone parks and doesn't pay.

Do you deal with an actual LEO behind the window at HPD?

Yes.

They are actual genuine, police officers

Went first thing this morning.  The two guys manning the window when I was there seemed to be pretty new and it made for a pretty slow process.  Not sure if it was because today was a popular leave day so they needed some people to cover the shift.  I was 5th in line when they opened and I didn't leave until closer to 8:30 am.

Went yesterday after work. Paid for 13 minutes of parking, returned and there was still 5 minutes leftover. Getting in and out was a breeze. I'll be back in a week or two to register a gun. Well see how that goes.

This is my typical experience. I usually go in the afternoons around 2:00-3:00. In the process of acquiring and registering 6 guns, I've only had to wait in a line twice. The longest line being three people. Maybe try afternoons if you hate waiting?

I went to register my handgun at 9am today and was third in line.  I was picking up my permit last Friday at 10:30 and I was like 10th in line.  Good thing someone came out and asked who's just here to pick up.  About half the line raised their hands.

Parking also isn't bad at all down below in the garage at that time.....
